Third Person’s P.O.V.
Powerful people tell powerful lies…and that is just how the world works.
And Jimin had learnt this years ago…
“There need not be a war if we can come to an understanding” the quill glided on the paper in elegant draws as the King prepared the royal message to be delivered in secret
“In the midst of chaos there is also opportunity” the King quoted, a smirk curving at his lips as light flickered against his dark eyes.
The omega had watched him prepare the very trap that he suspected would become the very first step towards his downfall.
And when Jimin had almost decided to spill everything when he’d meet the Commander the next morning but the fear for the lives of his dear ones made him choose to remain silent. He had feared this, although King Do-Hwan had been very sure that Jungkook’s madness to see himself as the most powerful alpha would make him inevitably fall into this trap.
The trap that would ensure that Kleon would have no royal alpha to sit at the throne…nor to protect it from its enemy.
“Have you done what I asked of you?” The voice behind him made Jimin stiffen and he turned to bow before the alpha.
“Yes, my lord…I have” he gulped knowing he didn’t need to send messengers to bring back news to know what King Do-Hwan was planning, but orders are orders.
“Good…wall with me”
He quietly followed after the King, walking down the long silent hallway that only reverberated of the rustle of silks and the tinkle of jade pieces that adorned the royals’ attire. But his heart was a mess of anxiousness and his mind was distressed with a fear he knew not how to soothe.
They entered the King’s chambers and Jimin knew he had to think fast because Jungkook seemed all set to follow his twisted plans, which Jimin wanted to call foolish because the alpha wasn’t aware of the cunning and cruelty King Do-Hwan was capable of. So, when he handed the messenger the scroll that held the suggestion about a pact the two kingdoms could work upon, Jimin knew this was the premonition of a catastrophe that would inevitably occur.
“M-My lord” Jimin voiced with his eyes kept low, hands timidly clutching at the hem of his loose sleeves “please…I urge you to think again, Kleon will be in grave danger if this-arck!”
Jimin felt the grip tighten around his neck as he struggled, tears filling his eyes as he watched Jungkook’s eyes turn red with rage “how many times do I have to tell you to not speak out of your place omega?!”
“I am try-ing to help Sire…he’s a man without a conscience! You’ll be putting yourself in danger too!” Jimin’s voice was raspy as he struggled to speak but felt his breathing being cut off and choked, his knees buckled when the King let go of him and he ended up on the floor heaving for air.
“I am doing this for Kleon! My troops are at a loss because of him! So, he shall pay the price!” Jungkook yelled out the words, eyes wild and angry as he felt his resilience give way to his fears “if Zyon wants his head they can have it…I will not watch Kleon be razed to dust because of him.”
“He won’t stop my lord…he never does” Jimin’s voice was utterly concerned as his façade of silence faded away, his tears true and pain reflecting the scars his heart had endured “forgive my audacity but I have known him much longer than you…he is not someone you should put your trust upon.”
“Tsk…what’s the matter with you? Is Zyon not your real home omega? Or are you scared that Do-Hwan will win and take you back to live in that hell I picked you out of?”
Jungkook chuckled, leaning close as he knelt before the weeping figure on the floor “don’t worry…I don’t give up on what’s mine that easily…besides, it’s always better to know your options, who sid anything about trusting him” he stood up, pulling the omega up as well “this is the reason omegas aren’t allowed to talk about things that are beyond their understanding” his onyx eyes stayed on the omega, hand reaching out to hook under Jimin’s chin as he tilted the soft weeping face to look up at him “I am a King Jimin, I trust none but myself.”
However, Jimin knew that this was a trap Do-Hwan wanted Jungkook to fall in…after all he was the one who had informed Do-Hwan about Jungkook’s envy against his brother but he feared that the King’s obstinate need to get rid of the trueblood would cost him dearly this time…and Jimin prayed with all his heart and soul that it wouldn’t cost Jungkook his life.
Jimin knew he shouldn’t have associated himself with trying to help them…he should have let it be as it had been planned from the very beginning, as expected from an omega who had been enslaved, as an omega who had been put as a spy to gather information of his ‘enemy’…and he would have, if only he hadn’t gotten so attached with the people here…so much so that when he read into the trueblood’s mind and learnt why he looked so troubled, he felt an ardent need to help him.
He could read Taehyung’s desperation and confusion to know what he could do to ensure his mate’s and their child’s safety, and for a moment Jimin had forgotten about everything else and remembered the same kind of desperation he had felt when his mate was in danger…he couldn’t think of anything but how to save what was his…but he had failed.
And it was that memory and wild emotion that led him to agree to help the trueblood…although he was sure it was too much for Taehyung, he could see the shock written all over his face. However, the thing that startled him was watching Taehyung go silent for more than a moment, questions rallying in his head as he froze in his place.
Well, Jimin wouldn’t blame him…there was a reason Eulan had to hide away the omega prince and they probably shouldn’t have crossed the line to drag him out before the world.
Because it’s not every day that you have an actual demigod living amongst mortals.
“Some myths are prophecies…to a future we couldn’t foretell” his voice was low as he repeated the words he had heard the old lady say “just like the legends that spoke of true events that had turned to become mere myths and no one knew that they’d be witnessing history unfold before their eyes again.”
The war between Nox, the queen of the night and darkness and Selene, the moon ended with the creation of the mysterious Arcana, a power born out their clashing divine strengths.
But not being a real ‘god’, it was denied entrance in the holy abode of the gods up above neither could it bear the thought of joining the demons down below.
The folklores of Eulan call Arcana the first omega but the reality was no spirit could exist in the mortal world without a vessel…and it so happened that the vessel the spirit had chosen the first time was an omega who was on the verge of death. The divine spirit had rejuvenated the dying mortal but soon realised that the body would not be able to contain the spirit for long, neither was it capable enough to make use of its godly powers to rule over the mortals.
