Description      Adrien Agreste gets a phone call from the women's prison. He cannot believe Marinette is behind bars.  What could have brought this about anyway?

       Adrien's  POV:

       I  leave my house immediately to see her.

       I am sad. I do not understand.

       Why was Marinette arrested?   

     I arrive at the women's prison.

   "Hi, I am Adrien Agreste.  I am here to see Marinette Dupain-Cheng."

       The lady at the front desk shows me to the visitor's area.  I look up at a familiar lady who enters the room with an orange jumpsuit and tennis shoes.

        "Marinette?"

       "Adrien, senapi, you came."

        I feel her wrap her arms around me. I stand there in shock as I hug her.

        "What did you call me?"

       "I am so happy to see you."

        "Marinette, what happened to you?"

        "I  am a hardened criminal."

         "I see, but what are you accused of doing?"

        "Murder."

       "You murder?" I look at her in surprise. I refuse to believe it.  I shake my head.

         "I went to school with you, and we were friends."

          "I know. I was jealous of all the other girls."

           "Other girls?"

          "Yes, you were popular with the girls. The others were so close to you."

           "One day, something in me snapped."

            "I could no longer hold back. I had to have you to myself."

              "I was only going to kill the one. Chole."

               "Then, I saw my best friend get close to you. I was furious. I did not mean to kill her. I only meant to scare her. Only, I messed up, and she was dead."

                 "I panicked when I saw Lila later. She threatened to tell you everything. I tricked her into thinking I needed help with homework and killed her while she was in the bathroom."

                  "Soon, I found it was easy to take them out."

                 "Til one by one, they were all gone. It was me. I did it."

                   "Why?"

                   "I did it for you, Adrien," Marinette says.

               After her confession, I sob. I knew now the horrible truth. Marinette was behind the past killings of all our classmates. 

             "Our friends? You killed Rose, Juleka, Alya, and Kagami?"

              I saw her nod her head.  I could see tears in her eyes, but I did not hear any remorse in her voice. 

             It dawned on me Marinette was mentally ill.  I could not bare it.

             "Everyone loved you."

          "Not everyone. My father did it for me. He ruined my life. He strangled my mother in front of me.   I only saw him as my mother's killer."

          "Marinette, I am sorry. I never knew. I always meant to ask you out.  Something always held me back. I am so sorry.  I loved you. No, I still love you."

            I cried again as I hugged and kissed her.

            "Goodbye, Mari."  

       I wave goodbye to the only girl I have ever loved.

      I am sure I will never see her again.

    I was too late.
