four - flashbacks
At some point, Alicent looked up again. Her eyes were fiery red and her expression had also changed. Olenna didn't understand, but she didn't want to ask! She only knew that Alicent wasn't well, but that she didn't know her well enough to help her.
At some point, Olenna decided to continue on her way. She said goodbye to Alicent and walked towards her chambers. The long corridors and the many doors made the palace seem bigger than it already was! Olenna wondered how Rhaenyra managed to find her way around this huge palace.
Then she remembered that Rhaenyra had lived in this palace all her life and that it was child's play for her to find her way around! When Olenna arrived at her chambers, she breathed in and out again before going in. As soon as she opened the door, she discovered the first thing she didn't like!
Her bed was too close to the door. She didn't like it when her bed was too close to the door as she had many nightmares where this was a disadvantage! Should she try to move the bed? Actually, she felt like it, but it would be a bit difficult on her own!
But who could she ask to help her? Rhaenyra? Alicent? She didn't know and for the moment she had to live with the fact that her bed was not where it should be!
Tired from the journey and the arrival, Olenna flopped down on her bed and realised that it was quite comfortable! Her bed at home wasn't that comfortable and she didn't miss it at all! The only thing she missed were the people she saw every day. The elderly ladies who were happy when Olenna gave them fresh flowers. The older men who smiled at Olenna every time she walked past them and most of all she missed her friends.
Together with her father, her friends were the only constant in her life. They helped her through all the hard times, as well as the good ones, of which there really weren't many! They saw Olenna laugh, cry and lose her mind, but they never thought of leaving her because of it!
They didn't judge Olenna. They didn't judge her just because she was quieter than some. They didn't judge her just because she preferred reading to wandering through the woods and they didn't judge her just because she preferred being at home to being on the streets of the village!
Sometimes she wondered if her friends were even capable of judging others. They never gave the impression of being able to, as they all had hearts that were too pure and good-natured! Olenna liked to call her friends 'lifesavers' or 'true angels', because that's what they were in every possible way!
Olenna would be nothing without her friends. Without her friends, Olenna would not be happy. Olenna wouldn't laugh, wouldn't smile, wouldn't even think about doing either of those things!
She would simply exist. Exist and ask herself what her purpose in this world was. Was it to look pretty and say nothing? Or was it to look pretty but be allowed to express her opinion freely? Olenna would probably never find out the answer to this question.
And if she was honest, she didn't really care about this question, as she now had the opportunity to change something in her life and make new friends!
Friends she didn't know existed and friends she could rely on in difficult times! Friends who were just as good-natured and pure as her old friends! Yes, Olenna firmly believed that she would find this in Rhaenyra and Alicent, and she would do anything to win their friendship!
But how was she supposed to do that? Rhaenyra probably had a lot on her mind, as she was obviously the princess, and Alicent seemed to have a lot on her mind because of her stressful father. She felt sorry for Alicent.
She would find a way, she was sure of it! But now she had to sleep, because she had a feeling that the next day would be even more stressful...
