Chapter One
Taylor's POV
"What?! Boarding school? You're sending me to boarding school instead of teaching me to drive like any other normal parents would?" I screeched in disbelief.
"Taylor, Miss Katrina's School of Driving is the best driving school there is. It may be a boarding school but you will learn how to drive better there than me or your father could ever teach you." My mother said placing her hand on top of mine.
"I'm not going. I'm not going to fucking boarding school. It's senior year and I'm not going to boarding school and missing out on prom and graduation with all my friends."
"Sweetie, you'll make friends there, and since it's a year long school they have normal classes too. You'll be able to go to prom and graduation, it'll just be at a different school." My mother told me.
"I'm not going."
WHAM!
"Taylor! You are going. End of story. We have already paid for this school and planned our trip. You are going whether you want to or not and your mother and I will be leaving for Bora Bora on the day we planned to. I am not going to cancel my trip." My dad said, slamming his hand down on the table.
I crossed my arms and bit my lip to hold back tears. I stared them down and neither of them flinched.
"Fine."
Indie's POV
I was walking into the kitchen to refill my water glass when I spotted a folder advertising a boarding school.
The first thing that popped into my mind was the ED Unit of the hospital. I had just been released three months ago and now my parents were probably trying to send me to boarding school to cure me.
"Mom? What is this brochure for?" I asked.
"It's for a boarding school that will teach you how to drive. Your father and I have decided that it would be the best thing for you right now." She said, never taking her eyes off of the pan she was stirring.
My heart dropped. Boarding school? Driving? I couldn't do it. I couldn't.
"I'm not going Mom. You know how I feel about cars and driving ever since the accident." I said, trying not to think about it.
"Indie. You are 17 years old. You can't scared of driving forever. The accident was 5 years ago. You have to move on, honey." She said, actually looking up at me.
She had moved on. My dad had moved on. Why couldn't I? It wasn't my fault. I didn't cause Nora to crash.
"I did not cause the crash. The crash is not my fault. I did not cause the crash. The crash is not my fault." I whispered to myself.
"Indie, go upstairs and wash up. Dinner is almost ready and you know better than to make your father wait." My mom said, putting plates on the table.
Khushi's POV
"Khushi! Come down to the living room please. Your father and I have something we would like to talk to you about." My mother yelled upstairs to me as I was laying out my school clothes for tomorrow.
"Coming mother." I yelled down to her.
When I walked in to the living room my parents were sitting on the couch with a folder in between them. I sat down in the chair across from them and braced myself for what they might say.
"Khushi, your driving teacher made us aware of the fact that you have failed drivers ed again. You know what we said after you failed during first semester. I will not break my promise so you will be going to driving school during senior year." My father said, a stern look on his face.
"It's the best school for driving there is and has extremely good ratings. You'll be there for a year. It's a boarding school called Miss Katrina's School of Driving. Now, they not only teach driving but all other subjects as well. That means you'll be able to go to graduation and prom and such." My mother told me.
I was shocked. Boarding school? Sure, I may be a terrible driver and failed drivers ed twice but isn't boarding school a little extreme?
"Boarding school? I can't go to boarding school. All my friends are here and we've been planning our prom and graduation outfits for forever. I can't go to boarding school and miss all that!" I exclaimed, wishing they would change their minds.
"Khushi, sweetheart, we only want the best for yo-" My mother started to say but was cut off by my father.
"You are going, Khushi. We have already paid for this school. You leave next week. You'll have to say goodbye to friends before then." My father said, getting up and going into his study.
I sat on the couch, in shock. How could I say goodbye to all my friends in just a week? What would happen to all my prom and graduation plans? What would happen when I told my friends?
Finley's POV
I heard the front door open and my mother came inside. I took a deep breath and hoped that she would let me go.
"Mom? Can I talk to you?" I asked my mother as she came in the door from work.
"Sure hun. What is it?" She asked, blowing hair out of her eyes.
"You know how I keep failing drivers ed?"
She nodded.
"Well, Mr. Davidson recommended this boarding school to me a while back. It's the best driving school in the country and they offer scholarships to deserving students. I applied and I got my acceptance letter in the mail yesterday. If I go I need to leave in a week. Can I go?" I asked, handing her a folder with information about the school and my acceptance package they sent in the mail.
She looked over the folder and read my acceptance letter carefully.
"You got a full ride scholarship? Honey, that's great! Of course you can go. And while we're celebrating I have something to tell you." She said, pausing.
"I'm pregnant." She said, full of excitement.
"Mom, that's great! How far along are you? Who's the father? Do you know the gender yet? When are you due?" I asked, thrilled about being a big sister.
"I had an ultrasound today and they said I'm 12 weeks pregnant. The father is my boyfriend, Bryce. I won't know the gender for another month or so but I will call you and tell you the minute I find out. As of now my due date is April 25th give or take a few days."
"Mom, I didn't even know you had a boyfriend! How long have you been together? Are you getting married?"
"We've been dating about 8 months. And we're not engaged yet, but I think he's going to propose soon!" She said, jumping up and down.
I celebrated with her. I was going to the school of my dreams, and going to be a big sister. My mom was pregnant and possibly engaged. Could life get any better than this?
Victoria's POV
"I'm home!" My dad said, slamming the front door shut and setting down his briefcase.
"Dad!" My twin brothers yelled, running to him.
"Daddy!" My sister said, also running towards him.
I hung back while they crowded around him, each wanting his attention.
"Dad, Ben found a caterpillar outside today and he let me hold it!" Carter said, excitedly.
"We named it Joseph!" Ben said, just as excited as Carter.
"Daddy look! I'm Cinderella!" Mira said, twirling around in her princess Cinderella dress.
He laughed and sent them upstairs to wash their hands before dinner.
"How's my special girl doing?" My dad asked, hugging me.
"I'm great. How was work?" I asked.
"The same old stuff. Oh and don't let me forget but your father and I have to talk to you after dinner." He said unbuttoning his suit jacket.
"About what?"
"Nothing, Victoria. Go upstairs and help your brother and sister get ready for dinner." My father told me, glaring at his husband.
"Nice to see you to honey." My dad mumbled underneath his breath, which got him another glare from my father.
I headed upstairs but stopped when I could hear them arguing about me.
"She's going to find out sooner or later. Why does it matter when we tell her?"
"I didn't want to tell her early and have her freak out. Remember when we signed her up for summer camp and told her over spring break? She never left our side and refused to go to camp until I physically pried her off of your leg. Do you really want a summer camp scene again?"
"She's 17 now. That was 7 years ago. I think she'll be fine. And even if she's not we already paid a ton of money for this school. We can't afford for her to not go. We're driving her down there instead of having her fly down by herself and she'll just have to say her goodbyes during the car ride." My dad said.
Just as my father was getting ready to respond, I sneezed. Oh no. Now they knew that I had been listening to their conversation.
"Victoria? Is that you?" My Dad asked.
I meekly stepped out from behind the wall and gave a smile smile.
My father sighed.
"We didn't want you to find out like this but might as well tell you now. Your father and I are sending you to boarding school. It's a driving school but they also have regular classes, a prom, and graduation." My dad said.
"You'll be there for a year. We're going to drive you down instead of flying. We leave in a week." My father said.
I stood there trying to process what they said. Boarding school? I couldn't go to boarding school.
"But..who'll babysit Carter and Ben and Mira? What about my art? What about my friends?"
"We'll get a baby sister and Miss Katrina's School of Driving has a fantastic art program."
"You'll make new friends there. It'll be okay Victoria. It's only a year. It'll fly by and before you know it, it'll be over." My dad said.
They pulled me into a hug and I stood there, still processing what they had said.
