Thirty Three

"Are my nipples showing?"

Ah, she speaks. Jungkook thought to himself.

"Uh, yeah hundred percent." He replied.

"Fuck." She murmured under her breath.

"I'm sorry, Ji."

She nodded her head, putting on her flip flops. "It's fine, it was an accident."

The three block walk back to the beach house was a silent one. Hyunji felt exposed, her arms crossed over her chest awkwardly. When she saw the driveway she was relieved to finally get back. Walking inside the beach house Hyunji practically ran to the stairs catching everyone else's attention.

"What happened? Is she okay?" Taehyung asked.

"Did you two have a fight?" Jimin questioned.

Jungkook was being interrogated already, and Yuri sat eagerly listening for his response.

"Fight? Did she run upstairs to cry? Because if so, you're gonna run away crying too." Eunji walked into the living room from the kitchen, cracking her knuckles as she eyed up Jungkook.

Jungkook found it funny how Eunji was ready to beat the shit out of him without even listening to what actually happened. She really was like Hyunji's older sister.

"If you two fight I'm putting my money on Eunji." Jimin chimed in.

What a traitor. Jungkook thought.

"She's not crying and we didn't fight. She's pissed at me because I took off her bikini top and lost it in the ocean. Ji's wearing my white t-shirt and its practically see through. So she ran upstairs because she didn't want anyone to see her nipples." Jungkook replied.

"The only person in this room that looks at her boobs is you." Taehyung pointed out.

"I told her no one would even notice."

"Wait, but why were you taking it off in the first place?" Jimin spoke up.

Jungkook was waiting for one of them to ask that, and he wasn't surprised that it was Jimin.

___________

Jungkook wiped the sweat off his brow and reached over to grab Hyunji's glass of ice tea, again and this time he finished off the whole glass. Hyunji laid between his legs with her back on his chest as they both shared a lawn chair by the poolside. Jungkook rested his arm around her waist while he rested his chin on her head.

Hyunji loved this. She loved them.

They were doing nothing but relaxing with each other and yet it was so enjoyable. With Jungkook she never felt like they had to go out and do something extravagant to have a good time. Being with him lounging around was perfect for her. It was still fun to go on dates with him but she was a homebody at heart. And having him just a few doors down from her house has been perfect.

But then she remembered that in a week's time he wouldn't even be on the same block. The thought made her unconsciously frown as she realized how soon it would be. He had become such a huge part of her everyday routine without her even realizing it. They spent the entire summer together and it was the best fucking summer of her life. Hyunji never wanted it to end. The couple practically lived together over the weeks which is how they got close so quickly.

She was worried what it would be like when Jungkook moved back into his real house. Hyunji's father would be coming home any day now which would leave her mother with more free time to be at home. It was easy for the worries to fill her mind, but the gentle innocent touch of Jungkoks thumb on her thigh brought her out of her thoughts.

"Are you okay, Babygirl?"

He knew she was more quiet than usual while she stared off into space daydreaming. Jungkook was enjoying himself and she didn't wanna bring it up and ruin the mood.

"I'm fine." She looked up at him and smiled.

"I love you." He kissed her neck.

"I love you too."

Jay was laying under a tree in the shade exhausted from playing sometime ago and as soon as the backdoor opened he jumped up and ran inside. Jimin came out bringing the aroma of dinner with him as he sat next to the couple.

"If you two keep laying like that Jungkooks gonna get some fucked up tan lines." Jimin commented.

"Man, I didn't think of that." Jungkook said.

Hyunji rolled her eyes. "We'd have to be out here a while for that to happen."

"Well dinner is ready so come inside."

___________

Eunji sat next to Taehyung at the table, across from her cousin and Jungkook. Taehyung's father had been out with some family for most of the day so she hadn't spoken much to him either. She only briefly greeted his mom and made small talk.

"I'm so happy we'll finally get to sit down and talk, Tae's been hogging all of Eunji's time the entire day!" Taehyung's mother said.

"We haven't had a lot of time together!" Tae defended himself.

"So how long have you guys been together?"

"We've been dating for a month-"

"Dating? I wish." Eunji chuckled, raising her eyebrows as she looked at him. "You only took me out once and you haven't asked me out again."

