Adrien raced into the school with only one minute until the bell rang. He hoped he wasn't late, he couldn't risk his father finding out. When he skidded around the corner, he rammed right into someone and they crashed to the ground.
"Hey!" She snapped. Adrien blinked and realized he ran into Marinette. "I'm so sorry!" He apologized. "Are you hurt?" Marinette gasped when she saw who it was. "H-hey, I-yeah, no. No, I'm okay," she stuttered.
"Are you sure?"
"Y-yeah, I just wasn't looking where I was going," she assured, keeping her eyes fixed up onto his green ones. His heartwarming gaze gave her butterflies. "I'm great, actually." She was unaware that she was still on the floor. Adrien put a hand to his chest and sighed in relief. "Oh, thank goodness." He lent her a hand to help her up. Electricity shot up her fingers when they made contact.
When he pulled her up, Marinette's clumsy self suddenly slipped and took him tumbling down with her this time. Adrien broke his fall, but nevertheless, still found himself face to face with her.
Oh my god, he's on top of me, oh my god oh my god I love you I love you
"Hi, again," she beamed as she gave him a little wave. What was that?! I just made things so much weirder, oh my- "S-sorry," he stammered. He sheepishly smiled as they scrambled back to their feet, but Marinette stepped on his shoelace. He took a step back and staggered before losing his balance. The two stumbled down to the floor again.
Adrien grunted when he felt something hard land on his chest. His eyes grew big when he realized it was Marinette's head. His face instantly grew warm. She lifted her head and almost had a panic attack when she felt his soft breath against her cheek.
"Ha. This is awkward. N-not you're awkward but just because we're--I'm awkward, you're gorgeous-wait, what?" She froze when she realized what she said. Adrien's eyes got even bigger. After he helped her up again, he awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck.
"I apologize for running into you...and for every moment after," he shyly said while avoiding her stare. Marinette's face caught fire. It was so hot she couldn't even feel her cheeks. "No, n-no, it's fine! 'Cause you know-" The bell signaling the start of class began to ring. "The bell-the class, I-I-I better go! I have to...I better go. B-bye!"
Marinette waved again then scurried down hall. Adrien awkwardly stood there alone until he remembered he had to be somewhere. Crap! I'm late! He anxiously ran after her to class.
....................
Other than Chloe's desperate attempts to swoon Adrien, school went pretty well. As Marinette quickly shoved her schoolwork into her bag, Alya gave her a sneaky grin. "So?" She asked. Marinette raised her eyebrows at her best friend. "What?" "Are you gonna tell him?? It's Valentine's Day, girl!"
Marinette sighed. "I don't know. It didn't even work out last year and I already made a complete fool of myself in front of him this morning, I'll never be able to face him again!" She groaned. She quickly spilled Alya the story that happened earlier.
"Just ask if he wants to hang out," Léa chimed in. Marinette jumped. She didn't even know she was still there. "W-what are you talking about?" She nervously laughed. Léa smiled and she shook her head.
"It's obvious you're head over heels for him. Don't worry, I won't tell. But seriously, if you don't want to confess, you don't have to right now. And if he's weirded out because it's Valentine's Day, just act like you forgot. Easy peasy."
"See? That doesn't sound so bad does it?" Alya agreed. "Now, go!"
"But-"
"Go!" Léa and Alya urged. Marinette bit her lip as she watched Adrien exit the room alone, until a certain brunette trailed him out the door. Marinette instantly felt a pang of jealousy. What's that fox up to now? Without another word, she followed her.
For a while, she got lost in the empty halls until she heard someone talking outside. Marinette slipped behind the staircase and peaked above the railing. It looked like Lila and Adrien were having an intense conversation. She couldn't help but eavesdrop.
"-And I wouldn't blame you, Adrien. But what you should know is that I only made those things up because I was insecure. I really liked you and I wanted you to like me too. I still like you," she admitted. Lila gave him a sweet smile. "Will you forgive me?"
Adrien paused to take her words in. "I forgive you." Lila sighed with relief and playfully poked him in the chest, causing him to recoil from her a little. "I knew you'd get it, thank you, Adrien, I-"
"But you must understand," he added. He took a deep breath and glanced around. Marinette ducked in the nick of time and continued to listen.
