~Fifth Month~
It's a boy!
Winter had come and gone, and it was now spring already. Since the Gender Reveal, Marinette became more and more excited about being a mother for the first time, and would often be seen somewhere in the house, talking to her stomach with a loving expression on her face. Her belly was beginning to increase in size even more, and she could often feel the baby moving inside her.
The first time Marinette had felt the baby moving, she was so surprised that she gave an ear-piercing shriek that led to Adrien falling off the couch in fright and kwamis to come rushing. Upon seeing Marinette's expression of absolute delight, Adrien relaxed, "Jesus, Bugaboo don't do that! You're going to give me a heart attack!"
"Sorry!" Marinette apologised. "But I just felt the baby kick me! You'd be screaming if you'd suddenly felt Hugo move too! It makes it so much more real! I mean, obviously I know there was a baby growing inside me, but I don't think it really hit me until this point. All of the morning sickness could've just been a really bad bug or something, but this! Woah Kitty, I don't know how to explain it to you, I'm just so happy!" said Marinette, her Bluebell eyes seeming to sparkle with happiness, a huge smile on her face as the Tikki and Plagg nestled themselves on Marinette's stomach. Adrien hadn't seen her look this happy since the day of their wedding.
"That's awesome Bug! But uh, we only found it we were having a boy a few days ago and you've already thought of a name?" said Adrien with a grin, knowing very well about the story related to this.
Marinette blushed then laughed and said. "Well, you know I'd already had a few names in my head for if it was a boy or a girl anyway. Now that I'm pregnant, all I do is sit at home all day while you handle the company, so it gives me a lot of free time, you know!"
"Hugo Thomas Agreste." Marinette murmured. "It sounds nice, doesn't it kitty?" she giggled as Adrien gently placing a hand on Marinette's belly. "You know, I like the sound of that M'Lady." He grinned at Marinette and continued "Hello, little Hugo Agreste. I'm your daddy Adrien, only the most handsome and ameowzing man in the whole of Paris!"
"Adrien!" Marinette scolded. "Please! There's no need for Hugo to hear his wonderful father's awful puns! But his mother on the other hand..." Marinette lowered her eyes to her belly, and placing a hand next to Adrien's, said in a tone much gentler than the one she had just used with Adrien, "Hey there little guy. I'm your mommy Marinette, and don't listen to what daddy just told you, he likes to think that." Marinette grinned at Adrien, "But when you grow up, you're going to be even more handsome and amazing than daddy, What do you think, Hugo?"
They continued talking to Hugo. Before Marinette got up from the couch.
"Where are you going Bug?" Adrien asked confused
"Oh just to the bathroom." Marinette replied
"Again? But you went an hour ago!" Adrien said looking surprising
Marinette sighed "I know, I can't help it."
"It's because of the kitten that Pigtails needs to go all the time; the bigger he grows, the more pressure he's putting on her bladder." Plagg said, as if everyone in the world should know this. Marinette and Adrien looked at him in astonishment, while Tikki just giggled. Since when was Plagg such an expert on pregnant women?
"What?" asked the tiny God of Destruction, noticing Marinette and Adrien's expression. "I have been around for Billions of years, you know." Tikki couldn't help it and started laughing loudly soon everyone except Plagg started laughing.
"Hey, hey, hey, stop laughing you three! Now if you will excuse me I have a date with my sweet Camembert." Plagg sighed happily and flew of to get some Camembert, followed by Tikki who flew to get some sweets for herself.
"I have to go to" said Marinette as she half ran towards the washroom while Adrien leaned back on the couch sighing happily.
Life was good.

~Sixth Month~
Marinette was now two-thirds of the way through her pregnancy, and her body was growing more and more rapidly to accustom little Hugo's development. Talking to Hugo became a daily ritual, one that she and Adrien enjoyed very much, it was as if the two of them were already fighting to be the better parent. Hugo was moving about in Marinette's stomach quite frequently now, and only a few days ago, Adrien had actually felt him kick for the first time...
