Chapter 1
"You can't hit there on a nightwing only on skywings." Stormkeeper said as I slinged my tail at his left wing as hard as I could but my tail unded up smacking a bone and it hurt a lot . "Well where can I hit you with my tail?" I asked him as I gained my ability to move my tail and bared my venom filled fangs. Which Dad said I was lucky to have inherited from Mom. "My face." He replied and then he tried to punch me but I dodged it and grabbed his talons. We were soon in a standing like position lie scavengers. "That won't work with mudwings though." I said while I wrestled him for a dominate position. "Good." He said as he did a twist maneuver which by the end had me on the floor. "Because their faces have armor?" I asked as I tried t twist out of the position. "No because one of their sibs will come and attack you when your off balance and not cogniticent of your surroundings." He tried to put his hands on my wings."You got me." I said sarcastically, I had been waiting to use this move. I took my tail and stabbed it in his underbelly as hard as I could, resembling a sandwing, and ducked just as he was about to punch me with nightwing assassin strength which would have not been fun. "Now I got you." I said as I pushed him to the ground then put my talons on his wings. "You win." He said exasperatedly. I pulled him off he ground onto all four of his talons. "But only because you used your brain and not your instinks. "He said like every other time I had won against him. "Cause my instinks are so bad?" I asked. "No, all dragon instincts are bad. Some just have brains with instincts and they don't realize that it's just their brains." He replied as we grabbed some fruit off the trees. "Even nightwings?" I asked. "You've seen where they live, the average nightwing has neither." He said noncholantly. They didn't live in a pretty rainforest. They lived in what could also be known as hell. Black mountains towering over you lava flowing like rivers and the valleys. Smoke constanly an impending threat to your breath. And don't get me started on the eating arangements. I had only been their once and I had been camoflaged as Dad went for his yearly meeting of assassin missions. I had followed him without his knowledge at first but his was quick as usual and said just don't let anyone else see you. Little did he know someone had and well that was my first ever kill and I hated it. "So if the nightwings want to not live their why don't they go back to where the original island they lived on?" I asked as we headed back to the hut that we lived in with my mom, Prismflare. She was a beautiful rainwing, she always had bright and vibrant colors on her. But her personality did not match the colors she was a quiet and smart dragon who even before she met Dad was very good at defending herself, which I had inheirited from her. Dad on the other hand had very dark black scales with the occasional purple scale and underneath his strong wings was a sort of star pattern. One of the few things I had inherited from him. The rest of my body looked like a rainwing besides my underwing and the shape of my horns. I normally kept my scales a dark purple with a few gold flakes here and there. I had also inheirited some nightwing powers that apparently had not been seen for centuries according to my dad. I could see the future sometimes, not when I wanted to, just randomly, I'd get a vision of something happening on the main continent. Like one time I saw a cave with a small hole on the ceiling that had smoke coming out of it. Or a large arena with two icewings fighting eachother each having a fair share of the others blood on them. But rarely anything that mattered to me. Then there was mindreading, which I wouldn't call it that, rather Emotion reading. I could feel dragons emotions, based on how strong they were feeling it.But it was almost useless on this Island. I already knew what Mom and Dad were feeling just by their faces. But on the mainland it would be very usefull to tell if a dragon was lying and since nightwings hadn't had powers for years I could fool any nightwing I came within range of. Since the nightwings had been lying for centuries about their powers, with a little bit of self tought teaching, I could be able to keep up that lie if I decided to."We don't know where it is." He simply replied he seemed to be in a daze. "Are you ok?" I asked cautiously as my brown eyes darted around to see if their was any nightwings lurking around. The last time he had looked like this, we found out the next day that a nightwing had been on the island scouting for any other dragons. Dad had faked his death a long time ago so he had to knock the dragon out and put him back on the mainland so the nightwing would believe he had been dreaming. "Yes I'm fine." He replied unconvincingly.
