2) F̶u̶r̶r̶y̶ V̶e̶n̶g̶e̶a̶n̶c̶e̶: P̶a̶r̶t̶ 2

"This is taking an awful lot of time, Night Howler! Get their miraculous by tonight if you expect to keep your powers! Understand?"

"Yes, Hawkmoth," the akumatized girl answered. "Do not worry, once I gather my pack again, I will have something very special in store for tonight."

..........

Plagg's laughter filled Adrien's entire room. The poor boy rested at his desk with an ice pack on his forehead. The Ladyblog had been pulled onto his computer where a video of his entire encounter with the dog stampede had been playing.

Alya must've somehow gotten the whole thing on camera.

"One more time, one more time, AHAHAHAHAHA!!!" Plagg clutched his stomach on the desktop. "Three million views in under an hour, boy, you just went VIRAL!!" Adrien winced as he watched his head slam into the street sign for the seventh time.

"Yeah? Well, that's the least of my problems! How am I supposed to hide this from my father?" Adrien removed the ice pack revealing an imprint of the rectangular post. "HAHAHAHA YOU CAN SEE THE CREASES AND DENTS FROM THE METAL AND EVERYTHING OH MY GOD!!"

Plagg kept pounding his fist on the desk in endless fits of laughter, quieted down, then started all over again when the screen showed Chat hissing while hugging the lamppost.

Adrien let out a sigh of shame. "Chat Noir, hero of Paris, terrified of dogs and deals with trouble by scaling lampposts. I'm a joke," he mumbled. It wasn't that he was embarrassed for being scared. He was embarrassed for being scared and doing absolutely nothing about it.

He froze in fear and tried keeping himself safe when his lady needed him most. He let her down. And because of his cowardliness, she came to his rescue and the akuma had gotten away. He became a damsel in distress when he was supposed to be a hero Paris looked up to and relied on.

And the whole world saw it.

"Alright, Plagg, that's enough. You finished your Camembert, now it's time to meet Ladybug. Claws out."

Adrien was almost scared to face Ladybug, even as Chat, which was pretty bad. Chat was supposed to be the part of him that was wild and free. Chat was even hesitant to show his face outside and it wasn't even his actual face.

He wished with all his might that she didn't see the viral video, she didn't take him seriously as it was and if she felt she couldn't even work with him anymore...Chat tried his best to shake that thought out of his head- which he shouldn't have done because it hurt badly. To his relief, his messy hair and mask covered the bruise very well.

It was about one o'clock when he finally met his lady at the ledge of the bridge. Ladybug made sure to chide him for his tardiness. "You're late. You should've been here fifteen minutes ago." Chat hung his head low a little.

He took the long way to get there on the rooftops without using his baton. He tried to stay out of sight as much as possible and on top of that, his headache was seriously slowing him down.

"S-sorry, m'lady."

Her expression softened when she noticed his odd behavior. "Chat, what's wrong?"

"Nothing. Why do you ask?"

"Chat."

He knew there was no use in hiding it, she could see right through him. Well, not right through him, being his identity was still a secret, thank god for that.

Before he opened his mouth, the sound of people talking came closer as they realized a small group was passing them. "Here kitty kitty!" He spun around to find it was Kim, who had Alix and Max with him.

"What a scaredy cat!" Alix snickered. "If you saw the way his tail was in between his legs! Hilarious!"

"Oh, I did, everyone did!" Kim hooted. "He need some milk!" The others broke out in giggles at the joke. Chat wished he could shrink into the shadows and disappear. He tried not to show it, but it hurt. Even if his classmates couldn't see it, Ladybug could and it infuriated her.

"Some hero!"

"Hey!"

The trio jumped at her outburst. "We're in the middle of an important discussion so if you don't mind, you can leave." Ladybug bore her icy blue eyes into theirs which made them scurry along. The bridge was once theirs again.

"Chat?"

