Part 1-10

Part 1- Where to Begin
You walk into your flat, Sherlock two steps behind you. You sit on the couch as soon as you unlock the door, placing your coat at your side. You get your cup of tea off the table and start to sip when you get a text. It's from Lestrade. It has an address accompanied by the words "there's a new one. Don't tell SH."

Go to the crime scene without Sherlock: Part 3

Part 2- No Secrets

"Sherlock. I've just gotten a text from Lestrade. There's a new case and I think he wants both of us to help." Wow, way to lie. Why not listen to Lestrade for once? "You go call a cab while I tell him we are coming." You pretend to text Lestrade while Sherlock goes outside and hails a cab. Sorry Greg.

Realizing that you made a mistake (with help from me, the narrator) you open the window and use the fire escape. You walk a few blocks before hailing a cab. Sherlock can't find out.

Part 3- Tell the Truth

You tell Sherlock you're going to go shopping for some food, exclaiming that there's no decent food in the flat. You know that it works, but not for long. Soon Sherlock will find out where you are and come investigate. Better hurry. You practically run outside and call a cab, going immediately to the crime scene.

Part 4- Narrators know best

You get a text that you want to involve Sherlock in but can't. Next best thing: leave Sherlock and do not tell Lestrade that Sherlock knows/will find out sooner or later. Btw I'm really admiring your choices. You took my advice to listen to Greg, and here you are! Let's just hope that this works out in your favour.

You get to the crime scene and pass under the POLICE tape while Sally Donovan holds it for you. "Sherlock's not here?" She asks as she lowers her arm. You shake your head and walk into the flat.

"There you are!" Lestrade exclaims. "Thanks for not bringing Sherlock, I don't want him to get all hyper because this case is... Familiar. I'll show you."

He waits for you to put on the white suit and gloves (so you don't alter the crime scene in any way) and you follow him upstairs. There, in the middle of the room, is a young boy. The word Rache is written above his head, and you see an IOU at his feet. "I owe you a come back with all my greatest hits", you read out loud. "The least I can do after you've missed me for so long." It's all written in marker.

You look at Lestrade before looking to examine the boy. His shirt. There are grenades on it. This really is a throwback to some of his most popular cases. Rache from his first case that was ever documented, IOU from you know when, bombs and a little boy from when Sherlock just saved the kid and figured out how the painting was fake. But this is only the beginning, dear reader. For example, who's that knocking on the door?

Open the door: Part 5
Its (probably) Sherlock, let Lestrade open the door: Part 6
Leave it and look at Lestrade with an annoyed look that says "we have a crime to deal with, who cares about someone knocking": Part 7

Part 5- Mercy

You open the door, revealing Sherlock standing beside an officer. The officer, with a pissed expression and attitude, looks from Lestrade to you. He stares into your eyes. "I think he's with you," the officer angrily says while pushing Sherlock in the room.

You nearly fall over with Sherlock being pushed into you, but manage to keep your balance long enough to stand. Sherlock, on the other hand, falls on the ground; giving you enough time to look at Lestrade, mouth the words I'm sorry and help Sherlock up.

"What did I miss?" Sherlock asks.

Explain what happened before Lestrade starts screaming: part 8

Part 6- Lie. And pray. I can control the story but I really can't help you right now so good luck. Did I mention that you should lie?

Lestrade goes to open the door, and while he's turning the handle you scream for him to wait. But you're too late. This is when you start to pray. And thank God! It's just a cop! Sherlock hasn't showed up yet.

You sigh and relax. Congratulations! Except this is the sixth part and I need to make things complicated for you; please don't hate me. I was wrong, it's not just a cop. Because five seconds later, Sherlock walks in and the cop leaves, and you need to explain yourself. Now you should lie.

Explain what happened before Lestrade's face turns as red as a balloon and all the helium (and profanities) leave his mouth and you lose your job over at Scotland Yard: part 8

Part 7- just hope for the best?

You tried ignoring the knocking at the door, but about ten seconds later Lestrade becomes agitated and opens the door. My advice? Read the title of this part again and... Yeah. Read it and read it until you understand.

So.. Where were we again? Oh yeah, Lestrade---> door.

Lestrade puts his hand on the doorknob as you hold your breath (and IRL re-reading the part title.) Guess who's at the door. A simple, plain police officer. Thank God. But I'm not going to let you go that easy. Everyone knows that with Sherlock you always hope for the best, but it never really happens. Ok, you ready for this? Guess who's behind the police officer? Sherlock!

