Chapter 11: Kurai annoyed
Chapter 11 is here~ it's been a while because I was busy but now I can finally work on my fav story again!!! >~<^
Kurai POV
"Ah Yuki there's something I need to discuss with you later"
Hikari said quietly to our scarlet haired friend, I frowned however.
Why just Yuki? Why not me as well?
"Sure Hikari..."
I narrowed my eyes slightly for a few seconds, I didn't like not knowing things. Whenever I didn't know anything I always seemed to look like some kind of fool.
"Can I listen in?"
I really wanted to know what my two friends were going to talk about. Crimson eyes flickered towards me then Yuki before my snowy haired friend replied.
"No... You wouldn't understand what we're going to talk about Kurai."
Hikari sighed, Yuki gave me a quick sympathetic smile.
That's not fair......
"Anyway we should get to some kind of village or town before we can talk, I'm not to keen on leaving Kurai alone again after what happened last time."
Yuki sighed as she stretched her arms, my snowy haired friend nodded in agreement. I however, was a little annoyed as to why my two friends didn't want me to know what they're going to talk about.
"I'm not some Helpless kid...."
I pouted, I knew that I had gotten into trouble many times but it still didn't seem fair to be treated as a little kid.
I can take care of myself sometimes.... I don't want to always be looked down upon... I want to be able to help too..
Hikari smiled and ruffled my hair, crimson eyes gleamed mischievously.
"Aww Kurai but you are"
Hikari teased, I glared at him and my vampiric friend froze for a second then burst out laughing.
"Ah I know you're not trying to but your glare.... It looks so adorably childish!"
I blushed and looked away embarrassed.
I didn't mean to make myself look childish..... Wait why did Hikari add 'adorably'? No, I probably heard wrong.
"Okay Hikari let's stop picking on Kurai, even though its so easy and fun."
The scarlet haired girl smiled as she looked around.
Thanks Yuki... I think?
"Okay...."
I was relieved when my snowy haired friend agreed with Yuki, even if he used a disappointed tone.
One day... I'll be the one to protect you guys! Then you'll stop picking on me.
I really didn't like being picked on, however it really didn't annoy me as much as it really should have. I liked talking with Hikari, even if it was just him being mean.
Yuki took out a talisman and whispered into it, it then began to float and point in a random direction.
"What will that do?"
I asked, I was curious as to how paper could do such strange and amazing things every time the scarlet haired girl called upon them.
"This will lead us to the closest place where people are settled Kurai"
I nodded, I understood yet I couldn't help but think that Yuki's talismans were just way too convenient.
"Talismans sure are convenient..."
Hikari murmured, I smiled at how me and my snowy haired friend were thinking about the exact same thing.
The scarlet haired girl shook her head, I noticed that there were some traces of sadness and regret present within her icy eyes.
"No... They're actually not..."
Me and Hikari looked at the exorcist in confusion, I wondered what Yuki meant by how they weren't as handy as they seemed to be. They had actually helped us out many times so far.
The scarlet haired girl noticed our confused gazes and smiled sweetly before clapping her hands.
"Anyway.... Lets follow the talisman"
Yuki's cheerfulness seemed slightly forced, I could tell that she didn't want to talk about it so I allowed it to pass.
Why did you seem so sad Yuki?
The three of us began to run after the talisman, it was hard trying to keep up with my two friends as we ran. I felt as if something unknown was intentionally weighing me down. However I didn't allow my friends to notice this and I just pushed myself harder to keep up with them.
"Ah Hikari I'm getting a little tired can we slow down the pace?"
Yuki asked after we had been running through the forest for a while, with nothing to guide us exception a floating talisman.
My snowy haired friend looked back at us and nodded before slowing the pace, I smiled thankfully towards Yuki. She didn't seem tired at all.
Thanks Yuki... I didn't think I could go on any longer at that speed..
Hikari POV
I'm worried about what just happened with Kurai...