Chat turned his gaze away from her and studied the river below them. "Look, don't listen to them. Things like that are gonna happen. Is this about earlier?" He didn't answer her, he only sighed. "I can understand it must've been humiliating-"

"Understand? Understand?! What do you know about getting publicly humiliated? You're perfect and you always save the day and you never make any mistakes and I just...mess up all the time..."

Ladybug's face began to fume with anger. He wanted to play the perfect card? Her cheeks burned as her teeth started to clench together in attempt to hold back, but it was no use. "What do I know? Well, I'll have you know that under this pretty little mask of perfection you see, I have insecurities and flaws just like everyone else! And you really think you're the only one in the world who's ever been embarrassed?? I have normal life too! I know what it's like to make mistakes so don't you DARE tell me I don't understand!"

Chat Noir simply stood there stunned by her outburst. He immediately realized how foolish he sounded. His ears drooped down as guilt filled him inside for yelling at his bugaboo. "I-I'm sorry, Ladybug, I never thought-I just-"

"No, I'm sorry, Chat..." she cut off, seeing how hard she was on him. She couldn't believe she just exploded in front of him like that. "I shouldn't of yelled at you. I just have been...having a lot on my mind lately and it was unfair of me to take it out on you. All I meant to say was I know how it feels. Nobody is perfect, Chat."

She let out a heavy sigh and pulled him into a hug. He embraced the act and enjoyed every bit of it. When they parted, she gave him a reassuring smile.

"Don't worry, this will all eventually blow over. And if the world really does think you're a joke, it doesn't matter, because I think you're something very special, Chat Noir."

Her compliment made him smile. It wasn't everyday he got one from his lady. He suddenly cleared his throat. "Have you heard anything about the akuma?" Ladybug frowned and shook her head. "I was about to ask you the same. I have a suspicion she's gathering her pack again."

Chat shuddered at the thought of those mangy, savage animals. "What about her whistle?" "I broke it. I thought the akuma was in there and I was wrong. She claims she can still communicate with all her pets because she's a whisperer, but I have a hunch it will take a while for her to organize without that whistle."

"How will we know when to face bark breath?"

"Oh, trust me, we'll know."

...........................

Marinette was busy snoring at her desk when a little kwami nudged her awake. "Marinette, wake up! Now!" Tikki yelled.

"Huh?!" She swung her head up from her Chemistry books. She grimaced as she quickly smudged off some drool. "What is it, Tikki?" "Hurry, the news!" Marinette switched her computer on to find a new report. The zoo had been broken into where spotlights shone down on empty exhibits.

Marinette glanced at her clock. Eleven forty five already?!

"Attention: It appears the Paris Zoo Exhibit had been broken into in the dead of night where later a variety of species were stolen. Authorities claim none other than the dingos and wolves have been missing from their cages-"

"Tikki, spots on!" She gasped and got to her feet. Marinette hopped onto the railing of her balcony in her suit overlooking the city. Barking came from a load of dogs many blocks away. Based on the distance, their numbers were great. Ladybug was soon running through the night under the light of the moon, partially covered by clouds.

She eventually found Chat charging at her side toward the noise. "Ready?"

"I was born ready, m'lady," he nodded to her as they continued moving. The sound gradually became fainter over a minute. That was when the pair slowed down to catch their breaths.

"I don't understand. We were going in the right direction. Why does it feel like we're going the wrong way?" She thought aloud and crossed her arms. Chat Noir shook his head when his cat ears twitched. "This is the way. They're calming down. I don't like the sound of this."

Suddenly, their hair blew out of their faces for a second after a thud came from behind them. The duo spun around, weapons ready.

"How's my little chaton feline? How canine help? Poor scaredy cat, don't worry about my pack, my babies aren't needed yet," the female silhouette teased. "Although, I still have a bone to pick with you-" a sharp whack to her forehead knocked her off the roof causing her to crash into the street. She landed on a pile of wooden crates that cracked open from her impact.