Adrien had his hand on Marinette's belly, marvelling at how big it had become in the past few weeks. He was going to be a dad soon! Adrien was so excited at the prospect of becoming a father, they were going to have a son! A part of both him and Marinette! A living breathing being, created by their love. Adrien's heart swelled with happiness and his love for his Lady grew even more everyday!
Marinette smiled at Adrien. "Daydreaming again, are we kitty?" she said teasingly. She knew that Adrien was just as excited as she was about becoming parents, perhaps even more excited. Marinette had to admit, she was a little disappointed that she wasn't having a girl that she could dress up all the time, but she was pretty sure she was going to be as doting a parent as Adrien. And perhaps maybe next time they will have a little girl... well maybe...
Adrien gave her one of those gorgeous, heart stopping smiles, the smile which made her fall in love with her kitty all over again. "Yeah! I'm just so excited about becoming a dad!"
Marinette laughed, and felt the baby kick her stomach. Adrien's eyes widened. "Did he just kick you?" Marinette nodded. " Oh My God! I just felt my son's first ever kick! Wooohoooo!" shouted Adrien in absolute delight, picking Marinette up in his arms and spinning her around.
"Adrien! Please! Be careful! " Marinette laughed as Adrien gingerly placed her back on the couch.
"Sorry Bug! The excitement went to my head!" Adrien said as he hugged her, with her kitty's strong arms around her, Marinette felt unstoppable. As long as they were together, they could do anything.

~Seventh Month~
Nothing compared to the changes in Marinette's body during the seventh month of her pregnancy. As Hugo was getting bigger, she began to develop severe back pains as a result of the extra weight she was carrying, and her joints were beginning to loosen. At the last check up, in which the Doctor told the proud parents that everything seemed to be normal, she also told them that the baby could now hear their voices properly, as well as sounds surrounding the mother.
Although it was not yet summer, Marinette was already beginning to sweat and feel hot a lot of the time, even when it was cool. The Doctor had said this was because her metabolism was intensifying, but Marinette wasn't sure she knew what that meant. All that she knew that she was breaking out in sweats; it never seemed cool enough anymore. As she was already now on maternity leave, Marinette was home all day, and this did nothing to improve her mood. Luckily for her, Adrien was able to return home from work relatively early each day, and Alya, Nino and their other friends from Highschool and work often popped by to keep her company, so Marinette was never really alone.
She looked forward to meeting with her friends, especially Alya, who just finished the first Trimester of her own pregnancy and most importantly understood her better than anyone else (Sorry Adrien) right now.
The dreams that Marinette started having were all to do with Hugo or having childbirth. No matter how much she looking forward to finally see Hugo, childbirth was something she was excited about. She only hoped that Hugo wouldn't give her too hard a time and drag out the process for too long. Often, the dreams were very vivid, including last night's, which involved painful contractions for twelve hours, and then another two hours to actually give birth. Adrien, on the other hand, was starting to become slightly paranoid, as because of the dreams Marinette told him, was half expecting her water to suddenly break, even though the due date wasn't for another two months.
Due to the ever growing belly, Marinette felt that she was becoming more and more clumsy, as her centre of gravity had shifted to accommodate the weight of both her and Hugo. She often found herself knocking things over by accident, and it was at times like this that Marinette started reminiscing about her clumsy, Highschool self and how being Ladybug changed her. The swelling stomach meant Marinette couldn't see her feet anymore, and she was now prone to waddling instead of walking....
Marinette wasn't sure when it happened, but when she got out bed and stood up one day, she realised something.
She could no longer see her feet.
Unsure if it was perhaps the angle she was standing at, she shifted so she was standing upright, and looked down.
Nope, still couldn't see her feet.
It was then that she realised just how big she was getting. For all her life, Marinette had been petite. She had curves in all the right places, most of it might have to do with running around rooftops fighting Supervillans but she didn't have the baby fat that some of the girls did. So even though she knew she was gaining weight because of Hugo, she still couldn't help worry about the way she looked. Marinette shook her head to clear her thoughts. She was a married woman for God's sake! And Adrien would love her, even if she turned out to be the size of Pumpkin.