"Ah Yuki there's something I need to discuss with you later"
I said quietly to the scarlet haired girl, as much as I hated to admit it, Yuki was a reliably intelligent person.
I don't want Kurai to listen in, even though we'd be talking about him. I don't want to confuse him or make him upset.
"Sure Hikari..."
It seemed like the scarlet haired girl more or less knew what I wanted to talk to about, I was glad. It made things much more simple.
"Can I listen in?"
The coal haired boy asked, his sea green eyes sparked with annoyance and interest. I gazed at him then at Yuki before I replied to Kurai's question.
"No... You wouldn't understand what we're going to talk about Kurai."
I sighed, as Yuki gave the slightly saddened coal haired boy a sympathetic smile.
Sorry Kurai but its for your own good, we need to find out what happened to you... To stop it from happening again.
"Anyway we should get to some kind of village or town before we can talk, I'm not to keen on leaving Kurai alone again after what happened last time."
Yuki sighed as she stretched her arms, I nodded in agreement. I didn't want something or someone snatching up Kurai while we weren't looking. Again. It was bad enough with that Asura guy snatching him.
"I'm not some Helpless kid...."
Kurai whined as he pouted adorably, I knew it wasn't his fault but it was reality. Even though Kurai was probably around my age, he was most likely more helpless than a child.
You probably won't always be helpless Kurai but, I don't mind protecting you as we travel together until then.
I smiled and ruffled his coal black hair mischievously.
"Aww Kurai but you are"
It's fun to tease you Kurai.
I teased, earning me an adorable sea green glare from Kurai. I froze at how childish the intensity of his glare was before I burst out laughing.
"Ah I know you're not trying to but your glare.... It looks so adorably childish!"
Kurai blushed and looked away embarrassed.
Ah I didn't mean to say 'adorably'.... I hope Kurai doing make much out of it...
"Okay Hikari lets stop picking on Kurai, even though its so easy and fun."
The scarlet haired girl smiled as she looked around.
Fine.... Even though I love Kurai's reactions when I do so...
"Okay...."
Kurai was relieved when I agreed with Yuki, even though I had used an disappointed tone.
Picking on Kurai was more or less how I usually interact with him. I wasn't used to interacting with many people so teasing was the most easy way, especially with Kurai.
Yuki took out a talisman and whispered into it, it then began to float and point in a random direction.
"What will that do?"
Kurai asked, I was also curious as to what the talisman would do this time around.
"This will lead us to the closest place where people are settled Kurai"
Kurai nodded, having Yuki around as a stalker really seemed convinient.
"Talismans sure are convenient..."
I murmured, I wondered if maybe Kurai could learn how to use them one day so he had a way to protect himself.
But that would make him an exorcist... Then I'd be that odd vampire who keeps only exorcist a for company... Well I guess having a human and exorcist is weird enough anyway for a vampire like myself.
The scarlet haired girl shook her head, I faintly noticed that there were some traces of sadness and regret present within her icy eyes.
"No... They're actually not..."
Me and Kurai looked at the exorcist in confusion, she seemed to look so lonely for some reason.
The scarlet haired girl noticed our confused gazes and smiled sweetly before clapping her hands.
"Anyway.... Lets follow the talisman"
Yuki's cheerfulness seemed slightly forced, I guessed that the scarlet haired girl didn't want to talk about it.
I guess everyone has things they don't want to share....
The three of us began to run after the talisman, it felt nice to feel the fresh air pass by as we ran through the lush forest. It ached a little however because I had recently had injuries healed but it was nothing more than a very faint annoyance.
"Ah Hikari I'm getting a little tired can we slow down the pace?"
Yuki asked after we had been running through the forest for a while, with nothing to guide us exception a floating talisman.
I looked back at the two, Yuki seemed to be running fine but Kurai seemed to be having some difficulty keeping up with us. I nodded, understanding what Yuki meant and slowed down the pace for Kurai.
You should have spoken up Kurai.... You shouldn't push yourself too hard, you've already been through a lot as it is...