"My heart already belongs to someone else, Lila."
Marinette let out a loud gasp and clutched her chest. Adrien and Lila looked around for a moment trying to locate the sound. The corner of Lila's mouth twitched. "Ah, I see." Her voice wavered. She squeezed her hand at her side into a fist. "Well...Happy Valentines Day." She faked a smile before walking away.
Adrien pressed his lips together. I hope I didn't hurt her feelings... His ride had arrived, so he made his way to the car and left.
Marinette tried to hold back a sob. She was at a loss for words. Adrien already liked someone else. Her Adrien. She was in shock more than anything. She couldn't even breathe right, it felt like a knife stabbed her in the chest. She was too scared to move in fear of coming to terms with things. She couldn't accept it. Her ears had to of deceived her.
This feeling is too awful, I MUST be dreaming...it can't be true...
......................
Marinette exhaled a shaky breath at her balcony. It was a very sunny day, and it was unusually warm for this time of year. Though her eyes remained dry, her heart throbbed. She was still in shock. She suddenly squeezed her eyes shut.
I can't accept it. I won't.
"Tikki, spots on."
The cool breeze blew her bangs out of her face as she silently sailed through the air from her yo-yo. It's Valentines Day- there's bound to be an Akuma somewhere. Looks like it's just another day of work, she thought. As if reading her thoughts, an icy gust of wind countered her and threw her off.
Ladybug let out a cry as she lost her grip and hurtled toward the ground. A pair of arms caught her with ease. "Falling for me already, bugaboo? I'm flattered." She tilted her head up to see a familiar feline friend grinning down at her.
Chat Noir carefully let her down and kissed her hand. "Happy Valentine's Day, m'lady." Ladybug gave him a curt nod. Her blank expression had him bewildered. "Are you feeling okay? You don't seem yourself." Her hand curled back a little. "I could be better," she replied.
"If something happened, I'm all ears," he offered. Snowflakes floated down from the sky and frost suspiciously climbed up the buildings around them. "Maybe later. Right now, we have an Akuma to catch." Sudden cries came from further down the avenue. When they got a closer look, they saw a girl striking people with blows of ice. She had a messy, French braid draped down the front of her shoulder, and wore a pale blue, glittery dress that went to her feet. Ladybug squinted.
"Lila?"
Chat Noir swallowed. This is all my fault. Lila spun around and threateningly held up a hand. "It's Frostbite, now," she answered coldly. "Give me your miraculous, and Paris will be spared."
"Never!" She revoked.
"Then no one shall ever be able to feel again." Frostbite struck a passerby with her icy powers. Their gaze hardened and their face became emotionless. She swirled a snowy tornado up with her forefinger and shot it into the sky. The winds immediately became stronger and tiny bits of hail flew down from the sky. The sun was well hidden behind the storm clouds.
Chat Noir and Ladybug charged and kept trying to dodge Frostbite's icy blasts. It wasn't too hard to get close to her, that is, until she coated the whole street in black ice with a single swipe. "Whoa!" Chat cried as he flailed his arms. He and Ladybug frantically grabbed each other for balance, but they only took each other down.
The two slid into a snow bank on top of each other. Chat shook the snow out of his messy hair and smiled down at Ladybug. "My, my, the snuggle is real," he teased. For a moment he thought he made her blush, then he realized her cheeks were just red from the cold. She pursed her lips and pouted a little.
Chat Noir scratched his head and gave her a flustered smile before helping her up. They dusted the snow off their suits. Ladybug spotted a certain someone ducking behind some wooden crates with a phone peeking out at them.
"Alya!" She scolded. "It's dangerous, get indoors immediately-"
Heavy drafts of snow flew past them and struck a huge mound of snow. Chat Noir tensed when a giant made of snow rose from the pile. It looked down upon them menacingly. "Get them!" Frostbite demanded. The giant let out a loud roar that blew the hair right out of the superheroes' faces. Chat Noir scrunched up his face and put a hand to his chest, clearly offended.
"Not cool, bro, you need to chill out!" He scoffed. When the giant took its first step, the entire street shook. Ladybug and Chat cautiously backed away. Little did they know, Alya had ended up behind their new foe, gawking at the scene with her phone filming. The giant was the first to see her.
