Twenty Two

Jungkook sat on Hyunji's bed, while she was on the phone with her mom in the other room. Fatigue hit Jungkook as he waited for her to go to bed with him. She hung up the phone and walked back into her room, laying on the bed next to him. Jungkook scrolled on his phone before looking over at her. Rather than sitting on her phone or talking to him she just seemed to stare off into space.

"Are you okay?" He asked, turning to his side as he put his phone down.

"Mhm." Hyunji nodded.

That was a lie and he knew it.

"Princess, I know that's not true."

"I'm okay."

"No you're not. You have that sad pout on your face."

They had been through this before. Jungkook wasn't gonna let Hyunji sit in silence and be all sad. They always wanted to be open with each other and Jungkook was ensuring that.

"Just be honest." He sat up on his elbow.

"I feel guilty." She sighed.

"You regret it."

He looked away from her, avoiding eye contact. Jungkook knew how her parents raised her, of course she regrets it. His mind raced as he felt saddened at the thought. Hyunji noticed his facial expressions.

"Guilt and regret are different. I feel bad about lying to my parents, I didn't say I wish we didn't happen." Hyunji turned to face him. "If my parents knew what I did they would be so disappointed. They would hate me."

"You said they were very religious and strict, but I'm sure they love you with all their heart. They won't hate you. They might be upset, sure, but they'll never hate you."

"You don't know them. They're gonna be so pissed." Hyunji teared up at the thought.

"Maybe if they just met me it'd be fine."

"Yeah no that wouldn't fix things. They'd just interrogate you."

"I don't want you to be stressed out by our relationship, or feel guilty about anything. We don't have to do anything sexual-"

"That's sweet, it really is. But you know there's no going back, that would be torture."

Thank god. Jungkook thought.

He was willing to do anything for her, and put her needs before his own. Even if that meant going back to many long showers.

"I know it'd be torture, but I'll do anything to be with you. You should know that by now." Jungkook smiled.

He scooted closer to her, laying his head on chest as he put his leg over her, hugging her.

"I have a question I've been meaning to ask you," He said, "Why do we have to keep us such a big secret from Yuri?"

"I'm surprised it took you this long to ask. Jungkook, it's complicated. She's always been very jealous, when we were younger if I talked to Tae too much she'd get an attitude and ignore me. Or if I hung out with someone else at school she would treat me poorly. She's changed a little, but it's really the same." Hyunji explained, without trying to trash talk her best friend and his cousin.

"I knew you would say that. I know what you mean. She's my cousin and I enjoy being around her. But I know sometimes she's just, well, rude."

"Yeah. . . "

"Why don't you have other friends?"

"I'm an introvert. My family is very particular about who I'm friends with too. Look, Yuri lives nearby and my mom is okay with us being friends.

Jungkook sat in silence, he couldn't imagine his parents being so controlling over him, yet it was normal to Hyunji.

"You deserve better than that." Jungkook looked up at her.

"What?" She asked.

"You deserve better friends. And I wish your parents would accept the choices you make."

"Well lets not ask for miracles now."

"You only live once."

Hyunji smiled, it was one of the things she loved about him. She had always wanted to be the person that had a yolo out look, but her circumstances never allowed for that.

"I like that idea but I've never had the opportunity nor the guts to do so."

"Kim Hyunji, will you yolo with me?" Jungkook asked with a giggle.

"Of course I will." Hyunji nodded.

Jungkook sat up and kissed her goodnight before nestling under the covers. Hyunji did the same and turned off the lights as she laid next to him.

"I want to fall asleep next to you forever." Hyunji pulled him close to her, as she whispered.

He pressed his lips against her as a smile rested on his face.

____________

The warmth of the sun beating down on her skin made Hyunji smile. Knowing she only had a little more time before the heat got to her. Looking across she saw Yuri changing the playlist, squinting from the sun.

"So what are you getting Jungkook for his birthday?" Hyunji asked.

