Third Person’s P.O.V.
Hoseok watched Taehyung struggle to get the control back from his wolf, the trueblood fighting the human’s intentions to yield being zealous in its need to get his mate to safety. He had seen Taehyung’s wolf surface before, and as threatening an experience as it was watching him struggle with himself was a much troubling sight. He wanted to help but didn’t know how to, however he could tell Taehyung wasn’t very accepting of his intentions to help anyway.
“What are you doing?” The voice sounded annoyed as usual as Taehyung asked not even looking back at Hoseok who chose to follow behind him knowing where he was going as he saw him heading towards his stallion.
“Nothing”
“Get back to the battlefield-” “There is no battle to fight though…what do I do there?”
Taehyung quietened at that, choosing to concentrate on the much more important issues that had his mind in knots rather than wasting his time bickering with the General.
“You know, we will have greater chances to win if we attack toge-” “I don’t need you help!!” Taehyung snapped at him, abruptly turning around to glare at the other.
Hoseok stumbled to a stop, the trueblood’s rage evident in Taehyung’s voice.
“I am not helping you…I promised Seokjin that if ever he needs help, I’ll stand by him…I intend to keep my promise…why do you always feel like everything is about you?!” Hoseok was flailing his hands against him now.
Taehyung’s gaze was mean and calculative on the other, his scowl remaining just as unaffected before he was turning around to grasp at his stallion’s reins and mounted it.
“If you get in trouble…I am leaving you behind” Taehyung spoke before spurring his stallion to start off in the direction of the enemy palace, not waiting for the other.
Hoseok smirked, realizing that Taehyung had just agreed that he could accompany him “you know you don’t mean it.”
And he was glad that he had decided to join him in this when he watched Taehyung growing visibly desperate to reach to the royal palace of Zyon, his aggressive wolf threatening to resurface as he saw him cursing under his breath while his merciless hands took down anyone who dared to bar the way.
Hoseok could sense the trueblood’s growing wrath and it showed in Taehyung’s thirst for blood, he didn’t care how many limbs he had severed…how many throats he slit…how many men fell to their deaths by his hands as they approached the destination. His own body marred with the blood from his wounds as well as blood from others he had wounded, the gashes deep and coated with fresh blood and yet he looked too unconcerned to think about those as his head remained occupied with only one thought.
Hoseok wouldn’t blame him though, his pregnant mate was captured by the enemy and in a situation like this any alpha would be terrified no matter how powerful. He knew Taehyung wouldn’t let anyone know what it was doing to him but he could see the panic in his stern gaze and the way his breathing became rushed with worry.
However, he could tell something had gone really wrong when he saw Taehyung give out a broken howl…his body almost dropping off of the stallion as Hoseok tried to help him and saw his eyes go wide with fright as he feared about what might be happening. He watched the trueblood growl to himself but the sound was more pained than threatening as he saw the other’s eyes flutter close momentarily, face scrunching and going red as he growled again trying to shake off the hurt that had his body seizing and shuddering beyond his control, veins puffing up at his temple and his neck.
“Wh-What is happening?” Hoseok looked distraught as he tried to understand what was going on.
“They-They’re hurting him…” Taehyung could feel his trueblood howling in anguish, it was as if something was charring his skin and cleaving his flesh from the bones. The wolf in him mad with fear for his mate’s well-being, growling at him for trying to rein it in and not being allowed to take out it’s aggression on those who dared to hurt the omega.
Hoseok had never heard Taehyung’s voice sound this brittle and breathless, the words as if hurt him to speak.
“Don’t worry…we’ll get there soon” Hoseok tried to assure him as he guided their horses, letting Taehyung catch his breath “he can heal himself…he’ll be fine.”
“He can heal…but he feels pain just like everyone else” Taehyung struggled to compose himself although he could still feel the pain piercing through him as he gripped the reins more tightly as the stallion began moving again “pain doesn’t become non-existent just because someone deals better with it.”
He could sense that Jin was in danger, he could sense the omega’s fear twisting in his own gut…and yet it was when the mark on his wrist began scorching that worry made cold sweat break out on his skin. He feared the thought of Arcana taking over Jin, he had no idea what it could do…worse he had no idea if his trueblood would be able to overpower him this time, or for how long…
However, his attention was drawn to something else as they rode through the borders of Zyon, only to realize that it was a trap Do-Hwan had set up for him.
Thousands of soldiers were positioned along the borders to lay the next attack on Kleon, they looked like colonies of ants very ready to defend their territory.
“Fuck! They’re going to attack again!”
Hoseok cursed under his breath, eyes wide as he began realizing how terribly disadvantaged they were “we have to go back…the troops-they’ll be massacred without us!”
Taehyung watched the scene transfixed, his mind blurred with a million thoughts as he tried to pick one to focus on.
“We have to let the troops know…we don’t have time to wait!”
Hoseok’s voice blared beside him but a tug of war raged within him as his eyes moved between the horde of enemy soldiers approaching his land and the palace where Do-Hwan kept his mate prisoner.
His omega was in danger...so was his child…so was his land…
“You go back…let the troops know…and lead them Hoseok” his voice was a flat command, starkly contrasting the storm that raged within him at the moment “I have to go…my mate needs me.”