Arcana started getting restless, feeling disrespected to be left to struggle among mortals, more so when the vessel it had taken got marked and was forced to bow down to a mere alpha…expected to do what he commanded…and live like a slave.
It felt dishonoured but chose to accept it only with the hope that the children its vessel would bear would be powerful enough to give him the strength to rise to its real status and finally rule over the disgraceful mortals.
But when the child was born and Arcana took the chance to break off from its vessel and takeover the baby, it realized that the child was just as incompetent as the previous vessel. But being overzealous in its aim, it tried to use its real strength and thus ended up killing the entire family.
And that is when its fate changed…the gods put a curse on it, entrapping it in the space between the mortal world and the divine so that never again could the brazen spirit take a vessel without being permitted to.
Hundreds of years passed and Arcana remained trapped in limbo, neither a god nor a mortal…neither living nor dead…just watching the world and waiting…waiting for a chance to get its freedom.
But the opportunity it got came in the most unexpected of ways…and Arcana had smiled at the foolishness of the mortals yet again when a young mother in her need to save her child from imminent death came to make a deal…to save a life at the price of her own. She had agreed to break her bond with her mate and become its vessel in return for her child’s life.
It was a forbidden magic but that didn’t matter to Arcana as long as it could get its freedom, however it had some demands of its own.
It wanted the child as its vessel because it could sense the unique power of regeneration the child was born with. It had planned to use this vessel to achieve what it had sought to but it was only after taking over the little omega’s body that Arcana realized that the sorceress had a put a curse on the child to ensure that the spirit remained under his control, thus ensuring that Seokjin had the upper hand to choose how to command the spirit and use its powers and not the other way around.
This infuriated Arcana so much that it tried to break off the seal to take over the vessel…failing which it then attacked the sorceress. That was the first time Seokjin’s soft brown innocent eyes had turned white and along with his mothers’, he had taken thirteen more lives in the blink of an eye.
The child had regained its power over the other after a moment, not realising what he had done and earned the name of being a curse…a monster…a fearsome thing that couldn’t be allowed to live.
But no matter how many times the guards let the sword cut into his flesh, the wound disappeared instantly…hence earning him another much rumoured title of being immortal.
The magic remained unknown, the seal hidden and people never learnt that the child they tried to hide away was part human part divine…a demigod…
No one suspected anything…except the master at the monastery who watched the child grow…how fearless the child was…how oddly brave…as if somehow deep inside he knew that it was beyond mortal power to hurt him…beyond human understanding to know how unique he was and how futile their wishes to keep him under their power would turn to be.
Because under the garb of the innocent, unaware, compassionate and naive face of the young omega prince lived the vengeance of a divine spirit waiting for the chance to strike.
When Seokjin learnt the truth behind his travel to Kleon, Arcana was prepared to kill that alpha king since it had pledged that never again would it be enslaved to a mere alpha again.
However, the thoughts took a radical turn when the stupid omega did one thing right for once…that was to stumble before the trueblood by chance…however, that small wink of chance was all Arcana needed to know that destiny had finally smiled upon it…and it would soon have its freedom.
Even if it meant he’d have to kill Seokjin and his mate to break off the seal…because once Arcana could get its hands on the perfect vessel, born of the strongest alpha and the most powerful omega, every mortal would be bound to bow before it anyway and then they’ll finally hail Arcana as a god.
Jimin sighed closing his eyes as he pushed back the images he had read in the old lady’s head. He wasn’t sure how the woman knew so much or where had she learnt it all but it seemed that she could sense the past and future of every person she touched. Although she remembered nothing about her own self, who she was or where she belonged and if asked only replied that the gods returned her life because she broke a promise…and would only die when she fulfilled it.
He was aware that the times were terrible, the powers Seokjin kept hidden would breakout if he lost control over that destructive side of him…and there’s a high possibility of that happening with what Jungkook has been secretly planning under the shroud of the war.
“The news came that they have fifty thousand men waiting outside the North Gate! This could result in a massacre for Kleon!”
“Our troops are half in number! How the hell does the Commander think he is going to lead Kleon to victory?!”
“And why must we trust his words when he led our troops to failure the last time?! I say we suggest for a treaty of understanding! At least that’s better than watching the trueblood betray his own men and let the enemy win!”
“Treaty you say…but a treaty demands compromise” Jungkook’s voice was heavy and it was very evident that he had no intention to accept a compromise “I will not sacrifice lands that belong to me to push back the war…let them attack! Kleon will not be conquered! My father didn’t die to let those filthy Zyonians walk on my land!”
The lords fell silent at the fury in their lords’ voice and Jungkook tried to calm down again, resuming the grim silence he often held at court.
“So, I hope you really are confident that Kleon can win this war even though we are short on men and our troops aren’t as intimidating as it has been for years” the King’s eyes moved in a sharp glare at the General.
“The Commander has prepared the plans well Sire, our men have already been positioned at the gates and the borders to ensure Zyon cannot trick us” Hoseok relayed the information “I believe we can win.”
“Very well then…that’s all I needed to know” a smile curved on the thin pink lips “prepare the troops General” Jungkook ordered as he sat on his esteemed throne looking as much of the prideful King as he was “we attack at dawn.”

Jin had woken up in an empty bed yet again, Taehyung was nowhere to be seen and for some reason the omega felt those troubled thoughts taking over his mind again. Although the alpha had assured him that everything was fine, he still wasn’t sure what he had done or why was Taehyung being so cold and indifferent to him.
The assurances weren’t enough to not make the omega feel as if his alpha was hiding something from him…because it clearly showed in his behaviour whenever he was around. Taehyung was either too careful about what he said or didn’t speak at all, and this was beginning to frustrate Jin entirely. He had been telling himself that the trueblood had a lot on his mind but he couldn’t deny that he felt so hollow and something twisted within him when he’d sit alone at dinner thinking Taehyung wasn’t home yet but would hear the attendants tell him moments later that master had come home hours ago and was working in his study.