"I don't know, but I've got a little time to figure it out. Why?" Yuri asked.

"I haven't figured it out either."

"Well if you have any ideas, let me know. Anyways, so you know how we're going to rent a beach house for a weekend?"

"Yeah."

"So we'll have an extra bed, and we could always take another car so I was wondering if you wanted to come."

"That sounds fun! I'll have to check with my mom though."

"Okay."

___________

Hyunji sat on her bed adding things to her cart for her boyfriend. It was his first birthday of them being together and she wanted it to be memorable. Hyunji knew what they had was special, it wasn't like the relationships she heard about in school. He was slowly becoming the center of her life, consuming the first and last thought of her days.

Though Jungkook was only her boyfriend, she had a feeling he was the best she was ever gonna get. And she wanted each and every moment to become a fond memory she held onto forever.

Putting her debit card information she placed the order.

She had the packages sent to Jungkook's house for two reasons, 1: her mother and 2: Jungkooks nosy ass would start shaking and feel the weight of each package.

Oh, and because Hyunji finally bought herself a vibrator.

Just in case they get busy during the school year and don't have as much time together. Or that's at least what she told herself.

"Hyunji! I'm home!"

She exed out of the screen and shut her laptop before heading downstairs to see her mom. As she walked into the living room Hyunji saw her mom let out an exhausted sigh as she sat on the couch.

"Long day?" Hyunji asked.

"One of the longest days ever." Haneul took off her heels. "I can't wait till your father gets back and can take over all of this."

"Yeah, he'll be back soon."

"Not soon enough."

"I made you dinner, it's in the microwave."

"Oh thank you, honey, I'm starving."

Haneul stood up and walked towards the kitchen, getting ready to warm up her plate. Hyunji let Jay out the back door, before returning to the kitchen to get a bag of chips while she made small talk with her mom. Hyunji enjoyed having more freedom to do what she wanted, (especially sneaking around with her boyfriend) without anyone interfering, but she undoubtedly missed spending time with her mother.

"It's been a stressful day, I think I'm gonna get in the hottub. You wanna come out too?" Hanuel asked, before taking a bite of food in her mouth.

"Yeah, sounds good." Hyunji smiled.

She turned around and headed towards her room to get changed into her bathing suit.

The hot warm met her cool skin as the breeze gave her goosebumps. Hyunji sat down letting the water in gulf her as she sighed, relaxing her muscles as she leaned her head back. Her phone began ringing and she quickly picked it up, seeing it was her boyfriend she held back a smile.

"Hey, Yuri." Hyunji spoke.

"Yuri? Is your mom around?" Jungkook asked, clearly confused.

"Yeah, I'm in the hottub."

"Oooh, doesn't that just bring back lovely memories, princess."

"Stoppp, I've already been through that in my head."

She heard him chuckled in response.

"I was alone, well beside Tae, so I was wondering if you could come over. But we can just hang out tomorrow. I'll let you go."

"Aw, okay. Tomorrow then, I'll talk to you later."

"Bye babygirl."

She put her phone on the end of the hot tub, Hyunji already couldn't wait to see him. Looking forward she made eye contact with her mom.

"You two gonna hang out tomorrow?" Hanuel spoke.

"Yeah, probably go swimming or something." Hyunji nodded.

"Thats good, I'm glad you've been hanging out with her and Tae so your not too lonely with me gone all the time."

"Yeah."

Hyunji felt her stomach turn, she hated this. She hated lying to them. Before now she was mostly open with her mother, they were close friends. Now there were so many lies and secrets Haneul didn't know. But Hyunji knew the repercussions of her being honest were far worse than keeping a secret for a few more months.

"What?" Haneul softly said. "Do you want to say something?"

Yes.

"No, just thinking."

Hanuel knew her daughter better than that. Something was bothering her, but the more she pried the more reluctant Hyunji would be to tell her.

"Your father should be awake now. We can facetime him before he has to go into the office."

"Okay."