Ladybug gaped at an irritated Chat who stood next to her with his baton hanging at his side. She didn't even protest. "Thank you," she suddenly chimed in. She had been wanting to do that. "Let's go."

"Gladly," he hissed.

The villain groaned and rubbed the throbbing area on her face. She immediately sat up with alarm when Ladybug and Chat Noir landed in front of her.

"Now, that's what I call catatonic," Chat rubbed in. And the chase began. Night Howler fled. They hunted her down street after street and kept tailing her. That is, until she led them to an open square before the Eiffel Tower where her dog army was waiting for her. Chat dug his heels into the ground and skidded to a stop. Ladybug did the same when she noticed her partner wasn't with her anymore.

"Chat, come on!" She urged. "We don't have time to waste!" He frantically nodded with a large gulp, then forced his feet to follow his lady around the dogs. He wasn't going to make the same mistake twice.

Some snapped at him if he got too close, which instantly made him hiss back. A few whimpered at Chat's reaction, and many looked like they were going to lunge at him, but all remained still yet to receive a command from their leader.

"Up there!" She pointed. A fuzzy figure was making her way to the top of the Eiffel tower.

The out of breath dog whisperer panted as she climbed over the railing and onto the platform. "Stupid...tower," she gasped while resting on her javelin like it was a staff.

"Out of shape, are we?"

Night Howler's head shot up in shock and covered her mouth. "How-how did you-I was- y-you were all....but how-"

"Chat got your tongue?" He laughed. Night Howler squeezed her lips and pouted. "How did you get here before me?" She demanded. "It's called the elevator," Ladybug explained. "They actually play pretty good music," Chat thoughtfully noted.

"Whatever! The time has come! The Alpha of Paris will now rise!" She declared. "Now surrender or face my fury!!"

"Or face your furry what?" A confused Chat asked. Night Howler growled in frustration before face palming herself, then winced, seeing it was where the feline hero had hit her. "Not furry, fury!"

"Oh."

She was now more furious than ever for him ruining her moment. "And now, witness my wrath!" A diabolical laugh left her mouth as she raised her javelin high and threw it down. It clanged against the cement. Chat Noir decide to seize the opportunity to attack her without her weapon.

Ladybug saw his muscles tense, but blocked him with her arm. "What are you-" "Wait," she ordered. The clouds parted in the sky, revealing a beautiful full moon above them. A piercing howl struck the air. Their opponent had her eyes closed as she had dramatically released her call into the night. Hundreds of howls from the dogs following her act.

Then Chat jumped when he swore he heard a howl from behind. He unknowingly squeezed Ladybug's arm tightly when he turned to see three full grown wolves calmly approach them while letting out their harmonized cries.

"Uh-um, m-m-m'lady?" He squeaked while raising a shaky finger. "Chat Noir, compose yourself!" She scolded him after he threw his arms around her in fear. Her eyes widened when she spotted the wolves. "Oh," she said. She realized her voice was rather high, then quickly tried to put on a brave face for Chat. "Er-Oh. Don't worry, we'll figure something out."

She couldn't even seem timid for a second, because right now, her chaton really needed her.

A gasp escaped from them when their attention turned back to the task at hand.

"Er-er....gRAHHH!" She roared when she extended her hands. Her claws grew longer, her tail became bushier, and her hairline spread lower down her neck. Fur spread up her arms as her palms transfigured into actual paws. Her shadow stretched into a slightly different figure as Ladybug and Chat watched in horror.

Her nose formed itself into a snout as her clothes and boots melted into more fur. Tiny fangs started to protrude out of her mouth.

Meanwhile, at his evil layer, Hawkmoth let out a victorious laugh as the events unfolded before him. "Yes! At last their miraculouses will become mine!" A wave of purple formed upon the the wolf girl's hungry eyes as she intently awaited her master's next orders.