This has been going on for the last couple days, and although Jin tried to confront but Taehyung assured him every time that everything was fine. So, Jin decided to leave him alone…not even sharing with the alpha the fact that his body was growing more frail everyday since the trueblood denied to let him draw strength from him.
He got up despite the fact that his body felt heavy and fatigued as he stumbled in his steps to head into the washroom, his stomach twisting as he felt bile rise up his throat. He felt weak, bloated, sick and absolutely pathetic…the pregnancy was somehow not treating him very well these days, not to mention the fact that he still couldn’t bond with the pup and his omega was chaotic with need one moment, wailing for attention the next, fuming at him for being a bad mate who had driven his alpha away and Jin was struggling with what to do or how to feel because he couldn’t take this suffocation he felt due to the indifference his alpha showed towards him and the ache that burned through his body grew with every passing moment.
This was the one time he felt like he really needed Taehyung…but wasn’t sure how to say it out loud.
He pushed away his thoughts, showering and dressing up before he walked outside to see the attendants busy to complete their respective chores. Everyone seemed to be in some sort of rush, whispers about the war and murmurs of worry filled the air while distant bellows and alarms chilled the air with warnings.
“Yuna, Midel, Eunji, Frida…Tessa too? All of them are leaving?” Jin asked being confused.
“They’re betas so they won’t lose their lives if their partners die but their men are going to war and with our soldiers being outnumbered this time there is a high chance they will not make it back, so they fear staying in their homes all alone” the ajhumma spoke stirring the ladle as she cooked the meat stew “it’s normal during times of war for people to leave their lands in search of safety for themselves and their children.”
Jin fell into the whirl of his thoughts as he pondered on the words.
“There’s no place for them to stay safe? Kleon is a large kingdom…why then-” “It has nothing to do with how large or small it is Prince” she sighed, going over to check on the rice “no one thinks for the less fortunate in a society, not until we are needed.”
It had been quite some time since Jin had begun understanding that the differences between the sections of the society in Kleon was rather hideous. The King seemed completely unbothered about these people who struggled and suffered on their own and hence the people had over time began to accept the oppression as a common phenomenon.
“And how do they know that they will be safe elsewhere?”
“They don’t”
Jin had a visible frown on his brow to hear that and somewhere inside he could feel his concern for there helpless souls and it was growing to become fear for their lives and how to help them.
“We aren’t safe anywhere Prince…we aren’t valuable enough to be protected as you royals are…”
He spent the afternoon watching the women pack their things and leave the servant quarters, but when they saw them dragging the unaware toddlers out of the castle to head for a journey they knew not if they’d survive, Jin could not stand there and do nothing.
“Stay here…stay in the castle, it’s way safer than being on the road during wartime” he urged to them being breathless in his anxiousness.
“Prince it’s not just us…there are other beta women and unmated omegas who are travelling together” Eunji spoke to him and Jin realised how vulnerable they must be feeling to think of doing something so dangerous.
“If the enemy breaches through the gates, our families will be the first to be ruined…it is better to flee when we still can” Yuna’s voice cracked as she spoke to him, their fears visible in their eyes.
Jin felt just as helpless as them, not knowing how to figure out a way to help them in their predicament.
“Eunji…how many of you are travelling?”
The beta lady shared a glance with the others before she spoke “about thirty more”
Jin blinked not really sure if what he was thinking about would be a good idea or not but there’s only one way to know anyway.
“Leave your things here and go back to your homes tonight, I want you to bring back all those beta women and the omegas to North Gate castle by tomorrow morning.”
“Here?” They gawked at him, unprepared to hear him say that.
“Yes here…there is enough space to house thirty more people here”
“Master wouldn’t allow-” “You need not worry about that” Jin took up the responsibility on himself to ensure that they felt safe and welcome enough “this is a time of emergency.”
After Jin sent them to their homes, he went out to search for Yushik knowing he’d need his help to make the preparations to accommodate thirty people. He also sent a message to Hoseok, telling him that he needed a stack of weapons, swords, daggers and crossbows delivered to North Gate castle as soon as possible. He debated talking about it with Taehyung but in the end didn’t put much thought to it, especially because if he said no then Jin wouldn’t have much scope to help those defenceless women.
Besides, he didn’t want to trouble him.
Taehyung had been very silent and serious the last couple of days, and Jin had assumed a lot many things as its cause, settling on the thought that it was probably because of the war. All of Kleon blamed him for bringing this war upon them because of his failure to win against Eulan. This made Jin feel even more accused and ashamed of himself as well, it was also the reason he felt a sense of responsibility towards the people and wanted to help. But he knew the trueblood wouldn’t allow him to join the troops this time.
So, he decided to do what he could.
*
Yoongi was very concerned with what he saw…and he could swear he had never seen Taehyung be this sceptical before going to war. He had forever known that war was something innate in the trueblood, he basked in the glory of his own strength, prideful and undaunted in might as he strode stronger than everyone else. That was the Taehyung he had seen leading the men as the Commander of the troops, not this grim and quiet man.
“Did something happen at the palace?” He began slowly trying to understand the temperament of the younger but silence was all that ruled inside the tent “did Jungkook-” “Jin…is with child”
Yoongi wanted to congratulate him about it but something made him feel like that was the reason he looked so concerned.
“Isn’t that supposed to be good news?”
“It sure is” Taehyung sighed, leaning his head back against the settee “except for the fact that my mate is trying to use my child as a means to overrule me.”
“Overrule you?” Yoongi’s gaze curiously set on the trueblood who still stayed leaning against the back of the seat looking just as worried.
“I promised to myself that I will not let anyone hurt my mate…but now I am stuck in such a mess” his breathing was deep as Yoongi watched him close his eyes, a hand dragging down his face “I can’t figure out how to protect him from himself.”
Yoongi moved to take a seat beside him, a frown building on his brow “you mean protect Jin from himself? But why would he hurt himself?”
