Koray's origin story

This is what NPG went through during the world crash and what happened to him...

-----

NPG had been stuck in the server as he wasn't a player and had no real username and as it started to break down and corrupt he was caught and was being pulled apart at the seams. He could even see the world's code.

He had fled to the rustic house, watching it slowly follow him but on the way saw Kala.

Kala was also caught and damaged but NPG stumbled across him and they started a fight as NPG did whatever he could to keep Kala here. If he was to die, Kala would too.

Kala almost escaped until NPG with the last of his strength, grabbed hold of him, dragged him into the corrupting land and finally killed him with his own two hands. He did his best to make his way into the house and collapsed there, watching it come closer. He begged for it to stop but it didn't.

He felt it falling apart around him. He made his way up the stairs and onto his bed filled with memories of his best friend who saved him from a different destruction a long time ago. The one who promised to help him and keep him safe from the massive intimidating Hub. The one who brought him to this server and fixed all his broken code.

"Exy... I'm sorry... I miss you." He had whispered. His optical sensors were the first to go. Others had started to shut down too. Touch, hearing...

He swore he had heard something but he wasn't sure. He tried to answer but he wasn't sure it worked. He felt something grab him. Next his senses slowly started coming back but he was scooped up and everything was spinning. He closed his eyes and begged for it to stop in his mind, unable to speak.

But a pressure on his neck stopped him. He couldn't remember exactly but... there was a function there, right? He saw code roll before his eyes and then-

Shutting down in:

3

He started to panic as it kept counting down.

2

He pleaded with the universe not to let him die.

1

Shutting down... Goodnight.

-----

He later told me what he remembered when he woke up again.

He remembered waking up and was greeted by a place he didn't know but memories filled his mind but the faces and names... His guess was they had been corrupted. He vaguely remembered a server crash?? But that was it.

He didn't even remember himself at the time and decided his name recognition was damaged and scanned for more damages but seemed to be alright.

So he had looked around. He saw a computer with code and heard a song that he couldn't quite place.

He heard a strange voice speak but he didn't recognize it. "Oops." But... he had just thought that?? He assumed that was his voice then. He saw photos on the walls, tools on a shelf, the room was mostly tidy.

He couldn't see the photos from where he was so he tested out movement then slid out of the bed. He told me it had felt wrong and strange at first.

He hesitated before he walked over to the photos and looked them over.

There was a lot of buildings and plants.

A group photo of some kind.

Two men laughing and eating cake together.

Another of a wooden house with a cobblestone roof on a snowy mountain.

A demon leading someone to a large base entrance guiding someone inside.

Almost all the photos had at least one of the same person. He had felt he should've known them.

A male, dressed in red and black armor, sometimes with a helmet under his arm revealing blinding white hair and with red eyes, one of which had an impressive scar over it. He didn't realize this was Exy.

And he didn't realize the other, a skinny male that didn't look quite like the other humans, with dark blonde hair and a baggy red sweater, similar to the one he was wearing now was him.

He had stood there for a while as he didn't have much else to do. He still couldn't name anyone in the pictures. He had heard someone enter but hadn't acknowledged them until he heard them gasp and drop something.

"NPG?"

He had froze, hesitating before turning to them. His database recognized him instantly. The male with white hair and red eyes, from the photos. He was wearing a beanie hat and no armor, just a pair of sweat pants and a hoodie with a red jacket over it now. But it had finally clicked.

"E-Exy?" He had called out, his own voice was soft and foreign to him but the other nodded, approached and stopped before hugging him tight. He had felt the emotions in the hug.

Exy expressed his worry over him and he explained his name database was damaged to him. Exy led him to the bed but he could tell something was wrong and asked.

Exy looked distressed before explaining that the server had been falling apart and he had been caught in it all. That it was tearing him apart from the code out. That Exy had found him by chance when he came to visit. How scared he had been that he lost him.

They quickly hugged again as he reassured him that he was okay now aside from a few missing memories. Exy still looked tense as he slowly explained that his original body had been nearly destroyed and he had brought him here just before anything important was corrupted, except for names.

That he had studied biomechanics intensely but even then, it wasn't perfect.

