Description
Marinette was determined to find him. She knew she had looked before but she had to try one last time. She knew Adrien would want her too.
Marinette's POV:
I know it has been two years since he disappeared.
I can hardly believe it.
It makes no sense.
What could have happened to him?
Adrien Agreste I am sorry.
Sorry, I did not listen to you more.
I feel as if it is all my fault.
Every night I hear some creepy noises from the woods outside.
I know better than to tell anyone since they would not believe me.
I wait until tonight to investigate the sounds.
I must get to the bottom of it.
Time skip!
At 8 pm, I exit the house with two flashlights. This way, if one wears out the battery, I have a spare one.
I entered the woods where Adrien was said to have vanished.
I knew my parents forbid me to go anywhere near them.
I needed answers now.
What I saw astonished me!
I saw a trap made out of rope that was way up in a tree.
I could hear a whimper from it.
I shinned the flashlight towards it.
I saw what looked like someone familiar.
"Adrien is that you?"
I called out.
"Shh, Marinette, they will hear you."
I had no idea who the they he was referring to was, but I knew I could not leave him there.
I pulled the machete out of my bag. The bag I had brought with me and climbed the tree.
I cut a hole in the bag.
I climbed down rather fast.
I caught him.
I could see the shocked looks in his eyes.
"You caught me, M-Marinette!"
"That I did, Adrien Agreste."
I smiled as I gathered up the bag, put the weapon back inside, and handed one flashlight to him.
I held onto the other one and set him back on the ground.
"Come on Adrien, let's get out of here!"
"You don't have to tell me twice."
I ran out of there as fast as I could.
I felt him grab my hand.
Once out of the woods, I made my way back home. I let go of his hand.
I shimmed up the vines that led to my bedroom window.
Adrien followed me.
I made him keep quiet. I did not want my folks to ask any questions.
I closed the window, and locked it.
I climbed under the covers and drifted off to sleep. I didn't notice when Adrien lay beside me and wrapped an arm around me.
The next day, I woke up early. I got up, went into the bathroom, and changed clothes.
I heard Adrien whistle as I brushed and styled my hair.
"Oh, please, will you cut it out?"
"Nah, I will not."
"Ooh, and why is that princess?"
"Adrien, you are such a tease."
Adrien lifted my chin and kissed me. I felt his kiss at the corner of my lips.
I sighed. What was he trying to do to me?
"That was for rescuing me, I never forget when I owe someone. I owe you for the rest of my life."
I nodded my head.
I was too shocked to say a word about the kiss.
I waited til my parents left for a trip.
I recalled them saying they would be gone for two months.
I was relieved they did not know Adrien had stayed the night.
I went downstairs after they left, and made breakfast.
Adrien and I ate then watched some TV. It was summertime.
"How are my parents?" I heard Adrien ask.
I did not know how to tell him. I knew after he went missing his parents were never the same. His father went into a mad rage. He attempted to kill his wife by burning the house down. She had survived and filed for a divorce. She had left town, and Mr. Agreste had been put into the insane asylum. The servants trapped inside the basement were badly burnt, and with no way out died. Only after Mr. Agreste was taken away it was discovered that the basement door was blocked.
"Well, your mother moved a few years ago."
I knew he wanted me to tell him more, so I told him the hard truth. I hated to, but I could not lie to him.
"My father killed the servants, and tried to kill my mother?"
"Yes, I am so sorry, Adrien."
Adrien wept. I let him lay his head on my shoulder.
I knew it was a lot for him to handle after all he had been through.
Adrien's POV:
"Marinette, I am sorry."
"Sorry, why should you be sorry?"
"I was always a disappointment to my father even before I went missing. Mother was the only one who cared about me. I was supposed to go live with her. She wanted a divorce, but her father wouldn't hear it. So, I ran away. I did not plan to be gone so long."
"I found a dead deer. Then, later, I tried to find my way home. I got lost."
"Lost in the woods."
"I survived off a creek for water, and a few safe berries, some fish, and a package of nuts."
" I accidentally got stuck in that stupid trap and soon heard a bear."
"I thought the bear would get me. Then, it ran off and you came."
"Adrien it is okay. I am just glad you are alright."
Adrien sobs more. "I never meant to worry anyone, honest."
"Shh, I forgive you."
Marinette wraps the blanket around them and soon she falls asleep. Adrien thinks she is adorable. He turns off the TV.
Adrien thinks, what is Marinette to me? What am I to her?
It is not as if I ever said how I feel. I am not sure. I do know I would do anything for her. I would even die to protect her if it came to it.
I know she never kissed me, but in some way, I wonder what it would be like if she did. How would I react?
How would she react if I kissed her?
I held her close. I didn't want to let her go now that she found me.
Why did I feel as if I were finally home?
I got some sleep. I woke up to sobs.
Marinette was crying in her sleep. I brushed a tear away.
She woke up. "Adrien?"
"Yes, I am here."
"I am so glad I found you."
"I am glad if anyone found me it was you, Marinette."
I never noticed how her eyes glowed when she looked at me.
Could it be?
There was only one way to find out.
"Marinette, what am I to you?"
"A-Adrien, I was lost without you."
"Marinette, " I whispered. I kissed her.
I closed my eyes as she kissed me. It was so wonderful, I did not want to open my ears. I was afraid somehow the moment would fade away if I did.
"M-Marinette?"
"A-Adrien?"
"I love you."
"I love you too."
Time skip...
Two years later, I stood at the front of the church.
I smiled as my bride joined me.
I exchanged vows, and rings with her, kissed her, and was more than happy to have her as my wife.
My wife, wow, I loved the sound of that word.
"Adrien, and Marinette," Say cheese!
"Cheese!"
A few months later, I was at the hospital to witness the birth of our son Hugo.
A year later, Louis was born, and a year after that was Emma, a year later we adopted Elizabeth, then, adopted Lisa, and finally our son, Matt was born.
I thought nothing could make me happier.
Hugo graduated high school valedictorian. He married, Lavine, young in life, and he and his wife are expecting their first baby.
Emma is dating, Nathan. Elizabeth says she thinks boys disgust her, but I have seen the way, Hank looks at her. It is only a matter of time. Louis has his chess club but is also seeing Jessica.
Lisa is our child who loves to eat, shop, crochet, read, and do just about anything else.
Matt is the youngest, and can almost tie his shoes.
That is our family, and I couldn't be better off.
It is all thanks to you, Marinette, sweetheart because you found me. I found you. We found each other.
The end...
Until the next Miraculous one-shot story,
bye-bye, little owlets!
Summer out!
