Chapter 2 : Setback
Chapter 2 is here~ hehe I already have a bit of this story written down on paper in simplified form... Well anyway let the chapter start!
Kurai POV
I was suddenly shook from my thoughts as I felt a sharp pain lingering on my neck and something cold and wet slowly dripping down my neck. I slowly touched my hand to the source of my pain, when I looked at my fingers I saw that they were covered in blood.
I looked towards the snowy haired teen, he was wiping blood away from his mouth, bangs covering his face as he looked down.
Why would Hikari randomly bite me?
"Hikari... How many times have I told you not to bite me!? It hurts you know..."
I complained as I rubbed the puncture wounds on my neck caused by his fangs. I wasn't too mad at him, I would have been really angry with him if the legends about vampires were actually true. Thankfully they weren't, the only way to become a vampire is through cryptic rituals or being born one, Hikari was the latter.
"Sorry Kurai... I couldn't help it, you looked so vulnerable and I just love the taste of your blood"
Hikari mumbled, he was looking away from me, however I could slightly see the side of his face and it was a little pink.
Does he have a fever? Hmm if he did its probably not too serious, Hikari isn't the type to be overly considerate of others. Hikari is just Hikari.
Hikari climbed out of the window so he was crouching in the frame, I wished the window wasn't huge. The image of Hikari trying to fit through a small window flashed through my mind, I had to stifle a chuckle, not wanting his fowl mouth to go off.
"Kurai meet me outside, we've got to
start heading out before the sun rises"
Hikari called as he dropped out of the window and landed on the ground outside, I sighed. I knew Hikari didn't like the sun, it was too hot and bright. To be honest, I also preferred nighttime over daytime.
Kurai sure likes to show off, jumping from a three story building like that.. He's just lucky he's a vampire.
I slipped outside of the doorway of me and Hikari's room, like any normal person would. I ran down the creaky, ancient wooden stairs, reminding me how odd it was that our apartment was, being so run down and all.
When I finished going down the last flight of stairs, thankful that I hadn't fallen through any of them, I was greeted with an impatient looking Hikari, he was smirking with his deep crimson eyes gleaming.
"Kurai you're so slow, maybe you've got to work on your speed"
Hikari teased as he leaned against the apartments door frame with the moons light creeping in. I rolled my eyes then glared half heartedly towards the snowy haired vampire.
"Yes, yes I know, humans are so inconvenient compared to vampires Hikari."
I joked as I walked over to meet up with him, I didn't get Hikari's logic at all. Even if he hopped out the window, the same amount of time as walking out normally was taken because he waited for me.
"So Hikari... I kinda forgot where we were going today, would you mind if you reminded me a little?"
I knew that we had discussed this before we went to bed but I always tended to forget little details. Thankfully Hikari always kept details in check.
"Seriously Kurai?... How hopeless are you?"
Hikari sighed as we began to walk along a cobblestone path, it was strange that it even existed because there was barely anything around us.
"I'm sorry, I'm actually very hopeless"
I joked with a smile, I caught Hikari grinning slightly with his fangs glinting in the moonlight to my remark.
"We're heading towards the Cosmic lab, I've gained some nice info that it was supposedly working on how to conduct inter dimensional transport... If this lead is real, we may be able to return back to our own world"
I nodded in understanding, glad that the snowy haired vampire didn't use any confusing words, I disliked when he did. It made me realize just how much he was smarter than me.
The two of us had walked upon the moonlit cobblestone path for quite a while, the sky was beginning to brighten ever so slightly. I looked over towards Hikari, he didn't seem too pleased about this fact as we climbed a steep hill. Thankfully we were almost at our destination, however I guessed that the sun would be already up by the time we head back.
If we're lucky there will be no need to head back, I can get home... But, what then? I don't know anymore about myself than Hikari does... How will I find my way back to my home?
I felt unease trickle into me as we reached the top of the hill, I had no idea what was in store for me next after me and Hikari made it back.
I don't want to leave Hikari... He's the only person I know so far. I don't want him to leave me
I noticed that Hikari had stopped walking, I looked at him and was surprised to see confusion flickering within his deep crimson pools.
"Hikari, what's wrong?....."
I trailed off when I noticed the reason for the snowy haired vampire's confusion; the Cosmic Lab did not exist anymore, in it's place was a 200 foot crater.
What the?... It's was just here yesterday when me and Hikari looked around here... What happened? This is not normal.
Hikari POV
Maybe just a little snack.. It's not like it'll kill him or anything..
I creeped upon my coal haired friend, careful not to snap him out of whatever trance he had entered. I didn't need him coming back to reality, not just yet.
It's so much more easy when you're not paying attention Kurai.
I gently licked his exposed neck, his scent was almost overwhelming for me. After his soft neck was clean I slowly dug my fangs into Kurai's tender neck right into one of his minor veins.
I didn't want to drink from one of his main veins, he could easily bleed out and that was something that I didn't want to happen. Minor veins have the capability to bleed a decent amount, especially on the neck so I was content.
