How can I tell him? by Summer Cheng@SummerCheng37

Description:

Emma Agreste is sad. She found out that they were all moving. How can I tell him? By him, she meant her best friend, Nathan Lahaffe. She always felt something was special about him. Only, she was not sure how he felt about her.

 Emma's POV:

I sighed. It was the last day of summer, and I will be moving soon. My parents and siblings are all glad about the move, but I am not. I will miss all of this. How can I leave everything behind? I have my life here, my friends, my home, my school, and it is the place where I met my best friend. I can't be expected to be happy about throwing it all away.

"No, this can't be happening, we can't leave," I pleaded with them to listen.

"Sorry, Emma, but we felt it was best. We know how hard it was on you when your boyfriend, Paul, died. Besides, the new place will be much bigger. You will not have to share a room with your sister, Elizabeth, anymore," her mother, Marinette, tried to explain.

"We have to move because it is best for our family," her father, Adrien, told her.

"I can't leave. I mean, I never said anything to him. I told the others, but I have not told Nathan," Emma sobbed.

"Nathan, your best friend?" Marinette asked.

"Yes, but he may mean more to me," Emma said.

"Our daughter is in love," Adrien said with a smile. I knew that feeling all too well.

"Go to him," Adrien said.

"What?" Emma asked.

"Go tell him. We leave in four days and you can't leave without telling him. So go tell him before you lose your chance too," Adrien said.

"Yes, your father is right," Marinette agreed.

"Ew, Emma's in love," Louis said.

"Yeah, mushy stuff, gross," Hugo added.

"I think it is romantic," Elizabeth said.

"You would because you are a girl," the boys said.

Emma rushed out the door without noticing her surroundings. She ran so hard she smacked into someone. "Whoa, are you okay?" Nathan asked He looked her over closely glad she was not hurt. "Emma, why are you crying?" He asked. "Me, crying, it is nothing, allergies," She lied. "Look, I know that is not true, so tell me," He said.  "I c-can't..." She said.

Nathan was worried. He could not understand why his best friend was upset. Sure she was a girl, but he had been friends with her for a long time. He could tell when she was hurting because it made him feel pain too. He never let on that he shared such a bond with her. How could he?  She was wonderful, beautiful, and creative, and he never felt he could deserve her. He sighed. When had he gone and fallen in love with her he was not sure. He knew he loved Emma.

He held her close. He was concerned if he let go she would disappear. He sensed something was off because he did not see that usual smile of hers he was used to. He reached up and cupped her cheek. He wanted to kiss her, but should he?

"N-Nathan, let me go..." She said. "Not until you tell me, Emma. Did some boy do this to you? If so, who do I need to pound?" He asked. "It is not about that I swear," She said.  "Emma, please, tell me," Nathan said. He felt it was killing him inside as it was not knowing how she felt about him. He hated to see her sad.  "N-no," Emma mutteredd.

Nathan knew he should not, but he had to act fast. He slowly brought his lips closer to hers. He saw her shocked look, but he kissed her.  He could not understand her reaction. Emma closed her eyes afraid the movement would end if she did not. She reached up and put her arms around him. She kissed him.

"Emma?" Nathan said her name softly as she pulled away. "N-Nathan, I am sorry, I..." Emma said. "Sorry, you need not be sorry, I kissed you first. I had to kiss you because I love you!" He confessed. To his surprise instead of her smiling she sobbed more. "Emma?" Nathan inquired. He held her in his arms and let her cry. He only wished he could make her happy.

"I am sorry because I have to leave in a few days," Emma said. "Is that all?  I know you could use a vacation and I..." Nathan began. "It is not a vacation, I am moving, I am moving away from Paris," Emma told him. "Tell me, I heard you wrong, Emma? You can't be moving ?" Nathan said. He stood there stunned. "I am sorry but it is true," Emma said. Nathan starts to cry along with her. "What? You are leaving me?" He said it in an almost accusatory tone.  "I am sorry, I don't want to go."  "How many days?" He asked. "Four," She said. "Then, we make the most of today and all the remaining ones we have together," Nathan said.  "Alright, but only because I love you too," Emma said. "Wait, what?" Nathan gasped in surprise at her words. "You love me?" He said. "Y-yes, and you love me," Emma said.

Nathan and Emma agreed to meet for a few days before the move.  Nathan already had her cell number. She had given it to him years ago.

Emma went home smiling despite her being sad about the move. "It went well then," Marinette said. "Yes, mother, he loves me, and I love him. He kissed me!" Emma said. She ran to her room before her mother could say another word. "Whoa, did I hear that right?  Did Emma say Nathan kissed her?" Adrien asked. "Yes," Marinette beamed. "Well, I feel bad about breaking them apart, but I am sure they will find a way," Adrien said. "yes, I am sure of it too, because true love always finds a way," Marinette added.