Before Hoseok could protest about him going alone…and how much risk it would be to do that knowing that this most definitely was a trap designed to ensure the trueblood won’t survive, Taehyung sped ahead with a growl, spurring his stallion to double speed as his wolf sensed the agony his mate was currently suffering.
-
A bolt of shock went through Jimin like lightning and he couldn’t comprehend what Do-Hwan had just done but the shrill scream that pierced the air was a proof that it wasn’t something he had imagined.
It is the most painful kind of torture for a marked omega to be bitten by another alpha. Unlike the healing capabilities of his alpha’s saliva, the other’s saliva worked like venom for the omega. His body rejected the bite, making the omega thrash as the venom moved in painful swishes across his veins while his senses slowly failed him.
Fear held him immobile as he saw Do-Hwan round the other with eyes flickering red and sensed the anger emanating from the alpha as he fumed.
“Stay down omega…I could have just beheaded you but that would take all the fun away” a tone was snide, mocking at a writhing and groaning Jin on the floor.
Jimin could read how the news of the trueblood laying a bloodbath at the battlefield had shaken up the King, he was beginning to realize that no power would be enough to make the trueblood cower before him…except one…and being the vile alpha Do-Hwan was he would definitely use everything for his own advantage, playing fair wasn’t in his cards anyway.
“He thinks he can scare me?!” Do-Hwan’s voice thundered through the hallway “no matter though” he glared at a gasping and wailing Jin, his body suffering through acute spasms and painful seizures as the bite had him paralyzed “I have ways to scare him too”.
“Hngh…a-alpha…I-nggh!” Jin’s body trembled against the cold marble, his vision veiled with a fast-spreading haze as his entire being sought for help and called for his alpha, the omega in him terrified and in pain. However, to his greater terror he could sense his omega’s pain affecting the pup in him, his stomach turning as he felt bile rising up his throat.
“Yes…call for your alpha…” Do-Hwan’s voice was dripping with malice as he leaned to sneer at the shaking omega “let him know that you are in pain…let him know that if I want to then I can do whatever I please with his helpless little mate…”
A sound of clothes rustling by his side caught his attention and the alpha found Jimin trying to break off from the command as he struggled to get closer to Jin, to help him and ease his pain if he could because Jimin could hear the loud fear in Jin’s mind. A trembling voice that kept keening for the trueblood for help because he could feel the venom searing through his insides, his lower belly twisting as it burned through n through.
Jimin was shocked to see blood beginning to stain Jin’s trousers while he cried and writhed, hand cupping his little bump while his eyes remained wide and unfocused in absolute terror.
“Seokjin, let your powers free…we need your wild side now…” Jimin whimpered giving his arm and in turn confusing Jin more “we don’t have time…just do it…”
Jin took the advice and almost instantly felt energy pulsate within him as he drew from the other and saw Jimin bite down as he tried to keep steady and Jin stopped fearful of hurting the other.
“No-no…take more…you’ll need it” Jimin spoke through gritted teeth and Seokjin wrapped his palm around the thin wrist again. This time he didn’t let go till Jimin dropped beside him as well and dizzily told him to run, use the energy he had taken.
However, Jimin’s intentions went futile because although it made Jin look a little less disoriented but the energy did nothing to cure the poison that ran through Jin.
“Seokji-arghh…!” Jimin cried out, his eyes closing as he struggled against the grip that held a fistful of his hair and pulled him to his feet.
“Take that omega outside…and tie him where every eye of Zyon can see” the King ordered with arrogance blazing in his voice “I want my people to watch me slay the trueblood and his mate…as I claim my victory over the enemy!”
“S-Sire…he’s-” “Not a word omega!” He growled another command on Jimin, shutting him up effectively before dragging him away to his chamber.
“I am going to deal with you later” Do-Hwan spoke through gritted teeth, glowering at the omega as he pushed him on the bed “I wanted to be good to you tonight…but I see you are eager for punishment.”
Jimin lifted his head to look at the alpha, his eyes angry as he glared at the other in silence making the alpha halt in his steps and scowl back at him.
“If you think you can fight me Jimin…I will make sure to teach you that you can’t…so don’t take stupid decisions…you know me, I’ll make you watch the death of your parents too if you dare to challenge me omega.”
Jimin kept his eyes against the alpha, his pale blue gaze stern yet he stayed silent being unable to break away from the alpha’s command when there were guards gathering at the open doors at the King’s chamber as they drew the alpha’s attention.
“Sire…the battalions are positioned, Kleon is suffering under our attack” their words were bubbling with pride as they relayed the information, however, the pride dampened as they spoke next “but the betas on patrol…” they sounded anxious this time as they reported to the King “they…none of them…there’s-” “Just spit it out will you!!” Do-Hwan roared at them, his eyes flaring red as fear fed his anger.
“The troops in the Northern mountains and the one’s on patrol…none of them made it back to the camps Sire…they’re all…lost.”
Jimin wanted to laugh…years, he had waited years to see that look of terror on the alpha’s face…he wanted to scream and tell him that today was the day he’d watch him die…today he’d have his revenge, even though a part of him knew that he too would probably die by the trueblood’s hand for putting his mate in danger.
