Supermarket Surprise one-shot by Summer Cheng(@SummerCheng37)

Description:  Adrien went away to college right after high school, but he kept a secret to himself.   Marinette stayed in Paris. She took online courses at a local college.

Three years later, Marinette is in the grocery store. It is more of the local market. Still, she never imagined she would see him again.

This particular one-shot I choose to dedicate to Bugaboo_Topaz  as she requested this Adrienette one-shot story.  I hope you like it, girl.

     Marinette's  POV:

I  enter the supermarket to buy some groceries.  It is the weekend, and I might as well make sure I am well-stocked.

I recall something about an upcoming snowstorm.

I find my items and head towards the register. On my way, I bump into the stack of soup cans, and they fall all over the place. I am completed mortified.

"Oh dear, let me help you clean that up!"

I turn to see who spoke. Oh, it is only Luka as usual. No surprise there he is worked here for years.

"You sure, you got it all?  I mean, it was my fault."

        "Go on, Marinette!"

I  nod my head and get in line at register four.  I notice a familiar young lady in front of me. Great is Chole.  I know we never once saw eye to eye in high school. I sure hope she does not recognize me.

"Well, well, look here. If it is Marinette Dupain-Cheng."  Chole says.

       "Hi, Chole."

"Is that the latest design you made?"

       "Yes, why?"

      "Well, it is positively exquisite."

"Is not that right, Adrikins!"  Chole squeals.

It is then it dawns on me the guy behind the register. It is Adrien Agreste, my high school crush.  I can not believe it.  Since when has he worked here?

         "Hi, Chole!"

          "Hi, Marinette!"

Oh my goodness, he said my name. So he does remember me.

I  wish I could say, I replied to him.  I hide behind a magazine. It was one of those cooking magazines. I dared not act as if I noticed what he had to say about me to Chole.

I  looked up when I heard a voice ask, "Mari, aren't you going to put them on the conveyor belt?"

       "Ah, yes."

I place the items where he can reach them.

"A-Adrien, when d-did you st-start working here?" I blurt out.

"I have been here for six months, Mari."

I blush when he calls me, Mari, the nickname he gave me back in high school.

I see Adrien put on the sign that reads, "Sorry register closed."

I  smile as he beeps up my groceries. Then, hand him the amount I owe for it.

"So, it was nice seeing you again."

    "S-Same, here, A-Adrien."

"I  mean, it is been ages since we last spoke, and  I..." I feel my heart flutter happily as he places my bags in the cart for me.

"Mari, I am sorry for not telling you this sooner, but I had a crush on you in high school."

I look at him shocked. I mean my crush admitted he crushed on me in the past.

"You did? I mean wow!  What a small world. "

" I had a crush on you in high school, too!"

"So, any boyfriends to take you out this weekend? I know there is a Jagged Stone concert  tomorrow night at seven."

"It so happens that no. I mean, I like Jagged Stone.  I am definitely  single."

"You still single?  But your the prettiest girl  ever!"

I  laugh, so hard I cry.  "Thanks, Adrien, but I do not think that is true."

      "Oh, it is."

I  listen as he asks me to go with him to the concert.

As he looks at me with those gorgeous green eyes of his, I hear a lady at register two say, "If you do not take his word for it, then I will be happy to go out with him. He is a hunk."

"Sorry, but this hunk is taken," I shout back at her.

I  wink at him as it is his turn to blush.

      "A hunk, huh?"

"Sure you are, and I will be happy to go with you to the Jagged Stone concert this Saturday!"

"Great, it is a date!  Pick you up at 6:30."

I  stood on my tiptoes and kissed his cheek. "Yes, it is a date!"

I  leave the supermarket feeling like my greatest dreams come true.

Wow, after all this time, Adrien Agreste asks me out!

I put my things in the car, and drive home with this dopey grin on my face.

I can not wait to tell Alya the good news.

  The end...

bye-bye-little owlets!

-Summer out!

PS. I will make more one-shots, but this is it for this one.