When Kurai's blood entered my mouth I felt a surging energy rush into my very being, I eagerly lapped up the blood quickly before moving away after only swallowing a few mouthfuls.
I wanted nothing more than to continue to drink Kurai's delectable blood, it had that kind of taste that was completely different yet mouthwatering at the same time.
Kurai... Your blood is even more amazing than I remembered... Why? It shouldn't be possible for you to be so... Delicious...
I looked away when I saw Kurai blink his sea green eyes a few times, signalling that he had exited his trance. I didn't know why but I felt extremely shy as I wiped his delectable blood off of my fangs.
Why would I feel shy? It's just Kurai, the hopeless airhead...
"Hikari... How many times have I told you not to bite me!? It hurts you know..."
I heard my coal haired friend complain, I was glad. From the tone of voice he used I knew that he wasn't too angry at me, I didn't mind when others were angry at me but for Kurai, it was different.
I can't afford to lose my only friend, I'm just lucky he's so easygoing.
"Sorry Kurai... I couldn't help it, you looked so vulnerable and I just love the taste of your blood"
I mumbled softly, I still couldn't look at him, so instead I climbed into the huge open windowsill that Kurai had been next to. I felt so awkward that I wanted to escape. I knew it was silly because Kurai didn't seem to notice at all.
That idiot would probably make a useless joke.
"Kurai meet me outside, we've got to start heading out before the sun rises"
I called to the sea green eyed boy as I hopped out the window and landed gracefully on the ground. The legends about vampires turning to dust were just silly misinterpretations made by idiots, the truth is actually more normal than that. Sunlight just bugs our eyes because our pupils dilate a little differently than a humans, end of story.
After I had landed I waited for Kurai to catch up, unfortunately if he had tried to copy me he would have most likely broken his legs, which had happened before. So I had to be patient and wait as he scrambled down the stairs of our rickety apartment.
Being a human must be so inconvenient... Well actually... Being a vampire has its inconvenient times as well.
I greeted the sight of Kurai with a smirk, I knew that he had tried his best to not make me wait.
"Kurai you're so slow, maybe you've got to work on your speed"
I teased as I leaned against the apartments doorframe, the moonlight illuminated his sea green eyes so it was as if they were glowing. I always though that was strange about him.
Kurai rolled his illuminated eyes then did his best to glare at me, however it was tarnished by the slight smile that threatened to crawl across his face.
"Yes, yes I know, humans are so inconvenient compared to vampires Hikari."
Kurai joked as he walked over to my side, it was great to have company. even though he could sometimes be an airhead.
"So Hikari... I kinda forgot where we were going today, would you mind if you reminded me a little?"
I couldn't believe that Kurai had forgotten already, we had discussed everything last night.
Maybe he's more of an airhead than I thought..
"Seriously Kurai?... How hopeless are you?"
I sighed as we began to walk along the cobblestone path, thankfully it lead to our destination however strange that may be.
"I'm sorry, I'm actually very hopeless"
Kurai replied with another one of his ditzy jokes, however I sort of liked them.. Sort of, usually they annoyed the crud out of me. This time I just couldn't help but grin slightly.
"We're heading towards the Cosmic lab, I've gained some nice info that it was supposedly working on how to conduct inter dimensional transport... If this lead is real, we may be able to return back to our own world"
I felt a little relieved when Kurai nodded to show that he understood my explanation, I had did what I could to dim down the language so that it was a Kurai friendly explanation.
After the two of us had walked along the cobblestone path for a while, Kurai looking at the sky most of the time while I occasionally glanced over towards him.
It's to make sure he doesn't get lost... His sense of direction could make a broken compass cry.
I grimaced when I noticed that the horizon had started to get slightly brighter than before as we climbed a hill that the cobblestone trailed over.
Annoying sun! Can't it just leave and never come back?
I knew however that would result in everything dying, I sometimes wished that the moon also radiated heat, however than I couldn't enjoy the coolness of the night anymore.
If everything goes well, both of us will be able to get back to our world, wherever it may be.
I felt slightly exited however I felt slight unease as I recalled Kurai wouldn't know who to turn to.
Would he be okay on his own?.. Surely someone will recognize him, but how long would that take?.... When we return I won't have any excuse to hang out with him anymore...
I don't like that idea...wonder why.
I suddenly realized that something was extremely wrong as soon as I reached the top of the hill. I stood there staring at the sight greatly confused.
"Hikari, what's wrong?....."
Kurai's words trailed off as his gaze followed my own towards the 200 foot crater that was now resting where the cosmic lab had been only just yesterday.
What the hell? It was right there no less than 12 hours ago! Me and Kurai saw it with our own eyes! So... What happened?
Me: that's the end of the second chapter~
Kurai: I'm so confused about all this weird dimension stuff...
Hikari: *sigh* everything is explained later on in the story
Kurai: wouldn't it be better to explain right away?
Me: no! It adds mystery hehe~ anyway hope ya enjoyed the chapter!
