Probably a flu.
Aurora was saved from the embarrassment of standing there when her phone started ringing.
She grimaced as she saw her dad's name and walked out of the room, "Hey Dad."
"Aurora, I don't think I can be more disappointed in you. You're immature, attention seeking..." as her dad continued to ramble off all her negative attributes about her she sat down on the porch biting back tears.
"When are you going to take life seriously? You can't keep joking around like a five-year-old," her father said, sighing in frustration. It was clear that he'd had it.
"I'm...I'm sorry Dad," Aurora blinked back her tears as her voice cracked.
"No, Aurora. Sorry isn't enough any more. You can't come home this holiday. I think it's better if you stay away from her this holiday. I really have tried everything Aurora but I'm giving up. I'm hoping your aunt will have more success," he said sighing and Aurora's heart broke at those words.
Ever since her mum stopped being around she had learnt to try and distract herself with her stupid stunts. She couldn't handle strong emotions. Whenever her emotions became too serious she only knew to respond by either running away from them or doing something that would distract her from them. Her stunts didn't make her happy, they just distracted her from the pain.
So the more her dad tried his best to talk to her after what happened with her mum, the more she pushed him away. She blocked him and everyone else out, even Hannah.
"Okay Dad," she said sighing.
Her dad might have thought he had been too harsh and quickly changed tracks, "Aurora, you know I just want the best for you. I know what you're capable of and it isn't limited to silly stunts. I know what happened to your mum really affected you but you have to move on and be happy."
His voice was pleading with her, begging her to somehow become better. She closed her eyes and sighed. She had promised to never forgive herself for what had happened to her mum but she couldn't tell her dad that.
"I'll try, Dad. I promise I'll try," she said instead, knowing it was what he wanted to hear so it was what he would give her.
"Good. Always know that I love you sweetheart," he finished.
"I know Dad," she answered. He had wanted her to say she loved him too but her mum was the last person she had ever said those words to. She finished the phone call but didn't move from her position on the porch.
She took in a deep breathe as she heard another car approach knowing it was her aunt. She couldn't let her be seen like this. She stood up and passed her hand through her hair which was so long that it almost worked as a carpet when she was seated. She immediately forced a smile on her face, if everyone else believed she was happy maybe she'll start believing it too.

"So what were you planning to do during the holiday, Auorora?" Aurora's aunt asked as she manoeuvred through the full kitchen. Aurora and Tamara were crowded around the stove cooking while the boys got into everyone's way trying to get the plates to set the table.
"I was planning to focus on my euthanasia campaign," Aurora said shrugging as she stirred the sauce. Everyone in the room stopped and looked at her and she rolled her eyes. Most people took her to be a very dumb person but she wasn't.
"What's euthanasia?" Leo asked pronouncing the last word carefully.
"Euthanasia is the killing of a living thing such as a cat or a dog," Nicholas explained looking at Aurora carefully, "What does that have to do with you?"
"I'm running a campaign to make it illegal. There's also a charity I'm carrying out to get enough money to donate to various animal shelters across the country. Sometimes it's not about wanting to kill the animals but lacking funds to take care of them. I was planning to go around different states to promote it," she explained focusing solely on the pot.
People found her obsession with animals a little weird. They thought she spent too much time on her projects with them. She wasn't about to meet the judgemental stares about to land on her.
"That's actually pretty cool," she expected this to have come from Jesse since he seemed to be the most talkative but was surprised that it had come from Tyler.
He had ignored her earlier and she had decided that she didn't like him but now started to rethink that decision. There was nothing judgemental in his eyes. He offered her a small smile and she had to cover her teeth with her upper lip so that they couldn't see that she had bit her lower lip to stop the spreading smile. His smile was cute. It was a nervous one where he bit his lower lip shyly while he looked up at her.
As their eyes met she couldn't help noticing that his eyes were brighter than his brothers. Theirs were chocolate brown while Tyler's was a golden brown. She felt something stir up inside her and her hands became sweaty and she felt the urge to wipe her hands on the apron she was wearing. Her stomach also started feeling queasy. She was definitely coming down with something. Probably a flu.
"Um...thanks," she said quickly and turned back to the pot, "The campaign's going really great. I've met with some animal activists and the topic has even been put in our national debate competition."
She looked up to see her aunt smiling proudly at her and a warm feeling came to her stomach.
In a few minutes dinner was ready and everyone sat down.
Jesse couldn't help grinning as he watched his brothers. He couldn't remember the last time they sat down together around a table. They pretty much lived on take-outs but when their manager had called them the day before they were supposed to begin their tour to welcome them for dinner he knew it might be good for his brothers. Their manager had become like a second mum to them and she had done more than they could wish for.
"So Aurora, I found a summer job for you?" Tamara's mum said excitedly and Aurora looked at her wearily.
"You mean another job other than setting the world record for longest hours spent watching Netflix?" She asked and they were snickers around the table.
"How would you like going on tour with us?" Her aunt asked after she had finished rolling her eyes.
"Why?" Was the first thing out of Aurora's mouth and she noticed just how bad it sounded, "Not that I don't want to but I'm just wondering why because it's not really a job and..."
She quickly stopped herself from ending up like a blubbering idiot. What was wrong with her today?
"Well your job will be in charge of the band's public image. What you should do is make sure that everyone is talking about them. I know you're really into that kind of thing," her aunt explained.
Aurora feigned hurt, "Well it's nice to know that you only want me for Instagram followers."
Her aunt gave her a smile, "So do you want to come?"
Aurora thought it over as she munched on lettuce. For a summer job it was pretty great and she knew it would make her father happy. She would also get to travel all around the country and continue on her euthanasia campaign. Also, a part of her was excited to hang out with her cousin and aunt and the four gorgeous boys were an added bonus.
She glanced up to meet a pair of golden eyes that quickly averted their gaze and she smiled. Maybe it won't be so bad to have a change this summer.
Hey guys. So this chapter was mostly a filler and to create awareness of euthanasia which I think is just horrible. Tell me your thoughts on the topic and anything else. Show you love by voting, commenting and sharing.