He scoffed to himself, picking himself up on his hands as he read the fear coursing in Do-Hwan’s mind, the alpha in him beginning to realize that no matter how large his army was, and even though the soldiers’ could win this war for him…he won’t live to see any of it, he had prepared for his end with his own hands.
“You don’t know what an alpha can do to ensure his mate’s safety” Jimin’s voice was calm but the words rang clear through the room, and he remembered the look Luhan had given him when he had broken off their bond to ensure his mate would survive even though he’d be dead “you will never know what it really means to love another.”
No sooner he said those words, an enraged growl shook the walls letting the King know how close his death waited, the heavy roar erupting far away from where they stood but the threat in it was very evident.
And Jimin watched him hasten out of the chamber with rushed breaths, a smirk gracing his lips as he remained unaffected when he heard the order he gave to the guards to keep him locked in the chamber.
“I guess he forgot that I’m not on blockers anymore…alpha’s truly act before they think.”
-
Yoongi could see people who had been hiding in their homes coming out, sensing that the war had stopped. The sound of war had paused and they hummed and prattled among themselves how their troops must have won against the enemy. Their voices cheery as they called upon their friends and family, heads peering out of the protection of their homes to stare towards the distance as they began flocking together and shared their sighs of relief.
Yoongi wanted to assure himself too, his horse still heading in swift intention towards the North Gate castle, he had learnt from spiking rumours that the omega prince had ushered many a helpless soul and currently hundreds of beta women and omegas were taking shelter there. The knowledge hurt him more to think that despite Seokjin’s noble intention, none tried to keep him safe from being abducted by the enemy.
However, he met with a completely different picture once he stepped into North Gate castle.
“Master Min” Yushik hurried to him while Yoongi was busy noting how his brother’s home currently looked like a base camp of armed women.
“Where’s Aunt Hayoon?” Yoongi was quickly ushered inside to see the lady busy in tending to the soldiers and the guards whom the enemy had wounded while trying to abduct Seokjin.
“Oh Yoongi! They took Seokjin! They killed so many!” Hayoon huffed, running about and tending to the wounded.
“Any prisoners?” Yoongi’s voice was low, his mind not adjusting to the thought of preparing healing balms or bandaging cuts at the moment and he decided to cut to the point.
Ha-yoon looked up at the other, the weight in Yoongi’s tone assured her that things were ugly…or they were probably going to get uglier.
“T-Taehyung…? Oh god...now they have Seokjin...what do we do?!” Her voice trembled as she gazed at him with terrified eyes realizing something must be amiss. But Yoongi couldn’t tell her the danger both Taehyung and Seokjin had been pushed into, he couldn’t find the heart to tell her that everything would be fine…because it might not be and he wasn’t someone who liked giving someone false hopes.
“Where’s the prisoner?” Yoongi asked again, trying to deviate from the discomfort and fear coursing within him as well.
“In the eastern chamber” Yushik replied behind him “he wouldn’t talk though, I tried.”
Yoongi turned about, feet striking hard against the marble floor as he wasted no time to make his way towards where the prisoner was being kept.
The encounter however was not how Yoongi had expected it would be.
“I ain’t talkin’ for shit! Even if you kill me…Zyon will pummel yer asses to the ground…no use threatenin’ me” the prisoner tittered, spitting out the blood at Yoongi’s jacket.
The punches Yoongi had landed on his jaw hadn’t been able to scare the man enough but the words were self-explanatory…he practically didn’t have to ask anything more. So, he planned to talk the man into it in a roundabout way.
“The war is already over…I asked why abduct the omega?”
“I don’t know…probably have a good time, he’s a real pretty one” he scoffed with a large grin that showed off some of those bloodstained teeth as he chewed on the inside of his cheek “what else do ya use omegas for?”
Yoongi didn’t plan to but his fist hit the man’s face on instinct, teeth gritting as a growl rumbled in his chest before he had to shake off the anger overtaking his wolf and try again.
“You got real soft hands for an alpha though” the man grinned at him again “no wonder you’re here when you should be at the front like a real alpha.”
“I don’t need to be there…my brother is enough for all of you” he smiled down tersely “did you not hear me saying that the war is over? He made all your incompetent pals surrender-” “Well, I wouldn’t get this giddy if I were you…what will’ya do if yer finest soldier is taken out? Those soft hands of yer's won’t kill real men now would they?”
The man sniggered eyeing him up and down.
“And where are those real men?” Yoongi smirked back “hiding in their ditches?”
“Heh” he sniggered, breaking into a hysterical laugh that was more mad than arrogant “no petal” he shook his head, ripples of his wild laughter still shaking his chained body “they’re outside yer’ borders…waiting for orders to strike.”
That’s all Yoongi needed to know actually…he had a gut feeling that Zyon had planned something more…that the war wasn’t over yet…Kleon was yet to win this war.
“Yushik” he said turning around, heading out “finish him.”
Minutes later Yoongi was on his horse, speeding towards the borders to join their troops. He had never been one to join in wars but it was different this time because he knew this time everything was at stake.
-
“The Eastern borders have been breached-” “There are enemy soldiers at the Western front as well!”
“They have us surrounded!! We don’t have enough men to counter-attack!”
