three - new people
Within a few minutes, both people turned around and looked at Olenna. Olenna swallowed and panicked! What was she supposed to do now? She didn't know the two people and she didn't really want to find out what kind of character they had!
Because she was sure that not everyone in the palace was as nice as Rhaenyra! Rhaenyra radiated calm, peace, serenity and cheerfulness, which Olenna found very beautiful and encouraging!
And she was shocked to realise that only the girl who was looking at her with an indistinct gaze radiated exactly the same things as Rhaenyra did! Olenna wondered if the girl was the same one Ser Criston had spoken of. What was her name again? Alicent?
She didn't know and she didn't have much time to think about it because the man standing in the room with the girl suddenly started talking!
"Do you like eavesdropping on other people? Is that how it's done where you come from?" Olenna realised how this one indescribable feeling spread through her upper body and she would have loved to start crying!
"I...I...I'm sorry! I...didn't mean -" she couldn't finish because the man interrupted her and gave her an angry look!
"Of course you wanted to eavesdrop on us, girl! You were just waiting for something exciting to happen that you could tell someone about!" the man grew steadily angrier and the girl, who was now standing closer to the door, gave him a pleading look! She didn't want him to shout at Olenna, let alone embarrass her!
"Father, please leave her alone! She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, it can happen to anyone! I'm sure she didn't want to eavesdrop on us!" the beautiful girl with the gorgeous long, curly hair defended Olenna! So there was another nice person in this palace after all!
"Alicent, stop this nonsense! She's here on purpose! She was probably even sent by Daemon to eavesdrop on us!" Olenna tilted her head. Who was this Daemon and why was Alicent's father so sure that he had sent Olenna to eavesdrop on his conversation with Alicent?
"Now explain to me why Daemon should be interested in our conversation, father! He hasn't been to Kingslanding for a long time and as long as King Viserys doesn't ask him to come back personally, he won't!" now Alicent was angry too and Olenna didn't know how to feel! Should she just disappear unnoticed and hope that Alicent's father didn't run after her or should she stay where she was and watch the rest of the conversation?
Suddenly, Alicent's father stormed past Olenna and out of the room and towards the palace exit! Alicent sighed and looked at Olenna. She had the same colour eyes and her hair looked similar to her own, except that Olenna's hair wasn't curly. It took Alicent a moment to walk up to Olenna and smile at her! Alicent's smile had a hint of sadness and regret and Olenna wasn't sure if she should smile back.
After a brief moment Olenna decided to smile back and wait for Alicent to say something, but she only lowered her head and tears ran down her cheeks again! Overwhelmed by the situation, Olenna took a few steps back and took a deep breath! She had never known how to behave when another person was crying! It has to be said that no one had ever cried in Olenna's presence either...just her and that was enough!
Not her father, not her mother when she was still alive...not even her friends, of whom she didn't really have many! She was a very withdrawn person and many people found this repulsive and treated Olenna accordingly.
She was laughed at, mime performances were made about her, food was thrown at her and what saddened her the most was that there were people in her old home who made fun of her mother's death and showed it on the public street!
People can be heartless and mean and Olenna vowed that if she ever had children, she wanted them to learn how to treat people for right! She would teach them to treat other people with respect, consideration, kindness and honesty!
Because that's exactly how she wanted to be treated, but it hadn't really worked out in her 15 years of life so far...