Marinette sighed and closed her eyes. The back aches were killing her. Then suddenly...
"Hey Bug," asked Adrien softly, "You awake?"
"Yeah, I am." Marinette replied, and winced as she turned to her side in an attempt to relieve some of the pain in her back.
Adrien noticed the pain in Marinette's face and said to her, "Turn around."
"What?" said Marinette confusion.
"Turn around." Adrien repeated. "So your back is facing me."
"Why?" Marinette seemed capable of short sentences today, Adrien noticed.
"So I can give you a back massage, that's why!" said Adrien half exasperatedly, God his pregnant Lady was so difficult sometimes.
"Oh. Ok then." Marinette replied, gingerly turning away from him.
"This would work better if you could lie on your belly, but since that's not the greatest thing to do now, this will have to do." Adrien said. He started by applying pressure to both sides of Marinette's spine simultaneously, beginning at her lower back, and kneading gently up to her neck. He could feel her body relaxing already; there was a lot of tension that had being built up. He then slid his palms in opposite directions towards the sides of her back, up her back towards her shoulders. Kneading the fleshy area at the top of her shoulders and mid-back, Adrien could feel Marinette's muscles beginning to loosen, and she sighed in contentment.
"Thanks Kitty cat, you don't know how good that feels. I've been feeling like an old woman all day with these back pains." Marinette said.
Adrien grinned at her whilst using his thumbs to apply more pressure to the tighter areas in her back. "Anything for you Bugaboo, I can't even imagine what you've been through these last few months. First all those months of morning sicknesses, then your mood swings and food cravings, and lately those dreams. And oh, who could forget the constant need to pee."
Marinette laughed. "You know it's not my fault silly kitty! Blame it on Hugo, if you must!"
Adrien looked at Marinette in what was supposedly a disapproving way. "Don't try and blame someone else, Mrs. Agreste. It's your own fault you have such a weak bladder." He said to her teasingly.
Marinette gave him her sternest look, and sat up again, and waddled her way to the bathroom. Talk about bad timing. Adrien started to laugh as soon as she stood up, realizing where she was heading for.
"What did I tell you M'Lady, what did I tell you?"

~Eighth Month~
Summer was just a month away, and Marinette couldn't wait to see Hugo at last. She had accepted the fact that she wasn't going to be able to walk normally until the baby was born, and did the best she could by waddling. Marinette found that she got tired very easily nowadays, and the back aches seemed to be getting worse, but luckily, Adrien was there to give her a massage whenever she wanted.
Marinette felt that she was slowly becoming nocturnal. During the day, all she ever wanted to do was sleep, and at night she couldn't seem to fall asleep at all! It was irritating, she knew, but if it meant that Hugo was growing stronger and stronger, then Marinette was willing to sacrifice her own sleeping habits. She was now also beginning to feel 'false contractions', which was just the muscles making themselves stronger, for when she would give birth next month. The Doctor told her it was completely normal.
Next month, Marinette thought excitedly. After so many months, she was finally going to be able to see Hugo! Her son! Marinette often thought about how Hugo would look like, Would he have her hair colour or Adrien's? Emerald eyes or Bluebell eyes? Slowly, Marinette made her way to the baby's room. She and Adrien had finally finished decorating it a few days ago, despite the many arguments over how the room should look...
"Red with Black spots, just like his mother!" Adrien said, jumping up and down in excitement.
"Adrien! Calm down! You're acting like a little boy." Marinette laughed. "I don't know kitty, I was thinking maybe a Black with Green paws?"
"What?" asked Adrien, wrinkling his nose in confusion. "Why would you want that?"
"Well, Green because it reminds me of your eyes." Marinette said, who honestly thought that red and black was a bit too much for Hugo. And besides, she read in a book somewhere that red walls make you hungry. She didn't want Hugo to be hungry all the time!