Alya screamed when it took its focus off of them and snatched her. She was violently thrown at them and flew threw the air. Ladybug gasped in terror and hastily whipped out her yoyo to catch her. Luckily, she was able to throw up a web of string from her yoyo between two lampposts in time.
Her bff bounced off of it safely into a snowbank. Ladybug wildly spun around and glowered at the huge snowman. Chat could feel the anger radiating from her, and in all honesty, he had never been so scared. "It is not nice to throw people!!" She yelled. They hadn't come up with a good plan and still weren't sure what they were up against. Chat didn't want her to do anything rash resulting from her anger.
He tightly bound her close to him as she struggled to break free. "What are you-let me go!"
"Whoa whoa whoa whoa, okay relax, m'lady! Calm down, just calm down!" He quickly said. "Okay, alright! I'm okay!" She snapped.
"Just let the snowman be."
"I'm calm," she reassured while composing herself. Chat Noir loosened his hold on her. "Great-"
"RAHHHHH!!" She shoved Chat out of her way as she violently zipped out her yoyo. It sailed straight toward the snow beast and harmlessly tapped its body, then clinked to the ground. It stared at them with its two hollowed out holes for eyes. It finally held out its arms and bellowed twice as loud as the first time. Icicles popped down its back and out of its hands to create pointy claws.
"See? Now you just made him mad!" Chat chided. "In the mean time, let's get out of here!"
The roads weren't an option because of how slippery they were, so they escaped to the rooftops. Unfortunately, the scary snowman could climb too. The two ended up arriving uptown, then Ladybug got an idea.
"Follow me."
Chat Noir followed her into a modern skyscraper. Just when the snow monster smashed through the glass double doors, the elevator doors were shutting in front of Ladybug and Chat. That usual, awkward kind of elevator music started playing. Chat slowly tapped his foot to the beat.
"Meow."
Chat nearly jumped out of his skin. He looked down to see a gray cat with fancy collar rubbing against his legs. "Where did he come from?" He panicked.
"Don't be a scaredy cat, it's only a wandering kitty," Ladybug sighed. "Oh, um, of course I'm not," he nervously laughed. "Just being cautious." Ladybug rolled her eyes. Chat picked up the cat and held it in confusion. "How'd it even get here? This is a company enterprise. There shouldn't be pets allowed," he wondered.
"Why not? You're here," she added with a yawn. Chat was taken aback as the elevator dinged halfway up to their destination. They jolted to a stop to let on another passenger. A young man in dorky glasses and curly hair entered. He was trying not to drop all his papers, then looked at the superheroes and their outfits with confusion. "What in the world are you guys wearing? Did Anna send you?" He inquired in an American accent. He chose a floor and the elevator continued its course up.
"We're superheroes. We look after Paris," Ladybug clarified. "There is also an emergency situation, sir, so we advise that you evacuate as soon as possible."
"Wow, that's so cool! Love your costumes! I can't believe I'm meeting real superheroes!" He squealed. "I'm Josh Gad." Chat Noir smirked as he kept petting the cat.
"And you areeeeee?"
"Oh! I'm Ladybug," she introduced while shaking his hand. "Uh huh, and who's the mangy-looking tomcat over there?" He pointed.
"Chat Noir."
"Very funny, m'lady."
"Uh huh, and who's the cute kitty?"
"Hey!"
"Not sure. We found him here. Would you mind taking care of him?" Ladybug requested. "We have urgent matters to attend to." His face lit up like a Christmas tree. "Of course I'll take him! Come here, cutie!" Josh happily accepted the cat and left with it when it was his turn to get off.
"We're here," Ladybug notified when the elevator halted to a stop. The doors opened and allowed a ton of snow to blow in. The two shuddered at the sudden change in temperature, but what they saw next made them freeze.
The snow monster was already waiting for them on the roof. Chat's legs were shaking badly. He couldn't tell if it was from the cold or fear. Ladybug got her yo-yo ready.
"So...what's the plan again?"
"To come up with new one."
Sorry if the plot was sloppy-I was trying to throw it together before Valentine's Day. Stay tuned for part 2✌️Hope you liked! ~Sapphire out