He couldn’t understand what he was talking about but something told him this was far more serious than it looked.
“Taehyung? What is it that you are talking about?” he debated before asking the next question, knowing it wasn’t his place to ask such a question but he was aware of the circumstances in which the trueblood had claimed the omega prince “does he not want the child?”
He watched the younger sit up, back straight as he turned to look at the elder.
“I too had thought of the same thing but that doesn’t seem to be the issue” he replied, hand resting on his knee as he deeply inhaled before continuing “apparently there is a god living inside my mate…his sorceress mother summoned it to make Jin ‘unkillable’ because she feared that Jin would be beheaded for being born a male omega…”
Yoongi stared at him not knowing what to say to that.
“But that thing wanted Jin as it’s vessel…and then there was some confusion…and then she died and a few more people died…”
“You sound quite confused as well” Yoongi frowned at the younger.
“Let me complete because it doesn’t end there” Taehyung tried to not look as troubled as he felt while he tried to remember right everything he had heard Jimin say “the god couldn’t completely take control over him because of the curse or seal or something like that which his mother had put on him…and apparently it is that same curse that binds the god to Jin and allows him to use the gods’ powers as his own…making him an actual…real…demigod!”
Taehyung let out the breath he felt he was holding “my mate is a demigod hyung…and he says he ‘allowed’ me to mark him because our child would be the strongest and most powerful vessel for him…says I need to give him his freedom…he threatened to kill my mate and take away my pup! And I can’t do anything about it because if I hurt him…I hurt Jin!!” He kicked at the table at his front which rolled over to crash into the cabinets that tumbled down spilling the weapons inside “fuck! I am losing my mind!”
“He wants to kill Jin?” Yoongi had visibly frozen in place, trying to process everything he had heard.
“Yes…said he’d break my mate inside out if I try to hold him under my command” the trueblood relied voice hoarse with building anxiousness “I now know why Jungkook wanted him so badly…he didn’t want Jin…he wanted to control the god inside Jin…he is a walking weapon hyung…if Jin loses his control or the spell that keeps the god bound breaks, I don’t know what he’d actually do…”
“He’d try to escape from being trapped definitely…that’d be the first instinct of anyone who feels tied down” Yoongi spoke, eyes wide and worried just like the trueblood’s.
“Well…that’s the one thing I can’t let him do…he’ll kill Jin in the process-” “Or he might not…Jin isn’t what he wants to hurt…especially if he wants the pup, so for now he needs Jin to stay alive and healthy…and for that he needs you too” Yoongi voiced his thoughts and for a moment Taehyung felt the wild apprehensions in him quiet down as he realized that Yoongi was right, at least for now Jin wouldn’t be hurt.
“But-what if he tries to take control over the pup…how do I-” “He might have already done that, we can’t know anything for sure but Jin is still in control, right?”
Taehyung nodded, although remembering the slips of actions on Jin’s part being driven by the need to draw energy from him to ensure the pup was built strong and invincible with the trueblood’s unmatched powers. However, he had been denying to let Jin draw energy from him for the past few days, fearing that it was definitely some sort of a ploy.
“He doesn’t know anything though” Taehyung spoke gulping down the worry “he doesn’t know about the curse his mother put on him or the fact that there’s a god living inside him…he thinks it’s his omega”
Honestly, Taehyung had never felt this pathetic… he knew Jin was not at fault for anything and was actually a victim of this entire thing and yet he couldn’t help but feel as if he had been betrayed by his mate. It was the reason he couldn’t act like everything was normal because he was so troubled after that episode of encountering the other side of his omega. He couldn’t stop thinking that Jin was actually in danger every moment.
“So, what now…? What are you thinking about doing?”
“Well, I guess I learnt one thing very well…he is tied to my trueblood’s command, I guess in his need to work out his plan he overlooked the compromise he chose to make…the compromise to submit to me to get what he wants…and that’s unalterable because I have decided that no matter how hard he plans to fight me…I am not releasing him off of the mate bond in anyway. I deny to let him believe that it was he who ‘allowed’ me to mark him…I claimed him to be my mate! How dare he threaten me?! I don’t care if he’s a god or a weapon or whatever it is…he was bound to be claimed by me!!”
Yoongi saw him jerk up off the settee, fuming and pacing around as he punched at the large table laid with varied stuff in the middle of the tent.
“Do you realise that you’re mistaking that spirit’s actions as Jin’s?”
The words made Taehyung still, angry eyes unsure as he stared at the elder.
“As you said…Jin is unaware of the very truth that there is a divine spirit living within him…he doesn’t know that this thing chose you or allowed you…he still thinks you marked him…he doesn’t want to break the bond…”
Taehyung went quiet as he let the words sink in “it’s better that he doesn’t know…he doesn’t need to know…”
“I guess that means you’re not going to tell anything about all of this to Jin…and you think that would be a right decision?”
“I don’t know” his hands pressed on the table, head hanging low and he looked depleted of his rage all of a sudden “I don’t care about anything other than the fact that he is my mate and I need him to be safe…I don’t even give a fucking shit about this war” his teeth gritted as he spoke “but apparently this war is my fault…so I am ready to take the responsibility.”
“But are you sure about leaving him in the North Gate castle? Even though you are aware that you and your home would be Zyon’s first target?”
Taehyung fell silent at those words, gaze growing anxious as he turned away from Yoongi to focus on the plan laid on the table.
“We attack at dawn Taehyung…you don’t have much time to think” Yoongi walked around the table to face the younger again “I can tell something is going in your head” grey eyes deep with concern stay on the trueblood “he will be left alone and at a greater disadvantage without you-” “Not like I can take him along either…North Gate is the safest bet for him…for now” Taehyung breathed out “besides, have faith in me hyung…we are going to win this anyway.”