He remembered looking at his hands for the first time. They were pale and sprinkled lightly with freckles. They had felt strange to him. He was in a new body now. When Exy realized he was okay with that, his nervousness faded and showed him to a mirror.

He was now a vibrant redhead with wonderfully fluffy hair, pale skin with light freckles all over, and smooth, deep aquamarine eyes. He was a bit shorter than what he recalled faintly as familiar, slim, and elliptical. His old appearance was hazy, but this... this looked more like him than he had ever thought.

Exy told him that he tried to use the description he had once gave him on a late night when neither could sleep and looked anxious. He turned to Exy and thanked him with a genuine smile.

Exy informed him that he had been trying to rebrand himself so it was easier to get around without being recognized. Xenos.

He had replied something sarcastic but lighthearted making the other wheeze in surprise. He then asked if he could still call him Exy which was quickly agreed upon. Exy said that hadn't even been an option.

He then remembered his own name. He asked what NPG meant and Exy explained it was just what they called him since he didn't really have a name of his own. He suggested choosing one and they can both put everything behind them and start fresh.

He was confused why Exy assumed he wouldn't like his past but Exy asked him to trust him so he did. He had him pull up a memory of them talking about what they'd call themselves.

That he had decided on Koray. His reasoning was that it meant moon in another language and Grian had meant sun so... it was fitting.

They agreed to their new names and had begun searching for a new server home. They bounced between many of them. They wanted one where they wouldn't mind people who weren't exactly players or know who they were.

Three weeks and no luck. Each server Exy had "hacked" into, he had been kicked or met with opposition when someone realized who they used to be.

They had headed to another one and braced for what they would meet.

<Xenovoid joined the name>

<Koray joined the game>

Exy had taken him to get a proper username and to change his old one. He experienced a few changes now that he was considered a player. Welcome changes, but changes nonetheless.

They had spawned into a plains biome. They saw a birch hill in front of them, and small builds here and there. There was a building tucked beside a mountain overhang with a portal to the nether beside it.

He saw the chat messages through his internal processor but had felt the phone he had gotten vibrate in his pocket. He usually silenced it cause he didn't need it but since he had just arrived it was still on.

Multiple people greeted them and mentioned a discord server which made Exy groan but had them both join and mute it.

A moment or two later, both Becca and I joined the server and greeted them, not knowing they were old friends. Exy had been surprised but Koray didn't know who we were at first.

Exy was... angry to say the least. Koray had tried to calm him down as he raged. He asked why he was mad. He was answered by being told we had left him to die.

Koray quickly replied that wasn't the case and the server crashed but Exy would have none of it. We hadn't brought him out with us and therefore abandoned him.

Koray explained we hadn't been able to get back in and watched us try. The memories were blurry but he couldn't tell if he was right or wrong.

Becca had showed up and came over to them. Exy almost didn't recognize her at first. She greeted them but they both just stared. She was confused before Exy commented on her short hair but Koray started tearing up which was new to him, as her name finally resettled in the right slots of his memory.

He had hugged her tight and said how much he missed her but Becca didn't recognize them. Exy pulled Koray back to his side and then behind him. He told her she wouldn't know Koray but should know him and he'd kill her if she didn't.

Becca was angry for a moment before she realized. She was so excited to have him back telling him that Hollie hadn't been able to reach him then NPG had been worried and Xisuma said he wasn't coming back to his channel and people thought he might have permadied.

Koray smiled at the sight remembering seeing her optimism and enthusiasm often. But she had frowned a moment later. She explained that we were in a new server now and how the old one crashed and was unable to be saved and we couldn't find NPG and that she didn't know if he was gone for good.

Koray got Exy to agree to tell Becca who he was and she was surprised but thrilled. They explained they were Xenos and Koray now and that Koray's name memories were distorted so he didn't know what Grian was or who he was.

She was happy for them and they met up with me and we all caught up and visited and gave them a tour. It was so nice to finally have them home.

Exy stayed for a little bit but ended up being a rare visit. We were happy for him but we missed him a lot. Koray really missed him lots. Koray hung out at the rustic house I helped him build and spent most of his time there. He'd come out and chat with everyone from time to time but not as often as he would have before.

Then... Then came time for season 2 to end.

And with it, I was tasked with telling him his fate with the future of the server...