The reports kept flying in as Jungkook felt his heartbeat rise with each one, his insides struck with concern yet his face held the same cold unperturbed look.
“The Commander left the battlefield, the General is probably somewhere beyond the borders…we have no idea if they’re even alive! We must have the troops-” “Prepare my ride” everything fell silent at those words, the entire court, the messengers, the lords and the guards gawking at their young King “and bring me my armour.”
“My lord that is not a safe-” the words had Jungkook turning around like a striking whip, his eyes flashing red at the other “I do not fear standing before my enemy! Now do what I say! And prepare my stallion!”
The loud exclamation was enough to make all of them bow before their lord and the guards scurry to make the preparations as per the orders, not daring to go against the King’s decision.
Kleon was under heavy attack this time, the troops hadn’t received any proper orders, they weren’t sure whether to leap at the approaching enemy or hold guard. This shouldn’t have happened, they had won…they weren’t really expecting an army of even larger number of soldiers attacking them every side. They were surrounded, the troops were getting butchered mercilessly by Zyon’s men.
The carnage was growing larger by the minute as the enemy breached through the borders, towns burned down, families fleeing as helpless cries erupted to meet the rancid air that hovered over the tortured land.
His kingdom was suffering…and Jungkook felt like his worst nightmare was coming true alongside his best dream…the monster he had forever wished to slay would be dead this day…but it seemed like that intention was clashing directly with his wish to be the mightiest ruler Kleon had ever seen. If he didn’t find ways to stop Zyon from going back on their word then he’d probably lose his reign and that was something he definitely would never allow to happen…Kleon was his birth right…Kleon was his to rule over…and he wouldn’t even let the gods change it.
-
Jin was panicking now, his pain and weakness making his mind zap through ways to protect himself and the pup.
“Wh-Where are you taking me?” He fumbled in his pain, his legs had no strength to resist and fear grew deeper as he felt more blood smearing his pants. His body was failing and a part of him just wanted to curl up and wail, the venom from the bite was making his mind go blurry and the only thought that he could focus on was the fear of losing his child that sat heavily on his chest. The omega in him seeking for his alpha, needing protection and care and that strong scent that could make him feel secure.
“Shut up and keep walking” they half dragged and half pushed him ahead.
Jin whimpered at how every movement hurt him, his body was going colder by the minute yet everything inside him felt like it was burning and melting into nothing. It was becoming too much for him…his body was burning…his mind numb…his insides cramping as hollow retching made his seizures heighten and chest so tight that no matter how hard he tried to gulp air, his lungs felt choked.
Jimin’s words kept echoing somewhere deep inside…in all honesty, his brain hadn’t really registered rightly whatever the other had said. He had a lot of questions but they didn’t get the time to talk, Jin wasn’t sure what Jimin had tried to say referring to that old folklore of Eulan…he was sure he had said something about spirit of a god…and how he had killed people before…killed his own mother.
If Jimin wasn’t tricking him then he didn’t know how he’d ever forgive himself…if Jimin was really right about all those things then people were right to call him a curse and his father was only being sensible in keeping him caged somewhere far away from them.
If it was all really not just hokum then he didn’t know who he really was…or what he was…a monster? A curse? A weird excuse for an omega who failed his alpha and his child?
He could hear his hammering heart in his own ears as he began realizing that his fears were probably going to come true…he was probably going to die today and end up killing Taehyung and their pup as well.
But if Jimin was not really playing him then he could control the spirit that lives within him…could he really? He had had it living within him for years and yet had never known of its presence? How much of a dumbshit was he in reality?
A new array of questions piqued his senses next…did Taehyung know about this? Is that why he had forced to claim him? Was he too seeking to have superior heirs just like his father had?
Sudden pain twisted in his gut and Jin felt his lungs constricting more, his breathing cut off as he struggled to free himself. His hand moving to cup his belly as spine-breaking agony tore through him and he felt more blood trickling down his thighs.
The pup.
“I-I can’t walk-argghh!!” He plopped onto the floor, body shrinking and coiling into itself as tears sprang into his eyes “m-my p-pup…nghh…”
A part of him wished that he’d lose control and the godly spirit that lived within him would take over, not to mention he was almost sure it would because it always had before…but a part of him also knew that his omega could not really undo poison.
He hadn’t imagined dying like this though…to be honest, he hadn’t ever thought of dying really…his powers made it easy for him to forget that part of living.
He breathed slowly, a hand staying on his tummy as he blinked to himself and felt a flutter in his heart when a slight movement made a short gasp slip his lips. The pup…he moved…
Jin closed his eyes instantly, concentrating on his child as he tried to harp on the bond that had been absent since the very beginning of his pregnancy. Apologizing under his breath to the unborn baby as tears clogged his eyes, Jin caressed his tummy again, not sure why the side of him that had been so overprotective over the child wasn’t doing anything to help him keep his baby safe right now.
But that was until he realized it was…
The burn in his body began toning down…he wasn’t sure what was happening but the blistering agony of the venom was slowly ebbing away, the poison from the bite disappearing to leave him out of danger…although a growing fatigue still made his limbs lose all their strength.
The guards looked at him now with query in their eyes, realizing that the omega was with child.
