Charms Master and Headmaster of Hogwarts, Xavier Montgomery, stood in front of the students in the Great Hall, a solemn look on his face.

"It is with great sorrow that I address all of you this morning. It seems that while all of us were sleeping, there has been a crime committed within the walls of the school. I have contacted the proper authorities - if you must know, I mean The Minister for Magic and the Department of Magical Law Enforcement - and they're looking into it." He sighed. "All you need to know is that two students had gone missing in the night. We found them hanging from the Whomping Willow - which was likely jinxed with Immobulus to stop it from attacking whoever did this. I don't want to frighten all of you, but please be careful. If you have the sense - and most of you do - travel in groups to and from your classes and your respective houses"

He sighed again. "I will now release the names of the decedents. Please try to maintain composure when you hear them." He looked out to the crowd. "One of them was Arthur McLachlan, a fifth-year Ravenclaw. The other was Susan Jameson, a fourth-year Slytherin. I will alert their parents after breakfast."
