Chapter 5: Romeo and Cinderella

3rd Person POV:

"You wanted to see me?" Amao asked the younger boy.

"I saw you give (Y/N)-chan a cake the other day. And you've been starring at her whenever you see her lately." Hanakō said. "I thought you liked Onee-chan. So why did you give (Y/N)-chan a cake?"

"I was just returning the favor since she gave me something." Amao said. "And you're correct, I liked you're sister. At least I did."

"You did?" Hanakō questioned, raising a brow.

"Those feelings I had for Taeko-chan have slowly gone away." Amao said. "But whenever (Y/N)-chan notices me, my heart is filled millions of sweet flavors. (Y/N)-chan is like dark chocolate."

Hanakō felt his anger rise. The younger boy wouldn't deny that he developed feelings for the (h/c) haired matchmaker. Hearing that the cooking club leader is also started to develop feelings for (Y/N) made him jealous.

"(Y/N)-chan is mine!" Hanakō yelled, puffing his cheeks angrily.

"Then let the best man win, because I won't give up." Amao said with a slightly threatening smile before walking away.

Meanwhile, there were two people to have witnessed hanakō's and Amao's conversation.

One of those people being Osano Najimi, who happened to be passing by. Osano couldn't help but think of the day (Y/N) whispered in his ear when he heard her name. He thought she was going to kiss him.

Osano felt his face go red again. He questioned his feelings. He was sure that he liked Taeko, but just thinking about the matchmaker made him flustered. He wasn't sure what to do.

The other witness was Info-kun, who saw it all go down in the safety of the Info clubroom on his cameras. Being a long time friend of the (h/c)ette's, he knew it would only be a matter of time before she found out, even without his help. Info-kun figured Hanakō and Amao fell for the matchmaker's phony personality. If that's the case then they had no idea what they were getting themselves into.

Even so, Info-kun couldn't help but wonder if he should persuade Ayato to kill the two boys...

(Y/N)'s POV:

"A play?" Ayato and I asked at the same time.

The two of us arrived to class at the same time, only to see our classmates excited faces.

"Yeah! The drama club chose our class to put on the semester play with them!" Koharu said happily.

Wait, the drama club? Isn't the leader of the drama club another one of Ayato's rivals?

"What kind of play are we doing?" I asked.

"It hasn't been decided yet but it's most likely going to be a romance. The drama club leader likes to play the leading male in a romance." Mina said.

Great, a romance. And it will probably be some fancy theater one too.

"Oh...That sounds like... Fun..." I said, trying not show my sarcasm.

"I know right?! Let's go to the drama clubroom!" Koharu said.

Before Ayato and I could say or do anything, our classmates were practically dragging us out of the classroom. (And I'm mentally crying because I can't take a nap on the desk.)

And now our entire class was in the drama clubroom, waiting for the drama club members to prepare.

"I'm gonna lay on you're shoulder for a bit, okay Ayato-kun?" I (stated) asked.

"Alright." Ayato said, not really caring.

As I rested on Ayato's shoulder, I noticed Ayato making metal notes. I didn't really care so I just closed my eyes until the club leader came out.

He had long(-ish) violet hair, curled into a side ponytail that was really close to being the anime hair of death. He also wore a freaking cape. Oh boy, he's got an ego on him doesn't he?

"Lady's and gentleman, I am Kizano Sunobu. And just so we're clear now, anyone going for the male lead..." Kizano said. "...Should just give up now because that spot obviously belongs to me! After all, I am the best there is!"

Yup, he's got an ego. And it looks like he might be an Oujidere* too.

"Now, first thing is to choose what play we'll be performing." Kizano said with a cocky smirk. "Since I'm sure you all are too amateur to pull off Romeo and Juliet."

"I'm killing him now..." Ayato whispered to me, about to pull out his knife from his uniform pocket.

"Too many witnesses." I whispered back, slowly putting his knife back in his pocket. "Patience is virtue, give it time."

Most of the class stayed silent, not sure what to do for the play.

"Well if no one has a suggestion, I guess we have no choice but to do Romeo and-" Kizano started to say before I (purposely) cut him off.

"How about Cinderella?" I suggested, acting like I did just purposely wait for him to say something so I can cut him off.