Yoongi watched the smirk pulling at the corner of the younger’s mouth, the arrogance of the trueblood resurfacing as he spoke but he could still sense the worry sitting heavily on Taehyung.
“I’m amazed though” Yoongi spoke to bring the younger’s gaze on himself “I never expected you to accept help or believe Jimin…you of all people always believed that he’s a cunning omega who manipulates people.”
“My views haven’t really changed, I didn’t trust a single word he uttered till I was sure that he couldn’t lie to me” Taehyung spoke matter-of-factly but his voice grew more thoughtful as he revisited the memory of Jimin’s scared eyes when being commanded by the trueblood he had spilled more than he had intended to “although I don’t know what it is about Jin that makes him want to look out for him…he seems oddly concerned about my mate, which I deny to accept as a show of kindness…that omega is a snake, and I’m pretty sure he won’t hesitate to kill if it became necessary to save himself.”
“So, you think he has an ulterior motive to reveal the truth about your mate to you?”
“He’s a manipulative little thing but I’m smarter than him, my instincts have never failed me…he’d be a fool to think I’d fall in some trap” Taehyung thought out loud “I think his powers give him easy access to have the ability to know everything, I’m sure he knows more than anyone else…things none of us will never know about, and I am very curious to know what that is….”
“I’d be more careful than cocky if I were you…you’ve too many enemies lurking around, it’s better you don’t make anymore…and I hope you realize that your mate naturally becomes a target because of you as well”
He watched Taehyung grow silent again, smirk fading as his eyes grew hard against the map as he pushed the little red flags to places that were under direct threat.
“I know that…but Jin is no helpless omega, he knows how to protect himself.”
“He’s in a more vulnerable situation this time though…don’t be too arrogant Taehyung, you can’t possibly expect him to take up a sword and fight a threat like he did last time…I am not denying that he is well trained but he is with child…it’s dangerous”
“I am not being arrogant, as my mate he need not fear anyone…I won’t let him or our pup get hurt” his voice sounded heavier than what it had been a minute ago as he placed a little red flag right where the map showed his home “I am his alpha after all.”
“Well, don’t mind me but I agree with the Commander here” Hoseok walked inside the tent, a smile pulling at a corner of his mouth “his mate is no helpless omega…he’s always got something up his sleeve” he went to place the message he had received from Jin on the table before the trueblood as he joked “I won’t be surprised if he has his own mini army planning to attack the enemy.”
Taehyung’s brows furrowed as he picked up the letter Jin had written to the General seeking his help.
“Just so you know, I am being a snitch only because of how much I care about him…I admire his bravery but yes, I have to agree that he can be very naïve at times” Hoseok informed walking around to take his place beside Yoongi, who however seemed as unbothered by his presence as ever, or so he tried to show.
“Wow…so, not even a word of greeting…what did I do now?” Hoseok leaned in to whisper to Yoongi, whose gaze didn’t move from the map on the table.
“I heard you are posted at the Norther Gate for the first attack tomorrow” Yoongi spoke not looking up “be careful, Zyon isn’t an easy enemy”.
“Always looking out for me behind my back, aren’t you?” Hoseok smirked leaning closer still, a giggle hiding at the back of his throat “that is such a ‘you’ kinda thing Yoonie-” “Oh for goodness sake…don’t make me watch this…makes my skin crawl!” Taehyung grumbled grabbing at his sword, the letter still clutched in his other hand as he headed to get out of the tent and head back to his home to see what his omega was up to this time “I liked it better when this fuckface was an enemy…way better than watching you two flirting right in front of me!”
“Does that mean you consider me a friend now?” Hoseok chirped loudly, grinning wide as he asked after the trueblood, earning another curse from Taehyung in return.
“Well, because you called me a friend I guess I should tell you that an informer said at the court something about North Gate castle being a target of Zyon’s troops…apparently King Do-Hwan got very curious about your mate after he learnt what he had done in Eulan.”
Taehyung froze in his steps, head snapping around in shock “who told him about my mate?”
“Words have wings of their own Taehyug-ah…don’t you remember those days when the late King took you as the trump card to win against the enemy, no one knew your name or what you looked like…but everyone knew that a trueblood walked among Kleon’s troops” Hoseok shrugged, a smirk gracing his lips “that’s how power works…it becomes your identity, not the other way around.”
A sliver of worry grasped at Taehyung almost instantly as the thought of Jin becoming a target and being harmed clutched at his heart “Hoseok, arrange the soldiers…I need a battalion of men to guard my home while I am at war.”
He ordered before turning around and leaving the camps.
*
It was almost close to sunset when Jin heard horse hooves and clanging armours trampling through the gates of the castle and guards gathered to see what the commotion was about.
It was a scene Jin had not expected to see as he watched palace guards fill in the space and he took a step back, unsure about why they were suddenly here.
“By the order of the King, the North Gate castle is to be evacuated immediately…and take the omega to the palace.”
In the very next instant Jin felt the guards surrounding him “the carriage waits for you prince…please come with us.”
“Wh-What? Wait…what do you mean evacuate?” He felt them crowding him towards the carriage that had the royal seal fluttering above in proud colours “why must I go to the palace? What is going on?”
Although he felt rather confused, the guards weren’t being forceful neither were they dragging him or even touching him and Jin was internally debating if this was a part of some war protocol or was it merely kidnapping but in an official sense?
“Stop!”
Jin heard Ha-yoon’s voice approaching them before she walked up to where the guards had him cornered against the carriage and was ordering him to step in.
“What is the meaning of this?! Now your King is giving orders to kidnap omegas?!”
“Silence! How dare you disrespect the King?!” The guard thundered at her “there has come a message from an informer that Zyon has planned an attack to destroy your home Lady Ha-yoon. Our lord is merely being thoughtful and seeks to provide safety.”
They handed the order to her and set the other guards to check around the place and inform everyone about the message. Jin decided to take this chance to slip out from being cornered and placed himself beside Ha-yoon.
