Chapter 7

"Adrien!" Adrien's father called him into his office "I have been meaning to ask you, where did you get your clothes from? They are not the Agreste brand, so who designed and made them?"

"Why do you care Father?" Adrien asked defensively.

"Because they are good, are they fashion designers or what?"

"This is my friend Marinette's work Father. Marinette designed and made them for me," Adrien replied a little relieved, it did not appear he was going to get a lecture about how he was the face of the Agreste brand and he could not wear other peoples clothing ranges.

"Marinette? Which one is she?" his Father mused, suddenly interested in the girl he had dismissed as clumsy, useless and annoying.

"The feather hat designer or the girl who convinced you to let me to go to New York with," Adrine replied hesitantly, with seeing his father's expression.

"Adrien, I want you to bring that girl here this afternoon!" demanded Gabriel seeing an opportunity with Marinette, so he took it.

Adrien went to school worrying about his girlfriend as he never could tell whether or not his father was serious or not.

Marinette seeing Adrien looking worried for the first time in about a month asked "Are you ok Adrien?"

"Oh, hi Marinette," he smiled "I have a favour to ask of you. I know your busy and all but would you mind?"

"Sure Adrien" Marinette smiled "Whatever you need let me know."

Adrien couldn't believe that Marionette just said that to him

"Whatever I need?" He questioned.

Marinette nodded.

Adrien repeated the question this time emphasising the "Whatever" and "I"

It then clicked in the poor girl's brain what he was asking, "Well except that! I can't believe you are even hinting at that!" she blushed furiously thinking to herself Chat would skin her alive if she cheated on him.

"I am sorry Mari; I couldn't help myself. I was just teasing you." Adrien apologised, "What I actually need is for you to come with me and speak with my Father this afternoon."

Marinette's eyes opened wider. "Sure Adrien, do you know what it is about?"

"My guess is he wants to recruit you because of all the clothes you made and Chat delivered,"

"I see" whispered Marinette, immediately worrying about that afternoon. Marinette was a bit flaky that day and went with Adrien back to his home. Adrien seeing his girlfriend's distress put his hand on hers and said "It's ok Marinette... I am sure you'll be great." He wished that he could hug and kiss her as he could as Chat. But his comfort was enough.

Marinette on her part wondered why Adrien at that moment seemed just like Chat, her concern draining away. "Thanks Adrien" she said giving him a weak smile.

"You're welcome Marinette" he said smiling fondly at her "Believe in yourself- you are awesome."

"I don't know about awesome but thanks, I appreciate the sentiment!" Marinette said as she got out of the car as they had arrived at the mansion.

"Come see me when you are finished?" He asked.

Marinette nodded biting her lip in worry.

Adrien couldn't help himself and pulled a Chat move. He cupped her face and kissed her lips. "You will be right Princess!" he said and walked away before he was tempted to do more.

Marinette was stunned. So, stunned she stopped biting  the lip and walked before Gabriel Agreste.

"Ahh, Miss Dupain-Cheng, Welcome. Please sit down"

"Sure" she chatted nervously sitting in the chair provided, instantly forgetting the coincidence between Adrien and Chat that had shocked her.

"Adrien tells me you designed and made all the clothes he has been wearing."

"Yes, I did!"

"Normally, I would have checked the clothes out first, they have all been put in the all for one room. Have you designed other types of clothes?"

Marinette nodded "Yes" she squeaked

"I would like to hire you as a intern when you finish school." He stated "and you will need to complete your fashion degree as well. Is this acceptable to you?"

Marinette nods.

Gabrielle seeing this said "Natalie! Can you do the paperwork for this up?"

Natalie nods and goes to do it up. The paperwork being the standard stuff when you hire an employee.

"We will send you this upon your graduation from school." Gabriel stated "Miss Dupain-Cheng, what do you think of Adrien?"

"Ah he's nice? As a friend of course "

"Hmm, ok," Gabriel thought for a moment "Well that's it dear, go talk to my son."

"Thanks Mr Agreste" Marinette said as she headed to Adrien's room. Adrien's room surprised her. It had the feel of a room rarely used and honestly the only bit that felt used was his study desk which he was at madly studying.

"Hey Adrien " Marinette greeted him.

"Hey Marinette, " he smiled, "how did it go?"

"I was given an internship upon graduating from school."

"That's wonderful! Congratulations, it's what you wanted isn't it?"

Marinette nods. Seeing Adrien diligently doing his homework reminded her she needed to do hers. She had been putting some of it off and knew she would do so again if she went home. "Hey Adrien?"

"Yes Princess?" Adrien said distractedly before realising what he had said.

Marinette chose to ignore it again as she could not believe what she just heard. "Can I stay here with you and do my homework?"

"Sure Marinette!" Adrien said pleased as it meant that he got more time with his girlfriend, not that Marinette knew.

Adrien moved all his books up so two could now sit at the desk. He went and got a second study chair and invited Marinette to sit and study.

Marinette pulled her stuff out and proceeded to tackle the things she had been procrastinating on doing. Adrien glanced over at her working and was horrified to see how far behind she had slipped. He knew that it was his fault for consistently distracting her at night. He just wanted to make out and, him as chat, didn't really allow her the time to study, even when she said she needed to. He loved everything about Marinette and couldn't wait to ask her to marry him, but, he didn't know how. He did know that he needed to ask her parents when Marinette wasn't around, but so far that task had eluded him.

"Wow, Marinette, you're a bit behind. Did you want to study with me for a bit till you catch up? Thursday is out though as I have fencing practice." He asked hoping that she would say, "Yes".

"I'd like that," Marinette replied, "I seem to be constantly distracted at home." Thinking of Chat.

Adrien smiled "I am glad Marinette."