“Stop making a fuss will’ya?” They chided, crouching to pick the wilted omega again.
“Need…just a little…” Jin mumbled groggily, his palm clasping around the guard’s leg in its own volition. He wasn’t aware that his brown eyes were an electric blue as his omega took over, making a last ditch effort to save himself. His body was too worn out and weak to even give him the strength to concentrate enough to let down the unabiding fetters he usually held onto to keep that destructive side of him held back. And although the little energy he could drag out didn’t help him much, but it gave him just enough to not slip into unconsciousness due to how weak his body felt.
The others gasped in fear when the said guard dropped lifelessly on the floor, his strength completely drained and it earned Jin harsher reactions as they cursed at him and tied his hands before dragging him to the plinth prepared for him. Jin barely registered what happened around, his sanity lost by now as he was slipping into the darkness that crowded his mind. But he could feel a cloud of calm fire building within him, a voice inside his head assuring him that none would hurt the pup, that would never be allowed.
And Jin’s heart felt the same flutter of assurance again, the pup…he was beyond human…not really a mortal…and could not be harmed or killed.
The voice growing to become a droning echoey hum ordering him to give in…he didn’t know to what but Jin felt like listening to it…he was in pain, he was exhausted and he was scared…he was ready to let the monster within win if it meant he could feel safe.
“I never wanted to believe that I am a monster” his voice was low as he mumbled to himself, eyes drooping close now “but I guess I was destined to be one anyway…”
There were people gathered to watch as the omega prince was put in chains…the royal guards proudly hollered as they let the people know that the mate of their most formidable enemy had already surrendered to the king and they’d kill him along with the trueblood.
This was the ultimate agenda of the deal they had struck with the King of Kleon…who had been stupid enough to believe that the war would end at that…a war never ends with one death…a war ends when both the parties begin to realize that if they do not stop the deaths will never end…
The people watched and roared as the crowd grew, some demanding the enemy omega to be punished before allowing him death, some praising their King’s powers and some simply watching the cruelty because they knew their voices wouldn’t ever be loud enough to make those above them listen to what they really wanted.
But no one saw when Jin’s eyes fluttered open to gaze beyond all the noises and the crowd of people who stood gaping and laughing and mocking at him, those tired teary blue eyes staying on something in the distance.
Something stirred within him, his omega keening in need and he felt the urgent need to submit as he saw the entire crowd falling quiet, their gazes startled and fearful matching their rushed breaths…even the guards were now quiet as Jin watched them unsheathing their swords, sweat cracking on their forehead as they too sensed the enormous aura of rage and dominance dangerously approaching where they stood.
“About time” a prideful voice cut in as Jin turned to watch the King walk onto the plinth, edging close to him with a snide smirk “I was beginning to think he got too scared to show up to save his omega.”
Jin felt the voice within chanting at him to let it overtake, desperate now as he stared back at Do-Hwan.
“He was busy saving his people-” “That proves his duty to his land is greater than his love for you” Do-Hwan quipped with a grin as he closed in on the chained omega “you must be so proud of your alpha eh? For leaving you unprotected in the hands of the enemy knowing I could kill you…” he clasped at a fistful of soft brown locks at the back of Jin’s head, yanking harshly to make the omega look at him.
Jin smiled up at the other, a buzz taking over him in rapid succession “that’s because he knows…that you won’t be able to kill me...”
His blue irises had a rim of glowing white now and he saw the alpha frown at him as he watched the bite mark on the omega’s shoulder vanish without leaving a trace.
“You sound very sure of yourself…I don’t think either of you will survive this though…try n act smart and snide as much as you want if you think that’s gonna work…” he threatened dryly, his spitefulness evident in his gaze.
“This is only the beginning…” the omega’s words were a light scoff, lips stretching to a curve at the corners.
Do-Hwan watched the omega’s blue eyes become more speckled with glowing white as seconds passed, and an odd dread bloomed within him to watch a haunting smile break upon that soft guiltless mouth.
“You won’t live to see it…but Zyon and soon every other land will hail me as the ultimate power…they will all worship me, your people, your trusted men…even the dogs who called you their master will kneel before me.”
For some bizarre reason Do-Hwan felt transfixed by those dazzling eyes…the words rang in his ears to brew fear and confusion and anger in his core. He told himself that it was just fickle daydreams, the omega was probably too swamped with the pain from the harsh bite. He was very sure that his plan could not fail and victory shall be his to claim.
A heavy growl tore through the air, making all gathered there fall to their knees as they watched the trueblood ride his stallion through the gates of the palace to where Jin was kept chained on the platform for all to see. His red gaze was murderous as he took in the sight and dismounted the stallion with the sword ready in his grip, his feet heavy as he approached the plinth.
Do-Hwan smirked at the sight, he kinda had a feeling that the trueblood would choose grandiose over stealth, riding into the scene like he didn’t care about what his enemy had plotted against him.
“I see your habit of believing that you’re undefeatable hasn’t really changed” he smiled down at the younger, who approached him with a sure intention to kill.
“You really have a death wish, don’t you?” The words were harsh and ferocious as the deep voice roared “you didn’t have to try so hard to die by my hands!!”
Taehyung’s gaze set on Jin, the sight of his omega kept restrained and hurt made his blood boil further, making him want to shred the King to pieces.