True to their word, Emma and Nathan spent the next few days together. They shared ice cream, went to the park, bowling, and skating, laughed, canoeing, and enjoyed time together. All too soon, the day of the move came.

Emma sighed as she took the last of her things out to the car. Most of the items they owned were in the moving van, and a few things in the car.  Emma climbed into the back seat feeling sad. Nathan had not come to see her off. Had he moved on so soon?

Nathan arrived as the car was about to leave. He sighed, he was late. He felt bad about it.

He approached the car, so Adrien stopped to wait for him. Nathan went to Emma, and she rolled down the window.  He handed her two small items. He leaned in and kissed her. The kiss was slow since the boy and girl knew it would be the last kiss. When Emma pulled away, Nathan sighed.

"I 'll miss you, Emma!" He called out. "I will miss you more!" Emma called out.

Nathan waved as the Agreste left the neighborhood for the last time, for good. He felt like his heart would break. He found out the girl he loved returned his love only for her to move. He felt so sad. What would he do without her?

He recalled how a week ago, Ladybug had told him (she didn't know it was him) as Chat that she was leaving. Now, both his ladies were gone. He had a hunch that Ladybug was Emma. He was not sure why, but he was sure of it.

A few days later, an akuma strikes. He helped but his heart was not in it. He sighed. The new ladybug girl made sure he did not get hurt. She caught the akumas and left. He did not follow her. Why would he? She was not the same. No one was. Emma was the only girl for him. Now, he knew the truth, Emma was Ladybug all along. No wonder, he felt his heart break more.

The two kept in touch with letters, but it was not the same.

            Time skip!

Four years later, a young lady exits the limo with a smirk. She goes to see the Lahaffes. Mrs. Lahaffe smiles when she sees her.  "Emma, is that you?" Alya Lahaffe asked. "Yes," Emma said. "Well, you look great. I am sure Nathan will be happy to see you," Alya said. "Is that Emma?" Mr. Nino Lahaffe asked.  Emma nodded her head. "Well, well, what have we here?" Nathan asked as he entered the room.  "Nathan, guess who dropped by for a visit?" His parents gushed.

"Look, lady, my heart was broken by the only girl I ever loved so let me deal with it my way. Sure, she said she loved me. She moved days later, and we wrote letters, but some of them made me think she moved on. What am I to do?" Nathan asked. Emma stood up and walked over to him. She hugged him. "Nathan, I didn't move on, I promised. I kept my promise, I love you as I always have," Emma explained. "Emma?" Nathan gasped. He did not realize the big movie star in town was also his best friend, crush, and the love of his life.

"Yes," Emma said. She felt him return the hug as he sobbed. She wiped his tears away, then kissed him. Nathan kissed her. The two went out on a date like it was the natural thing to do. It has been far too long, but they made it work.

The movie was released, and Nathan went with Emma to the preview. He had to admit it made him jealous to see another male actor in the lead role alongside Emma. The main part that bothered him the most was the end where the two kissed. The end credits rolled. Others clapped, but he ran outside angry. Emma followed him.

"Emma, how could you?" He asked. "It was not real, it was only an act," Emma said. "What about us?" Nathan asked. "What we have is real," Emma tried to assure him.  "prove that you love me," Nathan said. Emma smirked. She pulled him close and kissed him.  She did not care who saw them.

Nathan and Emma kept on dating. Her director told her to choose her career or her boyfriend. Emma smirked and tore the newest script in half. "Get yourself a new actress, because I quit. Nathan means everything to me." She said

Emma smiled up at Nathan and him at her. He was shocked she had given up her actress job for him. She could not be happier.  Nathan saw her for who she was long before, yes she was happier with him.

Six months later, Nathan got on one knee and proposed. Emma said, "Yes!" as she wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him. He kissed her then, slipped the ring on his fiance's hand.

The two did not want to wait for the wedding since they had already waited four years to get back together.  Their family and friends showed up to surprise them.

They were eloped with all their loved ones to witness it.

After everyone else went home, Nathan and Emma finished packing for their honeymoon. Then, Nathan drove her to the airport. He made her wear a blindfold. Once on the plane, he let her remove it.

Hours later the plane landed in Hawaii. Emma was surprised Nathan remembered this was her dream from the past. Emma and Nathan entered the airport holding hands. The taxi service took them to the hotel. The two enjoyed the pool, and then returned to the room. They put on something nice and enjoyed a meal of grilled chicken, a side salad, corn on the cob, and cheesecake for dessert.  After they meal, they went to their room and had some fun. By fun, I mean they had sex for the first time since they had gotten married.

Married life treated them well.  A few months later, Emma discovered she was pregnant and shared the news with her husband, Nathan. He was so excited to be a father!

  The end...