"You said you were busy! I didn't want to be pushy." Taehyung blushed.

"Oh Taehyung. . . Did you even ask her to be your girlfriend yet?" His mom asked.

"Before Eunji answers-I was planning on asking before we leave. I just want the right moment to ask."

"I agree with Taehyung. It has to be romantic and at the perfect moment." Jungkook defended his cousin.

Somehow the innocent conversation had Eunji contemplating everything. If he liked her so much why didn't he ask her out again? Taehyung asked her to come on vacation but was it solely for excitement and ecstasy under the sheets or something more?

Eunji shook off the thought. She was here to enjoy herself, not get stressed out.

"And are you in college?" Tae's father asked, curiously.

"She just got accepted into Med school!" Taehyung bragged, looking at Eunji as he smiled.

Is he just showing me off to his parents? Eunji thought, forcing a smile.

Though Taehyung had nothing but good intentions it made Eunji even more doubtful of their. . . . Situationship. He couldn't be more proud of her, he knew how difficult it was to get into med school and couldn't imagine the hard work she put in. In his perspective he was telling everyone at the table how amazing she was, yet it made her stomach drop as she wanted nothing more but to leave the table.

"Thats amazing! I'm sure you'll make a wonderful doctor." His father responded.

"What kind of doctor do you plan on being?" His mom asked.

"I'm going to specialize in pediatrics. And then after some years of experience I will open my own clinic." Eunji spoke.

Taehyung simply smiled at her. If only he knew the shitload of thoughts running through her mind.

After making small-talk and finishing half her plate she just needed to get a moment alone.

"I'm feeling sick, I just need to get some air. Please excuse me." Eunji stood up, reaching to grab her plate.

"I'll get it." Taehyung touched her hand. "Do you want me to come-"

"No, just enjoy your dinner."

Eunji stood up and walked towards the back door picking up a sweater on her way out. Jay jumped up and followed behind her running out the door before she could close it. Eunji put her forearms on the deck and leaned on it, sighing feeling the tension in her shoulders.

And this was supposed to be a relaxing vacation.

Admiring the peach colored sky as the sun began to set Eunji zipped up the sweater around her feeling it get chilly. Her nose picked up the familiar scent as she shook her head. While she was questioning their relationship Eunji was cozily wrapped up in Taehyung's sweater as the smell of his aftershave was obnoxiously pleasing.

________

Hyunji knew her cousin was off and that something was on her mind bothering her. After finishing dinner and washing her plate Hyunji went outside to find her cousin staring off into space.

"What's wrong? You seemed fine until dinner?" Hyunji stood beside her.

"Ah," Eunji faced her and sighed. "I'm just wondering if coming here was a mistake."

"Why? You and Tae were together all day with the biggest smiles on your faces."

"Hyunji, why hasn't he asked me out? Why am I not his girlfriend yet? Don't mention this to him, but I just feel like he's playing me-"

Hyunji furrowed her eyebrows, wondering how her cousin could think such a thing. Hyunji had known Tae forever and he was nothing but a gentleman. It honestly made her upset to know Eunji was thinking such a thing.

"Tae thinks you're absolutely amazing. He wouldn't play you. I don't know why you'd suddenly think that." Hyunji defended him.

"Because our "relationship" is the same as it was last month. I just thought if he was really interested in me he would've made a move by now." Eunji went on.

"He asked you to come spend some time with him at his family's vacation house. Not to mention the fact that you literally just met his parents. He wouldn't do that if he thought you were a fling."

She has a point. I'm probably overreacting. Eunji thought.

"I'm overreacting." Eunji muttered under her breath.

"You need to talk to him." Hyunji said.

"Since when did I start taking boyfriend advice from my little cousin?"

The back door slid open and Jungkook came out eagerly walking towards Hyunji with a big grin on his face.

"We're about to start karaoke, babygirl," He put his arm around her waist. "Are you gonna come in?"

"Yeah, I'll be there in a second." Hyunji nodded her head, giving him a quick peck before he ran off into the house.

"Oh my god," Eunji rolled her eyes. "He can be so obnoxious can't he see we're talking-"

Hyunji wasn't going to listen to anyone talk shit about her boyfriend.