Jin gazed back at him, and that was when Taehyung caught the way those eyes were turning, white swirling in to mix with the blue as they dazzled against the afternoon light. No words passed between them but Taehyung could sense the striking arrogance and unnatural power peering through those eyes, the hint of the divine spirit simply waiting for a chance to take over the omega. He could see no trace of the wounds on Jin, which was rather a relief to him but he could feel the way his trueblood was agitated right now, seeking nothing more than taking its mate away from there and hide him somewhere safe and cosy.
“Well, it was your brother who gave me the idea though…and I thought why not…two’s always better than one” Do-Hwan shrugged, grinning loudly at him before his sly eyes moved to set on Jin “though I wouldn’t have done it if I had known your mate was with pup…I’d have ordered my men to kill him right there if I had known”.
The trueblood growled, his sword raising in a flash to come down on Do-Hwan’s throat. The King’s eyes merely moved to give a signal to the soldiers positioned a good distance away from where they stood.
Right before the trueblood could behead the man or unchain his mate, the part of the platform where he was standing gave away, the wood beneath his feet breaking apart to have him fall into a cage.
Taehyung growled, half annoyed and startled and half in pain as his skin burned the moment it came in contact with the metal bars that kept him entrapped within it.
“No use thrashing, you won’t break out trueblood” Do-Hwan’s voice was stern and sure “I heard that just like all of us, even your wolf is vulnerable to silver…”
Taehyung fumed, eyes wide and actions frantic as he roared, pushing and punching at the silver bars which kept him trapped all the same. Jin thrashed on instinct to get free as he watched his mate falling into danger.
“The most powerful mates in the world…now at my mercy” the King laughed cynically at their plight “all thanks to your brother though, if not for him I’d have not known how to overpower you.”
A line of archers soon surrounded the cage that held the trueblood, their bows strung ready as they took aim at him. Taehyung wasn’t surprised to hear that but he’d say that he had not expected Jungkook to do something like this…then again who was he kidding, this is something his brother would definitely do.
“I can tell he really wants you dead.”
“Yeah” Taehyung chuckled at those words, his eyes hopped between Jin struggling in those chains and the silver-tipped arrow-heads that waited like a curse for him “he’s been trying to get rid of me for quite a while now…unfortunately he never succeeds…”
“That’s because he’s still a kid and doesn’t really know how to make sure to get what he wants…” Do-Hwan’s eyes were simmering with boastful might as he stared at the trueblood finally helpless and trapped before him. He could see Taehyung’s eyes often moving towards his restless and squirming omega, making his worry evident to all who could see “but I do”.
Taehyung’s eyes moved sharply following the sound of an arrow cutting through the air before he felt it strike him, he moved to one side only to feel two more pierce into his leg and his back till he realized there wasn’t much space in there to move himself enough so that he could dodge the arrows that came at him without mercy to spear into his flesh. So, as an ultimate resort he put his hands up as a guard, trying his best to protect his head and the trueblood howled in pain as blood ran down from his newly acquired wounds as a swarm of arrows came at him from every side.
However, the prideful grin on Do-Hwan’s face was wiped off in the very next moment as he watched with utter bewilderment when the archers suddenly disintegrated into thin air, and horror filled him to see their bodies shrivelled to become a pile of bones. All eyes there gaped at the scene, shrieks and gasps erupted around and terror ran through everyone there as they saw the omega’s glowing white gaze stay where the archers were no longer there.
Jin didn’t even have to think when he felt his control slip and power of a different kind surged through him, making his gaze go white as he watched his mate facing the threat and be in pain. His insides reacting on instinct to protect his alpha.
Taehyung saw the change, he sensed the surge of power coursing through the omega…he watched Arcana take over Jin and in the very next second noted the chains holding him there snapping to dust.
A loud confusion broke out as the crowd ran haywire trying to flee in fear while hordes of soldiers now began circling around, their target although was the omega this time and no one noticed King Do-Hwan slip into the frenzy that surrounded to get lost in the crowd.
Although his wounds had him falling weak, Taehyung willed his trueblood out, bloodred gaze setting on the soldiers as he tried to protect his mate from their attacks. He gritted his teeth against the pain as he pulled the arrows out, blood soaking his clothes as he struggled to stay on his feet but his aura remained the same undefeatable as ever. The soldiers were forced to kneel before him again, their aim on the omega failing as the trueblood’s demand for their submission to him held them down.
And Taehyung watched his white-eyed mate walk through the line of kneeling soldiers to approach him, he knew what he sought to do and his trueblood though in pain and heavily bleeding was content to see his mate remain unscathed. He saw those dazzling eyes stay serene as Jin slipped a hand through the bars to set on his chest.
“You cannot die…yet” it was the same chilling voice Taehyung had heard the last time the divine spirit had taken over Jin. He felt his wounds close, the bleeding stop and his strength returned to him at the mere touch of his mate.
And instantly took the opportunity to use his renewed vigour as he commanded the very soldiers who had caged him in to let him out, and they dared not defy the superior command from the trueblood.
