Marie Barnes is one of the main protagonists of Miraculous Tales. She is a teenage girl from Italy and a student in Miss Mendeleiev's class at Collège Françoise Dupont, and a budding fashion designer who wants to have her own brand one day. She's also Prudence Barnes' younger twin sister. She moved from Italy to Paris after her father managed to get several deals within the French fashion industry. She is currently in a relationship with Damien Valentino.

With the Deer Miraculous, when inhabited by Lella, Marie transforms into the superheroine Bambi, who gains the power of nature and spirituality to stop Le Papillion and his evil organization Pergue.

Marie is a young, passionate, and cheerful girl with an immense love for fashion. Those who grew up with her would say she's rather strong-willed, persevering with her kind nature and optimism for so long even with what life has given her. She is known for being very hardworking, whether it be for school or a personal fashion project that she's doing.

Marie deeply cares about the people in her life, especially her twin sister Prudence due to their short time with their biological parents. She is not afraid to defend her friends against those who try to harm them, especially the case with Adrien when he was unable to stand up to his father.

Despite her cheerful disposition, Marie does struggle with a lack of confidence mainly regarding her appearance. She grew up with kids her age teasing her about her unnatural white hair. While yes, she isn't as affected by comments like that currently, there's still a part of her that is not too fond of her hair. Later, she grows to love her hair much more on she arrives in Paris.

Marie does have a rebellious side, as evident in her assistance in sneaking Adrien away from his father's very overprotective eye whether he's Adrien or Chat Noir. She isn't one to just sit down and do nothing because the rules are preventing her to. She isn't afraid to break the rules, or at the very least bend them a little bit, sometimes. Marie is also known to swap places with Prudence in some scenarios, like if one of them was going to fail a class when they were younger.

She is also very much shyer and more awkward than her sister. This is mainly shown whenever she is ever asked to model for a photoshoot, something she is not comfortable in doing. In fact, being in the spotlight outside of class presentations makes her a tad nervous.

Since she became Bambi, Marie has grown in confidence and developed characteristically. She becomes much more self-assured, self-confident, & headstrong due to her time as Bambi.

As Bambi, she is a beautiful combination of herself and her alter ego. She is still very innocent and kind to a fault, but she also displays her inner strength, bravery, and wit much clearer being Bambi. She is said to be as graceful as Lady Swan in battle. Bambi is as headstrong and decisive as Marie, willing to go great lengths to protect the people pf Paris. She is known to be a rather quick thinker and displays her intelligence in many ways, such as forming plans that help the team in battles.

Marie was born to two Korean-born parents after Prudence. Her parents were riddled with debt and owed millions of euros to the Valentino Family. In order to be rid of their debt, they asked the Valentinos if they could trade their twin newly born daughters and in exchange, their debts would be clear.

Ginerva Valentino, the matriarch of the Valentinos, reluctantly accepted the deal because she had a feeling that they would find some other ways to get rid of their twin daughters. It didn't take long for Marie's biological parents to leave the country once the deal was finalized.

Not wanting to just pawn the twins off, much like their parents, Ginerva asked if her close friend Duke Barnes would want to adopt the twin sisters. Duke quickly agreed to adopt them, making Marie and Prudence the adopted daughters of Italian fashion designer Duke Barnes.

Duke loved and cared for Marie and Prudence like they were his own children. Theodore, Duke's oldest son, very much loved his new sisters and became very overprotective of them, especially Marie as they got older. Marie grew up close to the Valentino siblings as well as Adrien and the Bourgeois twin sisters whenever her father would go to Paris.

♡ AS A CIVILIAN ♡

Marie has exceptional talent in fashion design and can sketch ideas in a notebook after getting inspired by her surroundings. She mainly makes clothing for herself, her family, and Damien. Her skills in this field are exceptional for an amateur, and many fashion professionals and critics praise her for her work during her old school's student fashion show. Plus, she is very skilled in crochet, one of her specialties. Marie even started a fashion designer website before moving to Paris to showcase her designs, she's even thinking about fashion commissions.

Marie is an excellent cook and baker, knowing both modern and traditional approaches and techniques to both skills. Not only that, but Marie learned how to cook various recipes from different cultures thanks to the constant traveling she did since she was young. Thanks to her time in Italy and the foreign language classes she took, she can speak fluent Italian, Korean, & French while currently learning Japanese.

Despite being looked down on compared to Prudence and being called ditzy in comparison, Marie is a very intelligent girl, having an A-B average since childhood.

♡ AS BAMBI ♡

Bambi has much more enhanced physical abilities, like superhuman speed and agility. These abilities allow her to react to and evade light-based attacks and jump and leap several times her height and length. Her speed and agility can be compared to that of the holders of the Rabbit Miraculous, matching them sometimes.

Like a deer, Bambi has enhanced senses such as hearing, smell, and night vision, which she can use to find opponents. Also like a deer, she has incredible reflexes, which allows her to react faster to attacks than most superheroes.

Bambi, using her wand, can cast spells and she uses these spells are all-round, meaning they work on the offensive, defensive, and support in battle. Among her spells, Bambi can summon many different creations or change anything she wants with her wand just by saying spells and pointing it. Bambi can also transform her wand into other things, like a broom or an umbrella.

Having the power of nature, Bambi can use nature magic, a specialty of hers. This allows her to draw upon the physical forces of the natural world and use them as spells. That includes controlling the natural elements of her will, even communicating with nature itself. One of her spells even allows her to utilize sunlight to heal herself, her teammates, and civilians.

With the power of spirituality, Bambi can see and communicate with spirits and ghosts. These spirits and ghosts mainly assist Bambi in locating the enemy or figuring out their weaknesses. The ghosts are able to possess Bambi, but they only do so if she allows them to. Because this is a power that is always activated, Bambi would be able to still see and communicate with spirits and ghosts even as Marie.

♡ Bambi's legacy is as old as the Iron Era.

♡ Her responsibilities as a superhero not only include fighting akumatized Pergue but also patrolling the city, sending updates about any attacks nearby, among other things.

♡ Marie doesn't appear to have as many issues juggling his normal life with his superhero work as those like Marinette and Prudence do. However, she does struggle on occasion, such as being almost late for morning classes because she slept through her alarm.