"The last thing he is is obnoxious." Hyunji shot back. "I don't get what you deal with him is!" Turning on her heels Hyunji began to walk back towards the house.

"He's been nothing but kind to you. I think you owe him that much not to talk bad about him behind his back." Hyunji added.

All the questionable guys Eunji dated and yet she treated Jungkook like he was less than. It pissed her off even more thinking about it.

"Hyunji, I-" Eunji called for her cousin, but she was gone. "Shit,"

Eunji said the wrong thing and now her cousin was pissed at her, and for good reason.

__________

Hyunji walked inside the living room, her eyes instantly meeting her lover's as she walked towards him, leaning into his side as he put his arm around her. He took his eyes off the list of songs on his phone, still waiting for Jimin to finish setting up the machine.

"Are you okay?" He looked at her, knowing something was off.

"Yes. . . " She said, but he raised his eyebrow and tilted his head in disbelief. He knew her better than that. "Me and Eunji got in a little spat. It's nothing new."

"You wanna talk about it-"

"No, no. I came inside to watch you sing and enjoy our last night here."

"Okay. You're welcome to sing with me." Jungkook grinned, knowing the answer.

"I'll just watch you." Hyunji kissed his cheek.

"Thank God," He spoke just loud enough for her to hear.

"Jeon Jungkook!" She slapped his shoulder hearing him giggle.

While the group began singing beginning with Yuri and Taehyung's father none of them noticed Yuri's mom slip out the back door.

__________

Eunji listened as the back door shut, she took a deep breath and turned around.

"Oh," She breathed out.

It wasn't Tae.

How she was disappointed yet relieved all at the same time made no sense to her.

"Are you still feeling sick?" Tae's mother asked.

"Eh, the fresh air helped a little bit." Eunji replied, turning to her.

"That's good." She glanced at the house she noticed her son looking through the back door curiously. "Eunji, I don't usually meddle in my son's business, let alone his love life. But trust me, I've never seen him look at a girl the way he does with you. He's eyes practically sparkle."

Was I that obvious? Eunji thought.

Eunji awkwardly laughed looking everywhere but his mothers eyes. Eunji couldn't begin to know how to respond.

"When I mentioned he hasn't asked you to be his girlfriend I didn't mean to cause you any doubt in Tae. I was just messing around, but I saw how your face dropped and I can't be the cause of issues in your relationship." His mom softly spoke.

"I know you meant no harm. I didn't think I was that obvious." Eunji ran her fingers through her hair.

"Takes one to know one. I get it, finding decent men was hard in my day, but it must be even harder now. Taehyung adores you, and he's quite a gentleman. And no I'm not just saying it because he's my son, though I'm just a tad bit biased."

They both chuckled, and Eunji felt more comfortable around his mother now.

"Thank you." Eunji smiled.

"No problem." She said.

Yuri and Jimin singing (or screeching) at the top of their lungs was heard in the background catching their attention. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. . . . Except for Taehyung.

"You should get back inside soon, I can't bear to see those sad lil' puppy eyes he's giving you any longer." His mom looked inside, seeing Taehyung's sad gaze. "It just breaks my heart." She dramatically spoke, putting her hand to her chest.

"I will. Those puppy eyes will get you to do anything." Eunji laughed.

They both headed back to the house listening to the happy shouting and laughing that echoed through the house.

"C'mon Tae! I put this on just for you!" Jimin shouted, grabbing Tae's arm and pulling him up and shoving a microphone into his hand.

Jimin handed Taehyung his phone with some lyrics on it as he turned up the volume of the song. Nodding his head to the beat Tae took a deep breath before he began rapping, or at least trying to rap. He took it seriously, bobbing his head to the music and making all sorts of wacky hand gestures as the others cheered him on as if they were at a concert.

Eunji and his mom walked through the back door as Taehyung began slurring through the words of a faster line of the song pretending he aced it. The door slammed shut and Tae briefly looked in that direction and say Eunji. He came to a halt as he got all shy and blushy in front of her. He wasn't prepared for her to see him this goofy.

"I've heard you rap the first half of the song, don't be a quitter!" Eunji encouraged him.

He quietly giggled before enthusiastically finishing the song with more energy than before. Even though it didn't sound any better he had finished the song and got plenty of over dramatic clapping and cheers from his small "audience".