“I understand the threat but I choose to stay at my home…I feel much safer here than I’d feel to be at the palace. Besides, my son would never allow his omega to enter the King’s harem” she scoffed thinking about Jungkook’s unashamed audacity to suggest such a thing “Yushik please show them out”.
“It is an order Lady Ha-yoon…not a proposition…evacuate the castle for your own safety and move-” “And what about all the people who live near the North Gate…your King doesn’t seem very worried about them being attacked?” Jin snapped at the guard as he began realising that the real intention behind the order.
He had thought things had changed by now and surely Jungkook wouldn’t want to capture him now that he had accepted his alpha and was carrying his child! He hadn’t really thought that the King could expect him to be comfortable living among his consorts, that too while he was pregnant and his mate was away in the battlefield. He felt his skin crawl at the thought of being trapped there with no escape, and felt his insides cave as he remembered being molested and almost raped by the alpha when he had gone in heat during the war last time.
Ha-yoon could sense the change in Jin’s scent, and noted how scared he suddenly looked.
“I have already told you the decision…and will appreciate it if you leave in peace.”
“The orders-” “What the hell is going on in here?” The deep voice behind them made goosebumps rise on their skins and the guards seemed to have visibly frozen as they traced the raging anger in the trueblood’s words.
He dismounted his horse to walk towards where his mother and Jin stood, the sight of his mate looking distressed not slipping his gaze.
“Apparently your brother is very worried about your mate’s safety and has asked me to accompany him to the palace” Ha-Yoon handed him the scroll knowing very well how this was going to end because she could see his eyes beginning to glow red.
“You are not to question the King’s orders! Evacuate this place before dawn!”
No sooner had he spoken those words, Taehyung unsheathed his sword.
“Get out of here if you want to live.”
Jin could see there were a dozen of soldiers who now stood on Taehyung’s side, a handful more waiting at the gates and he was slowly beginning to realize that something was up.
“Commander there is information that your home will be attacked, we-” “I have my ways to protect my home and my family…tell him to sit tight on that throne of his to hide from the war and not meddle into what is mine.”
The scroll was flung onto the floor and the trueblood turned towards Jin, the sword still unsheathed in his grip.
“Come with me” his voice was low, the tone of his words almost on the verge of being a command and Jin could sense the alpha’s veiled anger.
He felt a hand wrap around his wrist before Taehyung was guiding him inside. He couldn’t tell if the trueblood was still upset with him or his grim mood was because of the guards he had encountered at the gates or if something else had happened while he was at the palace. Jin was led into the study where Taehyung usually worked and felt a little gnawing bit of concern rise in his mind when he watched him sheathe his sword without a word before he went to the cabinets to grab a bundle of stuff and placed those on the large desk.
“I need you to listen to me and understand everything I say…ask questions if you don’t.”
Jin gazed at the maps he spread out, placing little trinkets all over that looked like flags.
“Red is Kleon’s troops, black is Zyon”
“I see a lot of black…and that’s not very assuring” Jin spoke eyeing the map.
“That’s the reason I am doing this” Taehyung replied making Jin blink up at him “we have our troops spread here” he placed a finger at the Northern Gate “here…as well as here, just in case they plan a surprise attack” he pointed to the Eastern and the Western Gates “and a major chunk will be here” he pointed at the Northern mountains where their home was situated as well “because most of the attacks will occur through the Northern Gate so we have to be ready to withstand heavy attacks.”
Taehyung leaned closer, watching Jin’s eyes growing concerned as he saw him trying to understand the entire plan as well as he could.
“And that puts our home under the threat of being attacked as well”
Jin looked up at him “so the royal guards-” “Yeah, they were not lying but I don’t think you will be very safe in the palace either...my brother happens to be my biggest enemy” Taehyung recounted the obvious with a sigh and a shake of his head.
Well, Jin kinda knew that too “we have too many enemies around” he thought out loud, his gaze uneasy as it moved all over the map.
“You have to promise me something Jin…like really promise me n it’s very very important that you follow it” Taehyung’s gaze was stern on his mate.
“I know…I know…no doing reckless stuff…no taking stupid decisions…no-” “No trusting anyone…not even your instincts” Taehyung’s words were decided as he spoke.
“But the castle might be attacked-” “There’ll be soldiers to take care of that…you are not to take up a sword…if you cannot make me trust your word Jin, I will let my trueblood command you not to step a foot outside the chamber…but I don’t want to do that because I don’t want to make you more upset…I know you don’t like it when I command you.”
Jin fell a little silent, he still debated telling him the plan he had made to give the omegas shelter at the castle knowing if Taehyung was planning to command him to stay trapped in the chamber then there was no way he was gonna be okay with him letting thirty more people come to stay at the castle and give the weapons to defend themselves in case of an attack.
“I am going to be here”
Jin was brought out of his thoughts when he saw the alpha place a finger into the territory of Zyon “that’s the royal palace where King Do-Hwan lives…King’s do not accompany the troops so I have to go to him to kill him”
“That’s not very safe” Jin gulped feeling fear creep into his heart “that’s way into enemy territory…that’s not safe at all Taehyung!”
“Don’t worry…I have done it before…even in Eulan if you remember”
Jin’s eyes moved to look at the alpha “I understand that you are proud of your strength, and take killing as an achievement but I’d appreciate a little more sympathy when you are talking about my father…he might be a mere enemy to you but he was still my father”
“He was an enemy to you too…you just don’t want to accept it, he used you as live bait, knowing what Jungkook wanted to use you for but you still want to be a ‘good son’ I see” Taehyung spoke without even a flinch.
Jin frowned at him “he had no other way to protect his people and noona, my father knew no alpha command would work on me anyway…”
“Are you really standing up for your father who sent you to accept an unconsented bonding? Well…I’m surprised because I remember you almost chewing my head off for marking you without your consent…” Taehyung had a frown as well, his underlying agitations flaring as anger rose in him.