Now you should hope for the best. Good luck explaining this to Lestrade!

Explain to Lestrade before you lose your job and/or your flat mate: part 8
Avoid the situation and leave: Part 9

Part 8- I can't stress this enough, I am not held liable for what happens next. You decided what to do and everything just sort of led here? Idk just be glad this book is easy to follow

"Sherlock?!" Greg looked shocked. Which he should be.

"Detective Inspector Lestrade, what do we have here?" Sherlock started to expect the room.

Greg flashed you an exasperated look. "I told you not to tell him!"

You shrugged your shoulders as Sherlock started explaining. "I'm a sociopath, I will find this crime scene no matter what and even if I didn't come here I would see this in the newspaper and on the news and I would've called and told you who did it."

"We all know who did it," you say. "Moriarty. Has to be."

"No... not Moriarty," Sherlock looks away from the boy's body and looks at you and Greg. "Has to be his network. Although I thought I took that apart...."

"Wait, did you follow me here?" Sherlock looks at you. Sighs. Looks back at the crime scene. You look at Greg. "He totally followed me here!"

"I think we have more pressing matters y/n." You look back at the crime scene, and three seconds later Greg turns you around. "Your job." S*!#

Mentally prepare yourself to talk to Lestrade. Good luck!: Part 10

Part 9- You need to leave
You see Sherlock and immediately do the first thing that comes to your head when faced with a responsible and adult situation that needs to be dealt with. Run. You go to grab Sherlock's arm, but he easily dodges you, letting you smash into the wall behind him. He walks into the room, ignoring Lestrade completely. He focuses on the boy, the message, the grenades on the boy's shirt, the height and slight smudge of the writing; for some reason he examines the floor boards, the windows, and the door. Regaining your balance and dignity from crashing into a wall, you walk over to Greg, a puppy-pout playing on your lips.

"It wasn't done by Moriarty, if you're wondering." Sherlock is prancing around the room, explaining his brilliance. "It was done by his Network. Someone tall, based on the writing. You write at eye level, which is how I know... if you were wondering.... Are you two even listening?"

You and Greg both look at Sherlock, who doesn't seem to care and continues anyways. Greg looks back at you almost immediately, a disappointed and angry look on his face. You can physically see the fire in his eyes.

You gesture towards the door, "Would it be inappropriate if I decided to run out of the crime scene again?"

Greg nods. You prepare for the worst.

Suffer the consequences (but still be prepared to run out the door at any moment): Part 10

Part 10- unemployed and what to do next

"Why do you look so worried? I'm not going to fire you!" Lestrade let out a chuckle as you let out a (very needed) sigh. "I need you both on this case. Honestly, I don't know why, but people in London are so psychotic and crazy! I would get it if it was a distinct part of the UK, but just London? It's bloody bonkers."

Sherlock pranced around the room, like a dancing gazelle. You  could finally smile at this because you realize that you're still going to be able to work on cases. It is a bit strange that he's so excited about this, but it's only because he's figured something out.

"I knew Sherlock was going to come, anyways. Can't stop Sherlock. Even when you want to, or when he makes you believe it for two years." Lestrade looks at Sherlock. "What did you figure out?"

"Like I may or may not have mentioned before," Sherlock starts, "I know the mans height and approximate shoe size. I know that he is left handed, and that this boy has been dead for quite some time. Cancer patient. There are signs of a hyperextension of the neck and, from texting Molly while you two were talking, there had been signs of internal bleeding. The loss of hair was also a pretty big give away. I can show you exactly how the boy was brought in here, I can show you evidence that there was more than one man here, with one looking out the window, one writing, one at the front door downstairs. I can show you almost exactly what happened, I just don't know who."

You and Lestrade exchange woah glances. Even though you have been doing this with Sherlock for five years, you are still amazed at what he can figure out. He looks out the window, and immediately jumps back from it.

"There's someone down there! One of the people that were here, no doubt. Anyone care to come with me?" Sherlock looks between you and Lestrade. Who will go and who will stay? Who will run and who will deduce?

Now, dear reader, let's see what you can figure out. What do you want to do now?

Go with Sherlock on probably the most epic on-foot chase of your life: Part 11                          Stay and try to make deductions about the crime scene (Sherlock probably missed something, and you're very smart): Part 12                                                                                                     Let Sherlock decide: Part 13
