Chapter 7: His Fun

Dark floated around the town. He didn't want it to be a ghost town because that would be boring, so he went into the heart of the city, where no one knew him. He grinned. He would very much enjoy this.

The reflection entered the city and looked around. It was dark out, and the stars were shining. No moon, though. Dark liked it. Without the moon, he was the brightest object out, which made him the center of attention. Already, the humans were pressing against the windows, trying to get a look at the black and white body. Some even managed to come out, those who were brave enough. They treated him like something special, whoch he liked very much. Light Side never did that.

"What is that?" someone wondered out loud.

"What does it want?"

"Is it real? Or am I dreaming?"

"If it's a dream, how are we all dreaming it?"

None of these questions/statements bothered him. He just hovered in place, examining the faces of his victims. So innocent. He liked that. More innocent blood to spill. It made him smile a wide smile.

"It's smiling..."

"Does that mean that it's not a threat anymore?"

Oh, no, little humans. Sweet, innocent humans. You're in more danger than you realize.

He suddenly went into action. He grabbed the human closest to him by the neck and punched him in the nose, shattering the cartilage. The man let out a haunting shriek as the blood poured down his nostrils. Dark snickered at the melodious sound and thrust his index and middle fingers straight into his pupils simultaneously, earning a satisfying, gurgling scream.

This all happened in about thirty or less seconds, but people were already scurrying about, looking for places to hide and weapons to fight with. Men and women in blue uniforms circled around him, pointing some kind of hand-held device at him. The dangerous-looking side was pointing right at the reflection.

Silly humans. Your little weapons won't hurt me.

Even as he had that thought, one of them started shouting through a megaphone. "Drop the man and surrender! We have you surrounded!"

With a smirk, Dark slashed at the man he was holding, who was now moaning and groaning with pain. His sharpened hand found home in the man's throat, and bright red life gushed out immediately.

"Open fire!!!" the man with the megaphone shouted.

All of the humans in the uniforms opened fire. In a split second, the reflection dropped the now-dead man and zipped to a uniformed human. He quickly stabbed the same hand into her chest and pulled out her heart. He then slashed another's throat, bashed a skull, shattered a jaw, caved in a temple, and snapped a spinal cord. They crumpled to the floor, either dead or injured beyond repair, moaning in pain. The woman whose heart he literally stole took a few seconds to register that a vital organ was out before she collapsed, which made Dark giggle hysterically.

He looked around the area to see the doors shutting and locking, the faces of children peeking through only to be pulled away by their parents.

This is gonna be fun! Dark chuckled darkly and flew to the nearest house.

The lock immediately clicked, indicating that the family didn't want him in there. This didn't faze him ont bit. It was easy to pick a lock so simple. All he had to do was obtain two needles and pick around. Dark searched along the ground and found two long sticks, which he used in the place of needles. They were thin, so there was no worry.

He picked at it until it unlocked with a satisfying click. The reflection grinned and turned the knob. With a groan and a creak, the door slowly opened. Dark grinned when he heard feet scampering and hushed voices.

Dark sang a creepy song in the tune of "The Isty Bitsy Spider." It was in a strange language, nothing the humans had ever heard of. As he sang softly and creepily, he slunk through the house, looking for the humans inside.

"Get the gun, get the gun!"

"Where are the bullets!?"

"Right here, Dad!"

"Are we gonna be okay?"

"Of course! Your father will kill it."

Asif. Dark grinned, but he didn't stop singing. When he was done with the song, he would start over from the top. He knew they heard it, and it creeped them out.

The father appeared in a hallway door. He had the same weapon as the people in blue had, but he was trembling, so the weapon wasn't reallt steady. An easy kill. Too easy.

First, I'll torture him, nice and slow. Then, I'll kill him and his family. A slow and horrible death!

The reflection crept closer and closer, and it was all he could do to keep his laughter under control. He put his fingers together and molded them into one, sharp, deadly tip. He didn't stop creeping until he managed to get behind the father, and not even then did he stop. Not until his hand/knife was inches from the back of his head.

Quick as a hunting serpent, Dark clapped his unsharpened hand over the father's mouth. Surprised, the man released his gun, which clattered loudly to the floor. Surely, the rest of the family heard that. Oh, well. Let them come. He just hoped that they wouldn't come before the screams began!

"How shall we start?" Dark hissed into his ear, really creepy and the like.

Without waiting for a respose, for he so ached to hear the screams of his victims, he sank his hand/knife deep into the man's abdominal area. Muffled cries encouraged Dark to remove his hand from his mouth so that he could hear the music that he so desired.

"It's okay to scream," the reflection assured the man with a chuckle.

~.~.~

The early sunlight reflected on the blood, making the beautiful red life seem to glow. Dark looked at his handywork in satisfaction. He killed many, but this was a giant city! He would have to find more and go deeper, but for now, this was fine. He had to head back to Light Side, though. He couldn't survive for more than a night away from him, which was something he was going to work on as soon as he dominated Light Side.

He floated over to a pool of blood and dipped his finger in. On a nearby building, he wrote:

"Find the town at the edge of this city, southwest from here. Find the house at the edge of that town."

There. That would give Light Side some company.

The reflection didn't bother wiping his finger off to clean it from the blood. How could he? He was covered from head to toe (if he had toes) in blood, blood, and more blood, but it was nothing that a little trip into the mirror couldn't fix.

So, he made the trip back to his little home in the wardrobe mirror. He was suddenly glad that Light Side couldn't bind him to the mirror or knew anything about the mirror and its secrets. That would spell trouble for Dark. He grinned and made a promise to himself to bind Light Side to that mirror once he alone gained control of the both of them.

Dark chuckled at the thought. Watch yourself, Light Side. I'll soon get to you, whether you like it or not!