“I-that’s not-so you are trying to defend yourself now?” “Why not…you seem pretty understanding with your father’s brutish ways…although clearly he had treated you way worse than I have!”
“You know what…I am not interested in knowing this anymore…I was having a bad day already and you…you just made it worse” he growled, teeth gritting at how insensitive Taehyung could be at times as he stomped his feet taking a few steps towards the door “such a fucking moron.”
“Did you just curse at me? Stop…I am not done talking to you omega…don’t turn your back on me!”
Jin rolled his eyes turning back at him, choosing not to reply as halted but he could see the shift in Taehyung’s eyes as they turned darker. The alpha walked around the desk to place himself right before his mate while the omega wore a hard face, even when Taehyung grasped at his arm to pull him back to stand at the edge of the desk.
“I said I’m not interested” Jin grumbled again, scent sour with anger.
“And I said I’m not done talking” Taehyung replied placing himself right behind the omega.
The air between them had suddenly taken a very heavy turn, the tension thick as they both began realizing that it was their pent-up frustration that they had been holding against each other for days that had resulted in the abrupt outburst.
“This is the reason omegas are supposed to be disciplined, so that they don’t get so cocky and daring to think they can disrespect their alpha as they please.”
Jin felt him lean into his neck as the words hit against his skin and saw his hands set on the desk on either side of him, the trueblood effectively trapping him with his body as he used his bigger frame to intentionally intimidate him.
“They didn’t teach you that at the monastery, did they? Or did you think that you’re so powerful that no one would ever be able to command over you eh?”
“Master taught me everything there is to know-” “Except how to behave before your alpha…”
Jin could feel something was a little different and guessed that it was probably too late to come clean before the alpha when he felt the alpha set his nose at his neck.
“Your heart runs faster when you lie to me…what are hiding from me omega?”
“N-Nothing…nothing at all”
“Are you sure about that?” The voice grew heavier by his ear “because I don’t remember you telling me anything about why you need weapons for thirty people delivered to you…or why you’re planning something behind my back…at my home…and have the audacity to think that you can hide it from me?!”
He spun the omega around to face him, his nostrils flaring in anger to think the mate he was trying so hard to protect would take such reckless decisions on his own.
“What are you planning Jin? Who do you plan to give those weapons to? And if you think you’d defy my command and join at war, I swear I’ll take it on myself to teach you how to follow your alpha’s commands!!”
Jin flinched at the anger in his voice, feeling the grip on his arms tighten “it’s nothing like that…I only intend to help-” “Help who?!”
“The people” Jin spoke feeling his zeal to stand beside them during the time of their need grow.
“The people are not your responsibility…they are my responsibility…their safety will be ensured by the troops! Your responsibility is to listen to your alpha and ensure the safety of our pup!”
“B-But I can help-” “Then help me!”
Taehyung spoke out of instinct “help me feel assured enough so that I can go on to battle knowing that you’re not sabotaging anything…knowing that you are safe where you should be and not taking stupid decisions on your own like last time when you knocked me out and got both of us in a shit load of trouble!”
Jin gulped seeing him be so utterly pissed but felt offended when Taehyung intentionally pointed out his mistakes.
“There’s no one to provide them security so they said they have to travel to other lands” he wanted the alpha to know that he was trying to actually help and not sabotage anything “it’s dangerous for the women and the omegas to be out on the road during wartime…so I told them they can bring their children along and take shelter here till the war passes.”
The frown still remained but Taehyung listened to Jin as he explained his intentions.
“I need the weapons as back up…if the enemy breaches the borders and we are forced to fight” Jin spoke out his intentions “I am sure I won’t be as capable as I was last time, I already feel so fatigued all the time and I’m not my best most days because of the pregnancy, and I am a lot more scared too than I was last time…this way I can at least provide them the means to protect themselves, if necessary.”
Taehyung watched the omega, eyes holding a cluster of emotions as he thought on the words the omega had just spoken. It was true that wars created an obnoxious amount of helpless people who practically had nowhere to go, those refugees had to survive in the worst conditions, women mostly enslaved, omegas sold, crippled men left to die if they couldn’t work for their daily bread. There was no way for these people to protect themselves anyway because no one stood by their side and there were no laws to help them.
They were as good as dead anyway because they had no place or no one to belong to.
“You want to shelter them?” Taehyung asked not really sure how to respond to it, because although his first instinct would be to say that his home was no shelter for strangers but now that he thought of the frightful plight of these defenceless women and the omegas, he knew he couldn’t just order them to be thrown out to die.
“It’s the least I can do…at least for now” Jin’s voice was resolute in the decision “at least until I can help them to protect themselves and stand up for their own cause, tell that brother of yours’ what an idiot he is.”
A chuckle left Taehyung’s lips till he burst out laughing to hear the arrogance in Jin’s voice, well he wouldn’t agree but he kinda adored it when he saw Jin being arrogant and sassy with others…but it burned his skin to have the omega show off that attitude against him “yeah…it will be fun to watch that” he joked, eyes fondly set on his mates’ as his fingers gently carded through the omega’s soft hair.
“Ok…I get your point but-” his eyes got stern again “promise me, and this is very very important Jin…promise me that you will not take it on yourself to protect them or anyone in the castle except yourself…there will be guards keeping a constant check…so just please…do not try to play the hero…and under no circumstances will you take the decision to release your destructive side, ok?”
Jin nodded slowly.
“Not like that Jin…this is very serious, so be honest and promise me…” Taehyung clasped at his hand, he could feel the omega’s erratic pulse as Jin made the promise.
“I promise”
Taehyung released his clasp on Jin, ready to allow him to leave now if he wanted to.
“But I want you to promise me something as well…”
Taehyung looked down at the omega again, waiting to hear him out.
“Last time you went into a royal palace and killed the King, you almost got killed yourself…and you would have if I hadn’t healed you” Jin spoke, the little gulp of fear as he remembered the event didn’t miss Taehyung’s eye.