"Fine. Why don't we paint the ceiling Green and the walls red and black?" Adrien suggested cheerfully. If his lady wanted it, maybe they should compromise.
"Adrien, if anything, it should be the ceiling that's painted red and black, and the walls green." Marinette said. Why were they disagreeing over what colour to paint the walls? Seriously.
In the end, they decided not to paint the walls green or red and black, but a soft blue colour. Adrien agreed, besides the walls will resemble his Lady's bluebells eyes. So in the end, they agreed to a soft blue. Marinette liked it because of it's simplicity, and Adrien liked it because it was closest to the colour of his lady's eyes.
Although she wasn't hungry, Marinette made her way to the kitchen for some food, knowing she needed the energy not only for her own body, but for Hugo too. Not surprisingly, she found Plagg in the kitchen, no doubt eating Camembert.
"Hey Pigtails, how is Hugo?" Plagg asked in between the bites of his cheese.
Marinette smiled and said. " He is fine, but I can't wait! Right now, I'm feeling tired and sweaty all the time."
"Have you been drinking enough water?" Plagg asked. "It's one of the reasons why you're tired, because you're dehydrated."
Marinette stared at Plagg in shock. She still couldn't get used to the fact that Plagg knew all of this. Maybe there really was something he was experienced at...
Plagg chuckled. "I know what you're thinking Pigtails, and yes I have experience."
"Well, since you gave me such good advice Plagg, you can ask for anything you want." Marinette said.
"Oh, oh I know, I really want a baked Camembert, thank you Pigtails."
"My pleasure Plagg."

~Ninth Month~
Now in the last month of her pregnancy, Marinette was getting very nervous, and became restless a lot of the time. She would spend hours cleaning the house over and over again, and stocking up on food for Hugo. Adrien was terrified that Marinette was going to wear herself out, but every time he suggested that she rest, she would snap at him, muttering that he wasn't the one about to have the baby, the least he could do was be quiet.
Adrien was a little scared of the angry Marinette, he could take it when she had a sudden burst of anger, but this was different. She seemed to be in a bad mood all the time. Now that summer had indeed arrived, Adrien wished that time would pass by more slowly; he was having fears about being a father. Sure, he was excited that the 'normal' Marinette would be back, but what about everything else? Could he handle being a father?
Marinette too, had fears of her own, feeling on the verge of tears all the time now. What if she didn't realise when her water was breaking? What if Hugo was born without an arm or a leg? What if he had some sort of disease that the Doctor hadn't detected? So many what ifs, Marinette thought to herself as she tried to fall asleep. It was difficult finding a comfortable position with such a large belly, and even when she did fall asleep, all she could think about was the baby.
July 17
As each day progressed, Marinette became more and more worried, and her mood swings came back again. So on the particular morning of July 17, Adrien decided that Marinette needed some cheering up. Not only that, they needed to de-stress too! A rooftop run was out of question. So, being the creative guy he was, he invited Alya and Nino for a sleepover.
The evening was going quite well... well as well it could with two Pregnant and hormonal women in the house.
Soon, they decided to play a game. The opposite's game, where they took turns asking each other questions, and had to answer the opposite of what was actually true. The person who answered the most questions without a mistake would win a whole box of Cupcakes from Tom and Sabine's Bakery.
"Okay okay, me first!" Nino said happily. He had a feeling they were going to have heaps of fun today, and no angry Alya or Marinette!
"Hey dudette, you know, I'm surprised your water hasn't broken yet. Your due date was two days ago, don't you think something would've happened by now? Has your water broken yet?" Nino asked.
Suddenly, Marinette gave a loud gasp as she felt a popping sensation. "Yes! I think it just broke!"
Nino laughed. "Okay, that means it hasn't broken yet, right? Okay Alya, next question for you! What-"
"No, I'm serious, I think my water just broke!" Marinette said.
Nino sighed. "Dudette, wait your turn."
