>> Chapter 3 <<

"This is it. This is a very big day, tikki. I'm finally gonna do it. I'm gonna ask him!"

"Marinette!" Yelled at deep voice.

"Let down your hair!"

"It's time! Now don't let him see you."Mari said with a smile

"Marinette! I'm not getting any younger down here." He yelled

"Coming, Father!"

She says as she grabs her hair and throws the end out her window and down toward the ground where a dark figure stood waiting.

"Hi, Welcome home, father!"mari says smiling while catching her breath from pulling him up the tower.

"Oh, my darling! How you manage to do that every single day without fail! It looks absolutely exhausting" he said with a look of 'care' in his eyes.

"Oh, it's nothing" She said, still breathing heavily from the long workout

"Then I don't know why it takes so long!"

"Oh, um well I- I"

"Oh! I'm just kidding my darling!"

"Oh, umm heh, Alright, so, father, as you know, tomorrow is a very big day-" mari said as she walked closer to her father. Her hands collapsing together till she was cut off.

"Marinette farher's feeling a little run-down. Would you sing for me, dear?"

"Oh! Yes! Of course, father!" In a whirl marinette turns on her heel and runs to set up her father's chair and her small stool. After placing the two items she grabs Gabriels hand and hurrys him over to his chair and begins.

"Flower, gleam and glow

Let your power shine

Make the clock reverse..."

"-Wait!-"

"Bring back what once was mine"

"W-wait!-"

"Heal what has been hurt

Change the fate's design Save what has been lost Bring back what once was mine"

"Marinette!" Her father said with anger in his voice.

Ignoring him she continued. "So, father, earlier I was saying tomorrow's a pretty big day and you didn't really respond, so I'm just gonna tell you, it's my birthday! Uh. Tada!"

"No, no, no, can't be. I distinctly remember: your birthday was last year" he said as he arises from his seat and begins walking towards the stairs.

"That's the funny thing about birthdays-they're kind of an annual thing!" She said following behind him.

"Uh. Father, I'm turning eighteen, and I wanted to ask, uh, what I really want for this birthday...

Actually what I really want for my birthday is-"

"Marinette. Darling, please, stop with the mumbling. You know how I feel about the mumbling, it's very annoying" he said with a look of annoence and disgust

Mari just stood there, wide eyed and nervous.

"I'm just teasing, you're adorable, I love you so much, darling." Realizing his mistake he then patted her cheek and continued.

Tikki had now come out of her hiding place and nudged Marinettes shoulder for support.

"Agh, I want to see the glowing butterflys!" marinette practically yelled. Garbiel stoped dead in his tracks.

"Uh Wait, What?" Her father said shocked turning around.

"Well, I was hoping you would take me to see the glowing white butterflys." She said twiddling with her fingers letting her haid cover her face slightly.

"Ooh. You mean the stars." He said turning his back to her once more.

"That's the thing.

I've charted stars and they're always constant. but these, they appear every year on my birthday, father and ONLY on my birthday. And I can't help but feel like they're... they're meant for me.

I need to see them, father, and not just from my window. In person.

Ihave to know what they are!" he looks over at her shocked father. The self worry in his eyes as he decided how to respond.

"You want to go outside? Marinette! Ive told you no! And for good reason!"

"I know but"

"You know why we stay up in this tower! to keep you safe darling!"

"Yes but ill be eighteen! I want to see the world!"

"Well Guess I always knew this day was coming. I Knew that you'd want to

Soon leave, but not yet"

"B-but why?" Marinette said confused and hurt. Her hands starting to become weak.

"Trust me. I knows best! Listen to your father! It's scary in the outside world.

"What's so wrong with the world?" She responded feeling intimidated.

"Well. Ruffians, Thugs, poison ivy, quicksand, cannibals, the plague"

"n-no that cant be all that the world is." She interrupted

"Oh but there is more! Large bugs, dangerous men and lots more! But trust me darling! Ill protect you! Remember I know best"

"And" he continued

"And?"

"You arn't fit for the world."

"What?" She said almost offended

"Take it from me. On your own, you won't survive. Sloppy, underdressed, immature, clumsy. You'd be taken advantage of on the spot!"

"Not to mention Gullible and naive. I'm just saying because I love you I'm here to help you. But I do ask one thing of you."

"Yes?" She couldn't meet his eyes. She just continued to look at the bottem of her self made dress.

"Don't ever ask to leave this tower again."

"Y-Yes, father...."

"Good. I love you very much, darling."

"I love you more"

"I love you most." He finishes by kissing marinettes hair line on her head.

"I'll see you in a bit, my darling" he said as she lowered him down the tower.

"I'll be here, like always" mari said as a single tear fell down her soft face and a soft breeze carried her now flowing hair.