However, Taehyung noted how the moment it was done and he was free from the cage, Jin’s white gaze moved to set on the soldiers, draining them out of their very life as the omega strengthened itself further. He watched the same unbothered gaze move towards the people who scurried in fear to get away, those dazzling orbs setting on them now that he had eradicated the threat from the soldiers.
“Stop” Taehyung grasped at his shoulders turning him to face him instead, his trueblood gave a low growl in warning when he saw Jin turn to look towards the crowd again “I said stop.”
“A death is owed” the voice was strikingly calm and knowing “the throne must be empty for it to be claimed.”
The words made Taehyung follow the omega’s gaze to see Do-Hwan trying to flee secretly hiding within the crowd.
“True” Taehyung felt his insides fill with anger and disgust, both for this vile alpha as well as for his brother, he too would pay...Taehyung promised himself that, he had endured enough of Jungkook’s sick games…now he will put an end to it…he had to “the throne must be made empty for it to be claimed…”

When Jimin finally made his way out of the chamber to hurry through the hallway loud screams and haunting wails filled the air around the castle. He chose to walk to the large open bay window along the hallway in the second floor to look down and see what was going on and froze in his place.
The trueblood was here and busy in a duel with the King, whose wounds proved that his failure was close at hand.
“Jimin” the voice startled him as he snapped about to be instantly engulfed in the scents he had been craving to feel comforted by for a really long time.
“Oh my child” his mother cried at his shoulder, her tears leaving wet patches on his clothes. His eyes instantly filled with tears, heart too full and head blank as he slowly gazed up to meet his father’s eyes who smiled back at him as he caressed his head with tears running down his eyes.
“Your friend helped us out of there” he let him know to help settle the query in Jimin’s gaze “he said we need to get out of here soon if you don’t want to go back to Kleon.”
And it was then Jimin realized what having a ‘friend’ meant.
More tears filled his eyes but it was the first time that he was crying out of happiness…out of gratefulness…the emotions he had never felt before. He hastily nodded, still not able to find words to express the tide of emotions rushing in his heart.
But when they walked to where the rowdy ruckus was still ongoing they realized it was finally over now as King Do-Hwan lay choking on his own blood at the trueblood’s feet, the slit on his throat bleeding him out.
Jimin’s eyes stayed on the man, his heart thumping in his ears as the world seemed to slow down around him when those much dreaded eyes came to set on him. They weren’t cruel or angry or sadistic now…but scared…and Jimin felt a twisted kind of satisfaction run through him to see him like that…to see the man who had ruined his life and tortured his very soul now lying helpless and scared and in pain.
Karma is truly a bitch…it always makes sure that you get what you give.
And Jimin didn’t know that he was smiling to feel a weight lift off of him as he watched the light leave those eyes…he felt a sense of freedom and peace feeding his hopes to look forward to his future now.
However, when his eyes moved up to meet that of the trueblood’s he realized that the sword the alpha held was going to earn the score of his life next.
“You know you don’t deserve to live” Taehyung’s voice was a snarl as he lunged at Jimin, bloodred gaze blazing in rage till his mate was pushing him back.
“Wait-wait…Taehyung…he had his reasons!” Jin exclaimed, his hands set against his mate’s chest as he struggled to ensure he wouldn’t behead Jimin.
“Move Jin! He knew everything and yet he brought you here! This-” he was pulling Jin to a side now to swing his sword at Jimin, who coiled back in fear but said nothing against the accusations.
Jin found no other way but to cling onto his alpha, wrapping his arms around Taehyung as he set his mouth against the other’s neck and let his body release calming pheromones to help the alpha’s rage tone down as he mumbled pleas to him, his nose rubbing at the side of his neck endearingly.
“Please calm down…he made a mistake but he saved me too…please listen to me…they kept his parents imprisoned to threaten him” Jin’s voice was much softer as he helped his alpha match his breathing and slowly settle down from his ferocious state.
Taehyung closed his eyes, his mate’s pleas effectively working on him as his alpha dutifully listened to the omega.
“I have told you so many times…he is not to be trusted” his gaze was still angry as he looked down at Jin clinging onto him “do you know what could have happened? You could have lost the pup Jin…I know, I felt it too…my trueblood went berserk because I felt both of you in pain and in fatal danger”.
Jin blinked up at him, he could see the worry and the guilt in his eyes…guilt of not being a good alpha who’d be there to protect his mate and his pup at all times.
“I-I’m fine now, so is he…it healed” Jin’s voice was low but assuring.
“Doesn’t change the fact that you broke the promise you made to me” Taehyung’s gaze was still angry on Jin.
Jin’s couldn’t hold the gaze as guilt speared into his heart as well “a lot was at stake-” “Even more important than our lives?”
“What good would it have been if I was sitting at home while they tortured you to death here?” Jin’s eyes were still downcast but the words were quite resilient, that impudence in him showing itself effortlessly.
Taehyung sighed shortly, knowing full well how fruitless it was to talk about this with Jin and told himself that the omega will probably never learn to listen to him.
Jimin watched them going back and forth with their arguing as he held his breath, till Taehyung looked more human and less like an infuriated trueblood and Seokjin turned towards him with a smile.
“So…are you coming to Kleon with us or are you…?” His eyes shifted to Jimin’s parents who stood a little distance away, his face falling a little as he realized that it will probably be a lot better if Jimin stayed here with his parents rather than go back to live as a slave to Jungkook.