Marinette gave an impatient sigh, and Nino looked at her, then at Alya, who glared at him. And then...
"You're serious, aren't you?" he finally said.
"YES! Now who is going to take me to the hospital before I deliver the baby right here!" Marinette screamed.
Adrien, Alya and Nino looked at each other.
And then...
All hell broke loose.
A five month pregnant Alya stood up and gathered the things that Marinette would need at the hospital, while Adrien gently helped Marinette to stand up so they could get to the car and Nino ran out to get the car out of the driveway.
Soon with all the things and everyone in the car, Nino started driving to the hospital.
"Excuse me! My wife is having a baby!" Adrien yelled as they arrived. Marinette was wincing; her contractions had already started. Oh god, this was really happening now, wasn't it?
Two doctors and a nurse came and helped Marinette onto a hospital bed, and looked at Adrien. "Will you be accompanying her?"
"Yes! Of course!" Adrien said. He wasn't going to miss this for the world.
The nurse nodded. "Come with me please, you'll need to change."
Adrien looked at Nino. "Bro, can you call our friends and family and take care of Alya, she must be exhausted."
Nino nodded, "Sure Dude, good luck!"
Behind him Alya also gave a thumbs up "Good luck, sunshine!"
"Thanks!" Adrien yelled as he disappeared down a hall with the nurse where Marinette had already been wheeled in.
Marinette screamed as another contraction came. She was holding onto Adrien's hand so tightly he thought his fingers would fall off. Where was it all coming from? Did she secretly transform into Ladybug in her civilian form?
Just then the doctor walked in and smiled at the couple.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Agreste. Your baby is ready to see the world now," She said with a gentle smile.
●■●■●■●■●■●■●■●
"Come on Marinette, one more push!" the doctor encouraged.
"I'M-TRYING," Marinette grunted, her forehead sweaty and face flushed.
"Anytime now," the doctor said.
Marinette screamed so loudly Adrien wished he had bought a pair of earplugs. "ADRIEN AGRESTE! YOU ARE GOING TO PAY! DON'T JUST STAND THERE LOOKING HORRIFIED, IT'S NOT HELPING ME! AT LEAST SAY SOMETHING TO DISTRACT ME!"
Adrien winced as she squeezed his hand even harder. "Okay M'lady, you can do this, just push a little harder, and you'll be able to see Hugo. You're going to be a mother Mari, just PUSH!" Adrien screamed too as Marinette pushed as hard as she could, squeezing his hand until his fingers had started to turn purple. His words seemed to have encouraged her, and she gave one last push, and her cry collied with the baby's cry.
Soon, the doctor told them, "It's over! Congratulations, you have a baby boy!"
Marinette lay back in her pillows, exhausted. That was definitely the most difficult thing she'd ever done in her life. Slowly, she loosened her grip on Adrien's hand. She was terrified to see that his turned into a nasty shade of purple.
"Did I do that?" she asked Adrien in dismay. When he nodded, Marinette looked like she was about to burst into tears. "Oh kitty, I'm so sorry, I couldn't help it. The pain..."
Adrien pressed a light kiss on her sweaty temple. "Shh, it's ok M'Lady, my hand hasn't been through even half of what you've been through these last nine months. I'm sure it'll heal in no time."
The nurse walked in, carrying Hugo in a little bundle.
"Mrs. Agreste? Here's your little baby."
Carefully, Marinette held her arms out to hold Hugo, smiling at the little bundle that was her son.
As soon as she saw Hugo, she felt that she was seeing her male reflection. Hugo looked exactly like her except the face cut which was similar to Adrien's, God, even his eyes matched hers and she found herself staring into bluebell orbs that looked exactly like her own.
"Wow." Adrien breathed excited. "He's got your hair and eyes but my face cut!" Adrien smiled at Marinette. "We're parents now, can you believe that Bugaboo?"
Marinette smiled. "We are, aren't we kitty?"
And so they were. 9 months later, Marinette and Adrien Agreste were proud parents of Hugo Thomas Agreste.