"Honor our agreement. Finish them!"

"Hope she doesn't plan to wolf us down for a midnight snack," Chat whimpered, now hiding behind his teammate. Their expressions began to drastically change when Night Howler's size did. Within seconds she sat in front of them looking nothing like a person. Ladybug was awestruck.

"U-um...wut is that," a puzzled Chat remarked at the creature below them. His partner gasped with surprise. "She's so cute!" She gushed before picking up the Pomeranian pup. She cradled her, but the little dog startled yapping and snarled. Chat yelped and jumped away.

"Just find the akuma, just please please find the akuma, m'lady!" He pleaded while clutching his baton to his chest in terror at the adorable puppy.

"Wait, what?!" Hawkmoth exclaimed back in his lair. "No, they're right within your reach! Take the miraculous immediately!"

The puppy hung her head low in shame. Chat Noir and Ladybug could tell that Hawkmoth was still speaking to her. She spoke in a way that sound like a child's whine fused with puppy whimpers.

"I have a big head...and little arms...I'm just not sure how well this plan was thought through..."

Hawkmoth stood silent for a moment until his eye started to twitch. He growled and threw down his staff.

The fluffy villain waited anxiously but there was no response.

"...Master?"

"Look!" Said Ladybug. Chat squinted his eyes in the light of the moon. He still wasn't too eager to get any closer than he had too. A small ring reflected a moonbeam around the pup's paw.

"How did I not see it before??"

She made a grab for it but the dog in her arms bit her. "Ow! Bad dog!"

Unfortunately, she dropped the dog in surprise. "M'lady!" Ignoring his fear, he ran to her side and payed no mind to the dog's growling around his feet. She pulled her finger out of her mouth to reveal a small bite on her forefinger. There was only a little blood, but Chat took her hand and gently kissed the wound anyway.

"There, all better," he assured. Without hesitation, he snatched the evil Pomeranian causing it to yelp. No one hurts his lady. He fixed his eyes on the puppy's and glared as he swiftly slipped the ring off. He let it slip through his fingers then crushed in into the cement with his baton.

A dark butterfly fluttered away. He was really beginning to hate those things. His partner was fast to cleanse it of its evil then the weight in his arms got heavier. He had forgotten he was even holding the animal. Chat allowed it to leap down.

They watched it transform up into a girl on her knees. She wore a pair of jeans, a green flowery top and white flats. "Huh?" She suddenly looked up at her saviors. Her black hair was cascading down her back again, only her eyes were now a light blue, not silver. She moaned and put her fingers to the bump on her head.

"Why does my head hurt so much?"

"You tripped!" Chat blurted.

More like I pushed you...

"Ladybug? Chat Noir?" She remarked in disbelief. "Where the in the world am I?"

"Paris."

Chat earned himself a hard smack in the side. "The Eiffel Tower to be exact," Ladybug added while giving him a dirty look, but smiled at the girl and helped her up.

"Oh my, it's really you! I can't believe I'm standing in front of you guys," she marveled. "What's your name?" Chat asked. "Léa....Léa Jean," she quietly replied.

"Say, Léa. Why don't we get you home?" He offered. "It's pretty late." Léa meekly nodded then gawked. "Why are there wolves up here? Why are we even up here?"

Chat's eyes bulged. "U-um..." he tried to control his anxiety, especially since the person they were supposed to protect was right there. To his relief, the wolves were lying down and appeared to be pretty relaxed for being stranded on top of a skyscraper.

"Long story, but we'll discuss that later," he brushed off. Ladybug used her miraculous to restore the damage that had been made that day, which had been catastrophic.

During their walk to Léa's house, the two had enlightened her on everything that had happened. Well, not everything. They didn't want to scare her and some things were better left unsaid-like her turning into an evil were-puppy.

Chat tried to not feel a grudge against her. He knew none of it was Léa's actual fault, but he never had such bad blood with a villain before.