"Huh? Why do you suggest that?" Kizano asked.

Because it's the closest I'm going to get to something anime related. Since there's quite a few manga that have a school play on Cinderella.

"Well our school performs Romeo and Juliet a lot, so how about a change of paste." I answered. "You can even play as a prince!"

"Well, I do make an excellent prince! Alright, it's settled! Let's do Cinderella!" Kizano said.

He really is an Oujidere!

And now everyone is practicing different parts to determine who plays what role. Kizano is really harsh, he's already rejected five different Cinderella additions. Ayato ended up as an extra because he couldn't act...at all.

I was reading the script (that was made surprisingly fast) when Koharu and Mina came up to me.

"(Y/N)-chan, you should try out for Cinderella!" Koharu said. "All the other girls (and even some guys) have been rejected!"

All of them!?! Sh*t, I know Kizano is an acting prodigy but come on! He can't be so picky if he wants a play to perform in!

"Um, well, I was just going to play as the evil stepmother or something..." I tried to decline.

I needed an excuse to be an *sshole in public, and what better way than to play someone who's whole purpose is to be a b*tch.

"I bet you would be a great Cinderella!" Mina said, pushing me towards Kizano. "Besides, you're too nice to be the evil stepmother!"

NOT laughing at that comment was such a difficult thing to do...

I was pushed towards Kizano by Mina and Koharu.

"You can do it (Y/N)-chan!" Koharu cheered, catching Kizano's attention.

"You're friends with that Aishi-kun guy, right?" Kizano said. "Well if you're anything like him, you should just give up now!"

My eye nearly twitched, maybe I should have recommended Macbeth instead. The lead for that would suit this narcissistic wannabe prince well.
Though I'm sure if the school would allow a decapitation scene...

"Then what part should I recite?" I asked, kindly.

"The scene right after Cinderella's dress gets torn by her stepsisters and can't attend the ball." Kizano said.

A small smirk made it's way on my face before falling into character.

I dropped to the ground, tears falling down my face. My body shook as I slowly lifted my head, revealing my tear stained, lonely looking face.

"W-Why...? I just wanted to go to the ball...! I just wanted to be free for one night...!" I cried, sounding like an abandoned child. "Why...can't I be free from this terrible life...For just one night...?"

"Stop! I've seen enough!" Kizano said.

Immediately, the tears disappeared from my eyes. I stood up, now looking at Kizano.

"Well, I thought you would be horrible since the Aishi-kun guy couldn't act to save his life." Kizano said. "But you're better than everyone else here so you're worthy of being my Cinderella!"

You know the "my" part really wasn't necessary...

"That was amazing (Y/N)-chan! You're such a good and convincing actress! I really thought you were crying!" Koharu said.

Well I have a lot of practice pretending to be nice to people. Though it helps that you people are so gullible.

"I'm surprised you haven't joined the drama club yet. We could use someone as talented as you." Boobs Mackenzie - I mean Kokona said, joining into our conversation.

"Well I usually have kendo lessons after school so joining clubs would be difficult." I said in my nice person act.

"Then we'll have practice on the weekend and during the first break. Do I make myself clear?" Kizano said.

Everyone nodded.

"Alright then! Everyone practice you're line's! You should have them memorized by this weekend!" Kizano said.

A few people panicked, I'm guessing they weren't expecting to have to memorize the script so soon. Memorizing my line's are not a problem. After all, no one can accuse me of cheating if there's no evidence on me. I've already memorized the whole script.

"I don't get... You satisfied Kizano-kun so easily..." Ayato said. "Is there anything you can't do."

Well being genuinely nice to people is one. Another thing being understanding the people who question people's crushes on fictional characters, but have celebrity crushes themselves.

"Of course there is." I said, only loud enough for Ayato to hear me. "But tricking people into thinking you're good at almost anything makes you're lies more convincing."

Ayato starred at me for awhile, nodding a few times. He's making more mental notes again... No wonder he's bad at acting, he has to see examples to perform anything.

Ayato looked over at Kizano before turning back to me.

"So can I kill him now?" Ayato asked.

"Still too many witnesses." I said, sighing deeply at his impatience.

Yandere boy or not, Ayato still got ways to go*...

To be continued.
