"Classwork!" Mr Bolu said. It was fourth period and the students of SS2B were having a math class.

"Sir why?" Daniel moaned from his seat

"Because why has a long tail with only two branches" Mr Bolu said before turning to write the class work on the board.

"Dry" Gabriella muttered so that only Daniel could hear her. She was sitting at the front of the class so Daniel had moved to her seat so that he could see the board.

"Exactly, if he wasnt my teacher I would have said it to his face.

Gabriella rolled her eyes. "Sure... and I own the Coca-Cola company"

Meanwhile, on her left, Rebecca was quietly seated nervously fidgeting with her pencil. She hasn't really studied the completing the square method and she knew that she was going to mess this up.

"You have twenty minutes!" Mr Bolu said.

Everyone began to solve the question frantically pressing their calculators and trying to do their work before time was up. People became hysterical when math teacher spoke

"Pens up!" He said.

"Sir please" A few students complained. Rebecca was already done with hers but she was sure that she had missed a few steps. Tom and Mabel were done too. Gabriella was trying to whisper the answers to Daniel.

"Don't forget to mark the class work with a pencil" Mr Bolu said. When he realised that no one was listening, he spoke again

"Exchange your books with your partner's before the count of three" Mr Bolu instructed. "One..."

The students began to exchange their books. Rebecca was going to exchange hers with Gabriella because of her bad score but Tom gave her his instead.

"Well at least you're not Mabel" Rebecca said.

Tom was wondering why she had said that when he looked up at the board. Mr Bolu was almost done with writing the correction and he could see that she had gotten most of them wrong.

"Are you sure you don't want me to change a few answers for you?" Tom asked "I do it for Daniel all the time"

"Is my score that bad?" Rebecca asked. Mr Bolu had finished writing the correction.

"Yes!" Tom said "Are you going to mark that?" He asked pointing to his book.

"Oh yeah right" Rebecca marked his class work quickly and they exchanged their books back.

"Oh my God!" Rebecca exclaimed to her self. She had only gotten two out of ten marks.

"Yeah, I got nine out of ten!" Tom said happily with a small distinct in the air. But then he saw  the look on Rebecca's face.

"I have to admit" Rebecca said somewhat sadly "I'm a bit jealous"

"Don't be, everybody has a bad day sometimes" Tom said reassuringly.

"Rebecca, pls collect all the notes and put them in my office before the end of break time" Mr Bold said.

"Yes sir" Rebecca answered.

People went around comparing their scores. From what Rebecca had heard, Tom had the highest score. Mabel had gotten eight marks and Gabriella, Hannah and Daniel had all got six marks.

"Oh" was all Gabriella could say when she saw Rebecca's score

"I'm sure Mr Bolu will record another class work for you" Hannah said "Just don't let Mabel see it"

After a while, everyone began to submit their notes. The time keeper had already rung the bell for break. Tom had been one of the first to submit. He was very happy about his score and didn't want anything to happen to his note. During the break Daniel asked him for it.

"Richard cleaned the board. Please can I use your note to copy my correction?" He asked.

"Okay but be fast" Tom said walking over to Rebecca's table where the notes were. He checked it the first time and didn't find his note. He then checked it repeatedly hoping that he had missed it the first few times but he didn't find it.

"Is this one of your stupid pranks again?" He asked Daniel

"No, I actually need it" Daniel said.

Not long after he had asked Daniel this question, Rebecca had returned from the snack shop with Hannah and Gabriella at her side.

"Have you seen my math note?" Tom asked her.

"It's on my table with the other notes" Rebecca said.

Tom didn't remember giving his note to anyone but he still asked all of his class mates if they were with it. Then as if things couldn't get any worse. They heard the bell signalling the end of break time.

"Should I wait for you?" Rebecca asked taking the notes . She knew Me Bolu wouldn't be happy if she were late but she was worried about Tom right now.

"Go ahead. I'll tell him what happened when I find it" Tom said.

Rebecca left with the math notes. When she got to Me Bolu's office as she had predicted, he was angry

"Why are you late?" He asked

"Sorry sir, I lost track of time" Rebecca said "Tom has been looking for his note"

"Are you sure he didn't leave it at home?"

"No, he was one of the first people to submit"

"Okay. When you get back to the class, tell him to see me"

"Yes sir" Rebecca said.

She made her way back to the classroom only to be met by the accusing looks of her class mates. Almost everyone was outside, and a few people were laughing.

"What's going on?" Rebecca asked Gabriella who was frowning at her.

"See for yourself" she said pointing at Daniel. Rebecca looked at Daniel and saw that he was holding a note covered in dirt and whatnot. He was standing beside the dustbin and shaking his head at Rebecca. The meaning of the situation sank in and Rebecca spoke.

"I didn't do this" Rebecca said.

"You just couldn't handle the fact that Tom got a better mark than you in a test" Mabel sneered "Typical Rebecca"

"I said it wasn't me" Rebecca said angrily.

"Tom already went to tell the math teacher what happened to his note" Sarah said with a smirk

"You put his note in there, didn't you?" Rebecca asked calmly.

"Prove it" Sarah said.

At that moment, Tom walked towards her. He looked at Sarah curiously for a while before turning to Rebecca.

"Mr Bolu wants you to meet him in his office now" He said.

Rebecca nodded and followed him to the staff room. A few students including Hannah, Gabriella and Daniel followed.

"Don't worry" Hannah said trying to reassure her "I'm sure Tom knows you didn't do that to his note"

"Yeah, I hope so" Rebecca said. But Tom didn't speak to her till they reached Mr Bolu's office. That was definitely a bad sign.