Soon, dawn began to light up the vacant streets fairly well as the superheroes accompanied Léa Jean on the long walk home. She insisted on walking and was too nervous to swing around with Ladybug. Not to mention, all the bus services were down from the previous chaos.

During their long talk, the two had learned Léa Jean was new to Paris. Eventually, they came across an old animal shelter. She stopped in front of it and let out a muffled sob.

"This was where it had happened. Where everything went black."

Chat Noir and Ladybug very well knew what that meant. It was where she got akumatized. A tear slid down her face, making Chat forget everything he wanted to hold against her.

"Rosy. She was my new puppy. She was the most beautiful Pomeranian. I-I lost her for a while, but then I found out she was here. When I came to get her...i-it was too late," she cried. The story was heartbreaking. Ladybug sadly gave Léa a hug, but she tore free when she saw a light in inside the building.

Léa dashed inside and the two were surprised it was still unlocked. They ran after her only to see her broken face gazing at all the caged animals in the kennels.

A bored lady sat behind a rundown desk. "You're still open?" Chat questioned with an eyebrow raised. The lady slowly nodded, not even acknowledging that there were two superheroes in front of her.

"Evil never takes a day off," Léa mumbled. Her eyes wandered through all the depressed dogs under the dim lighting. Until she saw two little, green eyes staring back at her in a dark corner. Not even bothering to ask for permission, she unlocked the cage and carefully pulled out a small, underfed, black kitten.

It was definitely a runt. She let the fuzzy kitty cuddle into her arms and held it close. It let out the tiniest mew to her. Tears formed in the Léa's eyes at the cute scrawny thing. "You're the one," she whispered.

Ladybug refused to look at the animals. She knew she would burst into tears.

Léa ended up adopting the kitten and by the time they were finished, the three of them admired it's cuteness in the break of dawn. It was nearly five, and the three still had school.

Chat couldn't help but notice the kitten and him looked similar. He gave it a soft pet on the head with his forefinger. The kitty's purrs sounded unhealthy, but Léa was determined to change that.

"What are you going to name him?" Ladybug said with a sweet smile.

"Chat Noir. Chat for short," she decided as she grinned at Chat (Ladybug's Chat). Chat Noir's mouth opened slightly. He felt pretty honored that she was naming her new best friend after him. Before the moment got too sentimental for his taste as Chat Noir, he grinned back at her.

"I thought you were more of a dog person?" He smirked. She chuckled a little while glancing at her kitten. "Maybe I'm more of a cat person," she admitted before wrapping an arm around him. Chat Noir was caught off guard, but returned the embrace and was careful not to squish the kitten.

"Thank you so much, you're my hero, Chat Noir." The words had him shook. He was used to just always being known as a sidekick, but that day made him feel much more appreciated. "Your welcome," he replied with a smile.

Ladybug crossed her arms as she watched the two. The hug was beginning to grow a little too long for her taste. That is, until Léa pulled her into it too. A smile soon made its way onto her face as well.

A half an hour later she had safely returned to her new home under the watchful eye of Ladybug and Chat Noir. They relaxed on a park bench watching the sunrise. "What a night," Chat sighed.

"I know," Ladybug yawned while stretching her arms. "And we didn't even use our lucky charm and cataclysm." Chat smiled to himself.

Our.

"What's so funny?"

"Hm? Oh, nothing."

"I'm proud of you, Chat."

His ears perked at her words. "May I ask why, m'lady?"

"You overcame your fears and exposed the akuma for me."

Chat suddenly felt something on his shoulder. When he shifted his focus down, he saw she was nearly asleep on him. His face flushed for a few seconds. He couldn't help but feel at ease with his lady next to him.

No akumas. A beautiful sunrise. No alerts from the miraculouses telling them to recharge. Peace and quiet.

"Hey, Ladybug, what's the strangest pet you ever had?" He inquired, figuring she was already asleep.

"You."
