Four Hearts and a Blue Kazoo one-shot by Summer Cheng (@SummerCheng37)
Description
This is a soulmate story.
Marinette dreads finding her soulmate. He must be a total jerk. Is she right?
Marinette's POV:
I enter the schoolyard as the bell rings.
I take a seat.
I hear someone snicker.
I look up to see Chole pointing at my seat.
I get up to inspect it. Ugh, someone put a spit wad and some silly string there.
Who would do such a thing?
I got out a napkin and laid it across the silly string.
Today was the day I was to find my soulmate. I dreaded it.
What if he was a jerk?
I did not know many single boys.
Alix was with Max, Ivan with Mylene, and Luka with the new girl Zoe.
Alya was dating Nino, Sabrina had a long-distance relationship with Seth, Lila was with Nick,
and I was not sure who else there was not already in a relationship.
I took notes in class trying not to think about how I would find him.
A time skip is brought to you by Alya's Antics and Nino's Corny Jokes!
After school, I started home.
I never saw someone place a bag in my hand.
I arrived home within fifteen minutes.
I went to do my homework.
It was then I saw some strange bag.
Whose was it?
I opened the bag.
Out fell a red heart.
I opened it.
Dear Bluenette,
I am sorry my mother won't let me out of the house.
I saw you looked lonely so I had my friend, Plagg bring you this note.
Anyway, I hope your day is splendid.
I can't wait to meet you. I am sure we will be the best of friends.
Love,
your soulmate
After she read the letter, she scoffed. "Ha, he didn't even have the guts to stand up to his mother."
"Some soulmate, he is."
"Marinette, don't be so hard on the boy," Tikki said.
"Tikki, you are my best friend, but why do you care?"
"I want to see you happy."
"I am happy."
Tikki rolls her eyes. She knows Marinette is not happy.
Marinette has not been happy for a long time. Not since her parents moved her here to Paris, France, enrolled her in a new school and refused to listen to her.
Tikki knew all this but did not say anything. She was with her during the move.
The next day, Marinette bumped into a blonde-haired, green-eyed boy in a red t-shirt, black pants, red socks, and black shoes.
"Ouch, watch it you!" Felix scowled.
The boy looked up to see who bumped into him.
He smiled. She was a beautiful sight.
"H-hi, there."
"Hi, I am sorry for bumping into you."
"No sweat, pretty girl, I know it was an accident." He winked at her.
Marinette blushed. What has gotten into her?
Marinette arrives at school and sits in her usual seat.
Felix slides in next to her.
"Hi, again."
"Hi, I am Felix."
"Hi, Felix, I am Marinette."
"Nice to meet you, Marinette."
"Same, I am sure," Marinette said.
Felix could tell something troubled her. What was it?
After the first class finished Felix watched in surprise as she entered the next class.
How did he end up with her in all his classes? He didn't mind but felt she didn't like him that much.
Marinette sat in the seat towards the front. This was her assigned seat. It was the only class where the teacher assigned seats.
"Hi, class. It seems we have a new student."
Felix got up and introduced himself. Marinette hung onto every word.
"You may go see next Marinette."
Felix smiled.
Marinette and Felix worked on building a pyramid together out of soda cans.
Once finished, they bumped fists.
Felix blushed. What made her have this effect on him?
yes, I skipped the rest of the school day because I felt like it. So deal with it.
After school, Felix walked Marinette home. He blew her a kiss before she closed the door. She blushed but did not faint.
Felix went home with a silly grin on his face. There was something special about Marinette, he knew it.
*Author's note: Plagg and Tikki are not kwami's. Plagg is Felix's best friend and happens to be his pet cat. Tikki is a shapeshifter. Sometimes she is a cat, and sometimes a human.
That evening Marinette found another heart.
This time it was outside her window.
Dear Bluenette,
I see you had a great day at school.
Anyway, what did you think of Felix?
I promise tomorrow, I will see to it that you understand how much you mean to me.
Love,
your soulmate,
Marinette blushed. What had he meant by making her understand how much she meant to him?
The next day was Saturday, Marinette went to the old abandoned gazebo. She sat there and sketched. She did not see him come and sit on the bench across from her. She missed it when he sighed and watched her as she stepped outside.
It started to rain. It was light at first.
He had followed her.
When the rain got heavier, Felix watched her enter a passageway that led into the basement. He followed her.
Once in her room, Felix brushed off some of the water droplets.
"Hey cut it out."
Marinette handed him a towel. She also gave him some spare clothes.
"The clothes are from my cousin, Timmy's last visit."
Felix nodded his head. He stepped into the bathroom with the towel and clothes.
Marinette could hear the sound of the shower and whistling. Then, she heard the door open to reveal Felix in the outfit she had given him. He sat on her chaise where he dried his hair.
Felix put away the dryer and turned around.
"Admiring are you?"
"Don't flatter yourself, Felix."
Marinette did not see the third heart poking out of the drawer on her desk.
Felix sat on the desk chair.
"Marinette, are you always this stubborn?"
"Stubborn about what?"
"Being friends with boys?"
"Agh, you are impossible."
Felix walked over to her and held her hand. "Marinette, I want to be friends."
"Friends it is then."
The two shook on it. Felix grimaced, why had he agreed to this? He liked her.
Two months later, Felix and Marinette were nearly inseparable.
Marinette had read the third heart-shaped letter by now. She heard Felix was about to turn seventeen.
He was older than her. It figures.
Felix arrived at her place.
"Hi, pretty girl."
"Hi, yourself, handsome."
Felix played his blue kazoo for her. When he finished she gave him a round of apploze.
Marinette was impressed. She did not know he could play so well.
"Marinette, I have to tell you something."
"Yes, Felix?"
Felix stood close so close they were almost kissing.
"I have to tend to some things. I don't wish to leave. I have to, and I am not sure if..."
Marinette stood on her tiptoes and kissed him. She pulled away. She could see tears in his eyes.
"Marinette, I..."
"Felix, I will miss you."
Felix hugged her. He left but before he did he placed something under her pillow. He felt it best she read it after he left.
Later that night, she couldn't sleep. She turned on the lamp. She was sobbing.
She lifted her pillow and saw it. A single red heart. It was the fourth one from her soulmate.
Could it be? She opened it and felt the tears flow faster.
Dear Bluenette, my Marinette,
I hated to leave you. I never wanted to go.
It should not be this way.
My mother is dying, and I have to tend to her last wishes.
I am so sorry.
I never meant to love you.
Yet, ever since the day you bumped into me, I know then, I was right.
You are the one for me.
So, darling, I will do my best. I will do everything I can to make it up to you.
Love,
your soulmate,
Felix
Marinette whimpered. "Felix, it was you the whole time."
"I never knew."
"How did you send me the first letter before we met?"
"Why did not you tell me in person?"
She knew then that she loved him. She had not told him.
"Would she ever get a chance to say the words to him?"
Six months later, she looked up and saw him as he greeted someone.
She thought that it was it, I had lost my chance.
She turned to go.
"Marinette, wait!"
I spun around at the voice.
"Marinette, I am here. I am here."
I felt him reach out and touch my waist. I looked into his green eyes. I felt I was home at last.
"Felix, but I thought..."
"You thought what my beautiful darling, Marinette?"
"I thought the girl you greeted earlier was your girlfriend."
"Ha, ha, no silly. She is my cousin."
"There is only one girl for me."
Felix scooped her into his arms and kissed her. Marinette returned the kiss.
It was all she had hoped for and more.
She had the love of Felix.
Turns out her soulmate was not that bad after all.
The end...
Until the next Miraculous one-shot story,
bye-bye, little owlets!
Summer out!