“I” Jimin’s voice made Jin turn back to him “I’d like to stay back here.”
And Jin nodded understanding him, as he gave him a little smile “go ahead…you are free now…”
“What the hell are you talking about? He isn’t yours to free” Taehyung came by his side, glaring at his omega’s habit of playing the hero all the time “his freedom is not your decision to make.”
“Well, fuck whoever made those shitty rules…I don’t care about those stupid laws…Jimin is free to do whatever he wants…he has every right to.”
“I don’t want anymore problems in my hands Jin…stop being stubborn” his head snapped up to meet Jimin’s gaze “you’re-” “We’ll just say he escaped…run away Jimin…just go!”
Seokjin shooed him away and Jimin couldn’t help but break out into a giggle as he saw the other stand up for him, and it was the first time Jimin let emotions overpower him as he walked up to the kind-hearted omega and hugged him close, letting his mind take in the serenity of that sweet scent of jasmine. He knew no matter how far he went or how much time would pass, he was always going to hold this scent to himself…a scent that made him feel loved and supported and cared for.
Jimin knew he was going to keep this scent as a remembrance for a long time.
“I apologize to you although I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness” his voice was brittle with emotion as he spoke “if ever I decide to become selfish again, I’ll come and find you.”
“Uh…no…don’t do that, I know you…and you’re nothing but bad news” Taehyung held a frown against him hugging his mate and being all sweet and cosy with Jin, because he sure had his doubts about this sly omega “just run…go before I change my mind…n don’t let anybody catch you.”
Jimin bowed before him, a soft smile playing on his lips “let me help you trust me then.”
Taehyung went taut and a growl erupted out his chest the minute he saw Jimin set a hand over Jin’s belly.
“I’m not going to hurt him…I’m just trying-I can hear the pup…I mean his thoughts…he can hear you Seokjin, he can hear both of you” Jimin looked from Taehyung to Jin, who’s soft brown eyes suddenly glistened with unshed tears “he’s very fond of you…you can’t feel him but he can feel your every emotion and pain…he assures that he’s going to protect you from harm just like he-” Jimin stopped, mouth agape as he tried reading those thoughts again.
“Just like he what Jimin?” Jin’s voice was awestruck, it was easy to see how moved he was to hear the pups thoughts.
“Just like how he took away your pain when he absorbed the poison from your blood” Jimin looked wonderstruck as well as he gaped back at Jin “because it can’t kill him…but it could kill you...”
Taehyung just stared at the hand on Jin’s stomach like a hawk, his gaze never leaving “ok so if you’re done…you can go now.”
The words made Jin turn to face him with a teary-eyed glare and a pout “did you even hear what he said?”
“Yeah, I heard him alright” he spoke, taking the chance to pull Jin to his side and away from Jimin’s touch.
“Our pup…he saved me…I can’t heal poison…I knew something was different…I felt him move…he saved me…he took the poison to himself…” Jin was rambling, excited and yet spoke with emotional eyes added with a pout as he relayed everything to his alpha “why are you not amazed? He’s so tiny and yet he’s so cool!”
“Well, after you…nothing amazes me anymore…I’ve learnt to take the surprises as they come” the alpha shrugged, an arm snaking habitually around his omega, finally at peace to have him safe in the coil of his arm.
Jimin smiled a little to himself watching them, a part of him often mused about how he was a major reason for how the prophecy had fallen in place…and what an accidental twist of fate it had all been.
“Don’t worry Seokjin…he’s going to be a strong pup” he assured with a smile “just remember what I told you” Jimin spoke taking his leave with a bow now “may you forever remember your strength and never misuse it.”
And even when Taehyung mounted the stallion along with him, placing himself right behind him, Jin peered into the direction he could still see the carriage which held Jimin and his family moving away towards a golden horizon.
“So now what?” He spoke, finally heaving a long sigh of relief as he relaxed against his alpha. His hand naturally resting over the arm Taehyung had coiled around his belly.
“Well…the war is over” Taehyung’s voice held a thoughtful calm as he spoke resting his chin against Jin’s head, his trueblood’s affection pouring out on instinct.
“We’re going home?” Jin’s words were a mumble, the exhaustion finally catching up and the security of his mate’s scent was enough to make him feel safe.
“Yes…I’ll take you home…just after a little detour”
Jin’s head lolled to a side, his nose tilting up to press against Taehyung’s neck as he let the strong scent assure him further that no harm would come to him or the pup now that the alpha was here to guard him from every danger “what detour?”
“You’ll know when we get there…he sure deserves a visit from me after what he has done today.”
“Who are we talking about?” His eyes still scrunched and half shut as he peeked at the other and saw Taehyung’s jaw grow hard and his eyes glowing with an intent fury.
“The one who’s been escaping my sword till now…the one I’ll need to eliminate for good this time.”
á na márië.
[A\N] at some point I forgot that it's just words I put together n cried for several minutes when I wrote about Jimin's emotions in the story...I don't cry often but something about his character just makes it so ... I don't even know what it is...
Is this normal? Did anyone of you cry while reading? Or am I going crazy?
I hope I could do justice to his character.
