The Deserts of Obsidian - Photograph collections

These photographs have been taken from Egypt (White and Black deserts), Jordan (Wadi Run), and the Gobe deserts. Obsidian is largely inspired by my obsession with deserts. I've also been privileged enough to spend a lot of time with bedouins, hiking and climbing dunes, sleeping in goat hair tents and under the stars, riding camels and horses and experience a lot of nomadic life in Mongolia where I spent 3 weeks with the nomadic people. I can only hope I write worth my imagination.

The White Desert (Egypt). Well, it's really white. My first reaction was, "this exists, really?" And what do you know, the black desert is right next to it. So naturally, my world was inspired by these places. At first I felt that it might be too cliche to name them Black and White deserts but then Obsidian is about breaking rules and cliches, about blending black and white together to make gray, and I say, why not start them off as something so black and white and then make them realize there is no such thing as a color that defines good or evil. The heart of Obsidian is its deserts and this may help you visualize them:
