Description

    Luka sits on the edge of the bed. He shakes his head. He can not believe his son is coming for a visit. Luka is grief-stricken because his wife died two weeks ago.  

 "Dad, dad, come on, open up. I know you are in there, dad."

    Luka hesitates with his hand on the handle.  He finally pulls it open before he loses his nerve.

     "Jason?"

    "Dad, it is good to see you. I am so sorry to hear about mom."

               "I am sorry to son."

           Luka is taken aback as Jason hugs him. He returns the hug with one of his.

              "How exactly, did she die?"

               "She lost her eyesight in a bad accident and was never the same afterward."

                 "She had a heart attack."

                  "I never knew mom had heart problems. "

                 "She never complained about them but she did. It had gotten worse over the years but the doctors refused to do surgery without approval from the insurance company. "

                  "Dad, that sounds horrible."

                   "It is son."

  

                  Jason cries.  Luka does the same.

                 A few minutes later, Luka hugs Jason once more.

                "Jason I want you to know that should something happen to me, you get it all."

                 "Alright, dad, enough of that though, I brought you something."

                     Luka takes the package Jason holds. He opens it to see a copy of the last music cd his mother ever made.

                    "Thanks, son this means more to you than you know."

                    "Believe it or not you are not the only one who feels like his grief is beyond repair."

                     Luka put the cd into the player. As the music came on, Luka heard his wife's voice once more as she sang. He sighs. Jason does the same.

                    The two men, wept together as they listened to the cd of their loved one.

                      It contains a memory that makes their pain seem less bad.
