SEEING SOMEONE die in front of you was something that many supes should expect, but this was different.

Corinna didn't feel like a hero. She never felt like a hero. She never saved anyone before, she couldn't even save herself.

All she did was stand there with silent tears running down her face as she watch Shetty take her last breath and Jordan with blood all over their hands and body as they tried their best to stop the bleeding from Shetty's neck.

Corinna could've saved her. She had the ability to save her and Cate didn't let her.

"Okay, look," Jordan said quickly, standing to their feet. "let's all just calm down a-and assess the situation."

"The situation's bleeding all over the fucking rug." Emma said, now standing above Shetty.

"We just... we have to figure out what to do now." Jordan said.

Marie turned, looking at Cate. "You murdered her."

"Marie, I did this... for you." She said. "I did this for all of you. When I'm done, maybe eventually you'll realize I'm being a hero."

Sam stepped forward. "I want to be a hero, too."

"Of course, Sam." Cate smiled.

"Leave him alone." Emma said.

"Shetty sucked." Sam said. "I'm not an experiment."

"Shetty sucked." Corinna said, eyes landing on her. "And she did some horrible fucking things." She paused. "But she didn't deserve to die when she could've forgotten."

Corinna stepped forward, gently brushing past Marie as she grabbed Cate's wrist, her eyes shining as she did so.

"What are you gonna do, Cate?" She asked.

Cate paused. Corinna grip on her arm almost bringing her comfort, but she pushed that feeling aside quickly. "We are gonna free The Woods."

"Sam, don't go with her." Emma demanded.

"This is about you, too." Sam said. "If they find out what happened here, I'm not gonna be the only one they torture. Maybe it's time for me to save you."

Cate finally shook her wrist from Corinna's hands and turned around to exit with Sam, but once they turned they saw Jordan standing there in their feminine form.

"You can beat me." Cate began. "But do you really think you can beat him?"

They could... they had. Back at Cardosa's. Jordan sent Sam flying through Cardosa's house.

Jordan simply looked over at Corinna. They saw her sigh heavily before shaking her head.

Yes, they could all easily take Sam, but they would grow tired and he would not.

That's the only reason Jordan stepped to the side and allowed Cate and Sam leaving Shetty's house.

Jordan sighed once they were gone, they let out a small "fuck" and began pulling their phone out.

"Who are you calling?" Emma asked.

"Campus security emergency line."

Emma quickly slapped Jordan's phone out of their hands. "Yo." Jordan exclaimed.

"Are you crazy?" Emma asked. "They'll get Sam."

"What about all the people in The Woods?" Jordan asked. "She lets them out, it's gonna be chaos."

"Jordan-" Corinna called, grabbing Jordan's hands with her eyes sparking.

"You, too?"

"Everything is fucked. Godolkin, Vought, this whole situation is fucked up." She said.

"So, what, we just sit here?" They asked.

"No." Marie said. "We stop them."

She said it as if it would be so simple. That stopping people who'd been tortured for months on end would be as simple as clapping your hands or figuring out what 2 plus 2 is.

But stopping them would be better than sitting there and letting them destroy all of Godolkin.

So, after trying to get in touch with Andre and failing, the four of them (Emma, Corinna, Marie, and Jordan) found themselves down in The Woods and seeing a dead officer as they exited the elevator.

"Oh, Jesus." Emma muttered, peeking down the halls and seeing all the doors opened.

"Emma, you clear the Performing Arts center." Marie instructed. "Okay, teachers, administration. Jordan, Corinna, you sweep the student union."

"There's a panic button in Shetty's office." Jordan said, still presenting as female. "Under her desk. It'll lock down pretty much everything."

"Okay, that's where I'm going."

The group separated and Jordan and Corinna made their way down to the student union, Jordan now presenting as masculine as they saw people running, hiding, dead, or dying in front of them.

Then suddenly, there was a loud ringing noise that caused them and what seemed to be everyone around them, to fall to their knees. The noise loud, almost deafening as it continued.

But then it stopped and once again the kids in The Woods were back at it. Killing what seemed to be anyone in their way.

"We've got to find Marie, someone, there's no one here that can help us." Corinna said.

Jordan nodded, shifting from male to female as they ran out of the student union and towards the quad where they found Ashley Barrett and a couple of others standing at the front of the building, screaming as Jordan and Corinna approached.

"We need to get everybody back inside right now." Jordan instructed.

There was suddenly an explosion from inside the building and a kid from The Woods approaching them.

As he prepared to scream, using his powers, Jordan pushed Corinna and the others behind them and held their hand in the air, using their powers to push the supe further back causing him to hit his head on the pavement.

With that, Corinna turned, seeing the helicopter that had been landed nearby.

"Go to the helicopter." Corinna said.

"No, it's fucking grounded." Adam Bourke said.

"It's a fucking enclosed space." She exclaimed. "Do you want to stay here?"

"No!"

"Then go!" Jordan shouted.

They (Jordan) pushed them forward and they ran off towards the helicopter.

Suddenly, Jordan and Corinna found themselves surrounded by kids from The Woods.

A yellow beam had hit Jordan in their back, not causing them to fall, but to feel the pain and switch from feminine to masculine.

Then suddenly, Cate grabbed Corinna's shoulder.