“Promise me you’ll take a few more people with you…don’t barge in alone…I’ll be here-I won’t be able to save you-but I’ll know if you get hurt-” Jin’s words turned rushed with worry, his hand inadvertently moving to set on his tummy as he stared at the alpha with anxious eyes “we’ll die too if something happens to you”.
Taehyung was rendered speechless to hear him, he tried to tell himself it was natural instinct of any pregnant omega to fear their mates’ absence, rather every omega feared the loss of its mate but Jin’s brown eyes twinkled with a light he had rarely seen, a sort of fire churned within him to see the worry and fear in those eyes. He couldn’t help but step closer and felt their toes touching, his mates sweet jasmine scent tickling his nostrils making affection pooling within him.
“Omega…you dare sound worried about me after you yelled and cursed at me...?” He smirked, hand coming up to cup his mates’ face as he held Jin’s gaze with his own darker ones.
“I am worried about myself” Jin taunted back at him but the smile proved the truth that lay beyond his words, he could feel all his weariness and discomfort fading as he sensed the alpha releasing calming pheromones to make him feel better.
“Don’t worry kitten” he spoke leaning closer, voice a hush against the shell of Jin’s ear “your alpha won’t die that easily.”
Jin could feel him smile against his skin, lips ghosting over his cheek as the warmth of Taehyung’s breath grazed over his jaw till his mouth was hovering over his.
“I promise to come back to you in one piece, my omega” they shared the breath before the alpha pressed his lips on his mates’ soft mouth, lips slowly moulding against each other till a whine left Jin’s mouth when he felt Taehyung leaning into him, and taking charge as he felt himself being pushed against the desk.
His hands went to grab at Taehyung’s shoulders when he felt the hand on his jaw move to set at the back of his head as the alpha denied to let him break away, tilting his head to a side before his tongue was trying to pry open his mouth and Jin complied.
A growl made the alpha’s chest vibrate and Jin felt Taehyung pushing his entire body against his, his heavy warmth crushing against him from their chests to their thighs. He felt Taehyung rut his hips against him, a tiny choked gasp slipping in between the kiss as Jin felt his alpha’s arousal rubbing against his own privates. His body instantly reacting to his mates as need consumed him.
“Turn around”
Jin opened his eyes when he felt Taehyung break the kiss, only to see red eyes eyeing him like he was a meal waiting to be devoured by a starved beast. He didn’t have to think before he was turning around although he was a little worried about doing what he thought they were going to do in there.
He flinched, biting down a gasp when he felt hands gripping his hips and felt Taehyung’s chest press against his back, his erection pressing against his butt “bend over”
Jin took a look at the desk before him and in slow unsure movements bent down, when he felt a hand on his back guiding him to lower himself further till his face was pressed on the desk, the trinkets scattered and messed as he clutched at the paper to feel himself being exposed to the cold air.
“Pull your leg up” another instruction and Jin followed this one with slow unsure movement as well as he pulled his right leg up. He could hear a groan at his back making his cheeks flush even more red at the thought of Taehyung watching him be so shamelessly bare before his eyes in this position.
“Oh-hck!” He dug his head into the table, or tried to as the map crumpled in his fist while he felt the alpha taking his time to drag his tongue over his puckered rim, sucking and pushing it into him while his mind floated in the haze of desire. Jin began moving his hips, his member needing some friction as he rubbed himself against the table. He whimpered feeling digits entering him, and scissoring him open as the alpha made him go crazy with how good it felt to be touched and adored by him.
“Let alpha take care of you kitten”
Jin heard the words spoken right by his ear to realize Taehyung had pulled his fingers out, he felt the alpha’s body pressing against his back as he slowly slid into him, drawing a long breathy moan from the omega.
It felt like electric coursing through him when Taehyung dipped his face into the crook of his neck and kissed his mark, his body shuddering and jerking against the desk with each thrust.
“Alpha…I-ah…ah…good” he mumbled in incoherent words spaced with broken moans as the alpha kept his pace steady. He felt a tough grip at the back of his thigh while the hand grasping on his hip now grew punishing as his thrusts got erratic, and Jin realized Taehyung was nearing his release, his member growing inside him to stretch him further.
“I..anngh...ah!” His mouth fell open, eyes fluttering as he felt his own body become tense, his thighs trying to squeeze close as he cried out feeling his alpha's swollen member jabbing against his most sensitive spot and within a few minutes his body arched off of the desk, the back of his head pressing against his alpha's shoulder as he came with a pleasured moan, chest heaving.
Jin felt a hand wrap around his neck, not letting his body slump down onto the desk as the alpha nibbled at his neck, his member hot and hard as he continued thrusting inside him, his scent outrageously strong and effectively dominating over his mate's.
Jin's eyes snapped open his whimpers cutting off when he felt Taehyung suddenly pulling out. A heavy moan leaving the alpha as Jin felt him rutting against his ass before he felt warm fluid drenching his skin, some dripping down his puffy rim that was still open and smothered with slick. He felt the alpha still rubbing himself on him while Taehyung's mouth found his and they shared a heated kiss. Their mouths sloshing together, tongue lapping at the other and Jin moaned into the kiss when he feel the alpha's fingers smother the thick fluid over his hole.
Jin opened his eyes to see Taehyung gazing down at him, his jaw stiff and eyes smoky with need still.
“Alpha...” he breathed over his lips “I want you to mark me”
And Taehyung didn't need a second more to think as gripped at the slim neck more tightly as he let his canines sink, tilting the omega's head a little to get a better access as he put his mark on him.
Jin felt his body thrumming with need again, body arching up more as he let the euphoric feeling of being claimed by his alpha reign over him.
“You're mine omega...” Taehyung panted against Jin's ear, his eyes closing as his dominance and possessiveness surfaced “I will let no power take you away from me.”
