Miraculous Seas by Summer Cheng (@SummerCheng37)
Description
Adrien had always dreamt of the sea. He finally had his private boat, yet he was all alone in the vast array of the ocean.
Adrien's POV:
I feel as if life has let me down.
Why do I feel more alone than before I came to sea?
I have a crew and food.
I feel lonesome.
My best friend Nino is my first mate, and his girlfriend, Alya is the first lady pirate.
I have a cook, a ship's maid, and a few maidens aboard who come and go as they please.
I found gold, silver, rubies, diamonds, emeralds, and other jewels.
I am the captain, Adrien Agreste of the high seas.
I have traveled across the Miraculous seas and done as I please.
In all these years, I have found no love.
I could find love in the sea.
I sigh. What must I do to find love?
I am a pirate. I could take a girl, but would she love me?
I fear she would only despise me if I kidnapped a woman.
I shook my head.
I suppose I will have to remain a lone sad fellow.
For who could love a pirate?
Who indeed?
I shall be single forever, I fear.
All the maidens in the land only stayed because they feared me or I promised the food as they set sea with me and my crew.
Yes, I must be meant for a life without a wife by my side.
Across the seas, there was a girl. A maiden, Marinette, and she loved the sea. The only trouble was by day she was a fair young lady, but by night took on a different form. She had been blessed with the gift of being a mermaid every time the darkness took over. She felt it was destined for her to be alone since she was a freak. Who could ever love a woman who was also a fish girl?
A mermaid, one whose stories were made up by pirates, and others. She hated the thought of being alone forever.
Marinette never thought her path would ever cross anyone who was as alone as her. One day, she awakened to a ghastly sound. The sound of wood splitting in two as a ship hit some corral and was tossed against the waves. She watched in horror as the vessel began to sink. She saw a few people escape in a smaller boat, one on a raft, and two that swam to safety. She overheard someone say, "Captain, Adrien! Adrien is still aboard the ship! We must go after him!"
The others would not listen, and she saw a boot that poked out of the vessel. She swam fast as it hit the bottom and saw a man all dressed in black all except for his white shirt, his blonde hair, and green eyes. She thought he looked too good to be a pirate. She knew it was crazy, but she could not watch him die.
Marinette was glad it was early morning for it was still dark out. She grabbed the man and took him to the shore. She noticed he appeared to be dead. No, it can not be. Not on her watch anyway. She turned him over and watched the water drip out of his mouth onto the sand. She flipped him over again. She checked for a pulse. She noticed none.
She could not let him stay this way. She had to do something. She knew it was risky, but she would risk it all for him if only it meant she was a hero. A hero one last time.
She climbs on the shore and felt the sun start to come up. She leans over and gave his chest some compressions and breathed some breath into him. She soon saw his chest rise and fall as his heart began to beep once more. She smiles but then frowns. She must not let him see her.
She turns to go.
"Wait, miss, may I know the name of my rescuer?"
"Marinette, my name is Marinette."
"Marinette, thank you, I am Adrien Agreste, a captain, and my ship what happened?"
"I am sorry sir, it appears your ship has sunken into the bottom of the sea, Captain Adrien Agrest, the dread pirate."
Adrien cringed. He hated the word pirate on her lips. Why it should trouble him so, he was not sure.
Marinette walked away.
Adrien stood up and followed her. He ignored the pain in his left leg and the way it felt as he dragged it behind him.
"Oh, my goodness, you are hurt."
"Marinette, do not worry your pretty little head over me. A fine maiden like yourself should not bother with such the likes of me."
"Listen here, mister, you can't tell me who I keep company with and I seek to keep company with you, then I shall."
Marinette finds some cloth that had been brushed ashore and uses it to bandage his leg. Adrien groaned in pain.
Marinette kisses his cheek, then pulls away in shame.
"I must be going."
"When will I see you again?"
"Never, for a pirate and a girl like me could never be. Never."
Adrien sighs as she watches her go. He knows she is right, so why does it hurt so much? Why does his heart feel so empty now that she has gone?
He swore not to tell a soul about the mysterious maiden who saved his life. He wishes he could have let her see what she means to him. How could feel such for her when they barely met?
He sighs. So is the tale of the sea.
Til the next Miraculous one-shot story,
bye-bye, little owlets!
Summer out!