"Kill him."

Corinna only nodded and made her way towards Jordan who suspected nothing as Corinna approached.

It was until she drew her hand back and she herself switched from her feminine self to her masculine form. Her fist hit Jordan in the face, but they didn't stumble... they only looked at the girl... the boy... their partner in shock.

It was until they notice Cate nodding and walking off that she was able to get to Corinna.

Jordan didn't have time as Corinna, still presenting as male (Cor = Corinna), shot a darkness energy ball towards them, sending them backwards, but not by much.

Jordan didn't want to fight her, it was the last thing that they wanted, but she wasn't letting up and they had no idea what they were capable of, especially when Cate had told her to do something and having no idea what that something was. Corinna wasn't going to let up until she'd done what Cate had told her to do.

Cor approached Jordan, her eyes now darkened, just like the time she killed off her father's arm, which he had to cut off by the way.

Cor raised her arm and sent another energy blast towards Jordan which stunted them and they found themselves on their knees as Cor approached and wrapped their hand tightly around their neck.

"Corinna," Jordan choked out. "you don't have to do this, okay?"

The grip around Jordan's neck only grew tighter with each word. They wrapped their hands around Cor's in hopes they could pull it off, but she wasn't letting up.

"Corinna..."

No matter what would happen, they would both be hurt in the end. If Corinna could, she would kill Jordan because she was under Cate's control. Corinna would have to live with the fact that she killed someone, someone she cared about.

It wouldn't end will for either of them... so why not just tell her.

"... I love you."

Cor didn't seemed phased... she didn't let up from Jordan's neck, but her eyes did lose the darkness from around them.

"I know-" They choked out. "I know that this is such a shitty fucking time to tell you and I know it may seem like I'm just saying it so you can let me go, but I love you no matter what happens. If I die, if you kill me, if we both live, I want you to know that I have always loved you. I should've said it sooner. I should've said it months ago and I'm sorry. I love you, Corinna and need you to know that."

Jordan felt the grip on their neck loosen until it suddenly disappeared. They were able to use their own powers to heal whatever Corinna had done.

Jordan watched as her eyes began to water and Corinna switched back into her female form, her eyes burning as she feel down to her knees in front of Jordan.

"I'm so sorry." She cried. She moved her hands gently back up towards their neck and caressed it gently. "I'm so fucking sorry. I- I don't-"

Jordan, his presenting as masculine, closed their eyes as they pulled Corinna into them.

Mass destruction all around, but for now, while they could, they sat with each other as Corinna cried into their shoulder and all she did was mutter "I'm so sorry" over and over.

Jordan knew that it wasn't Corinna intentionally trying to kill them, they knew better than that.

But they've fail to realize in that moment that Corinna was able to push past Cate's powers, past her demand.

That wasn't really a priority for them at the moment. All Jordan wanted was to see that if Corinna was okay and all Corinna wanted was to apologize for almost killing them.

With their eyes still shut and Corinna crying in their arms, Jordan took in a breath of relief and pressed their cheek to the side of her head. "I'm okay. It's okay." They muttered.

Corinna let her tears flow, but nodded at Jordan's answers. She pulled back as Jordan cupped her cheeks to wipe the fallen tears from her face.

"I love you so fucking much and I just-"

Before Corinna could finish her sentence, Jordan leaned in and kissed her deeply.

Jordan had seen the worst of her, and yet still held her with such tenderness and care.

As they broke apart, Jordan continued to hold Corinna close, their fingers still tangled in her hair.

But suddenly, Corinna was ripped away from Jordan's touch by some kids from The Woods.

They began to fight once again and

Corinna stood to her feet and turned, looking over at Marie with a small smile.

But that smile dropped as they took notice of Cate approaching Jordan with her hand stuck out.

That's when Corinna quickly placed her hands on Marie's shoulder and the girl looked over at her.

"Break her arm." Corinna muttered.

She had grabbed Cate's powers back at Shetty's.

And without hesitation, Marie stuck her hand up, holding it towards Cate and they all watched as the blonde screamed in agonizing pain.

Marie had used her powers to make Cate's arm explode, severing it off by the elbow.

They didn't have much time to react when there was a sonic boom heard from above. Lo and behold, Homelander had landed in front of the five and all commotion around them had died to silence.

"Sir, I, uh..."

Marie began to speak, but Homelander held his finger up, silencing her.

Homelander sighed, looking at Marie. "What... kind of animal are you?"

"What?"

"Do you like attacking your own kind?"

"That's not what happened." Corinna said.

"Stay back." Homelander said.

Then it was dark.

"THE HELL?"

Corinna turned at the sound of Marie's voice. A small smile on her face as she approached her bed.

"You're finally awake." Corinna said. "They didn't think you were gonna wake up."

Marie sat up, taking in her surroundings. She sat in an all white room with Emma, Jordan (now presenting as female), Corinna, and Andre as they all wore hospital gowns.

"What happened?" Marie asked.

"You and Corinna took that blast like a fucking champ." Andre said. "Anyone else would be in the ground."

Marie looked around the room. "There's no doors. Where are we?"

They had officially been in hell.

They had nowhere to run.

Nowhere to hide.

They've been shunned by society.

All because they wanted to be some fucking heroes.
