Tbh, I was listening to One Call Away by Charlie Puth and I was seriously sitting in the car on the way back from the graduation ceremony and thought this story up, so plz enjoy this really lazy one shot.

Rain was by far not Marin's favorite weather. He had almost always forgotten an umbrella, not realizing how the weather would be by the end of the day. This was mostly caused by him rushing in the morning to get to school. He was quite sure if he would actually wake up on time, then he might actually check the weather and see what he needs to bring. But unfortunately, he wasn't one to wake up early.

But, this occasion was rare. He had actually remembered an umbrella today. With a text reminded from Alyn, that is. There was no way he would have remembered an umbrella without him. But this umbrella wasn't even his.

It was Adrienne's. The one she had given to him when they just became friends. The one in which he had accidentally pressed the button that shuts the umbrella, resulting in it closing on him. Not his proudest moment, but it had made Adrienne laugh, and that made his small embarrassment completely worth it.

He exited the building, saying his goodbyes to Alyn. Right before he went out into the downpour, he pressed the small button, hoping the umbrella wouldn't malfunction like it had before and close right back down on him. And even if it did, there was no way he would bring a different one; this one, as strange as it was, held sentimental value and he felt obliged to use it. It was technically a gift from Adrienne, so he was going to use it.

He felt worried though, seeing as Adrienne was absent today. Nina had told him that she was sick, but that didn't make him any less worried. In fact, his concern for the blonde only grew and he wondered how long she would be sick. He hoped it wouldn't be too long; he missed her. Even if he didn't ever talk to her, he missed her presence. He missed seeing her smile brighten the room. He missed her laugh resonating through his ears. Alyn said this was borderline psychotic, but Marin brushed him off.

He held the umbrella firmly in hand as he made his way to his house, which wasn't too far. He checked his phone and glanced through his notifications. He noticed a text from his mom, asking him if he could pick up some groceries on his way home, followed by a very short list of things he needed to get.

He quickly responded with a, 'yes,' and diverted his course to go to the market. This unfortunately meant that he would have to be out in the rain for a while longer, and he simply hoped that the umbrella would hold up with the rain coming down even harder than before.

"This would be easier to do if I were Ladybeetle..." He muttered to himself, averting his gaze to his bag, were Tikki popped out just enough for him to see her.

"Then why don't you transform?" Tikki asked, her small voice faint over the sound of the rain beating down on the cement.

Marin shrugged, "it doesn't seem worth it."

Tikki shook her head. "But what happens when you get sick? Come on, it'll be quicker. I really don't want you to be sick. It's not good for heroes to be unhealthy."

Marin sighed and nodded. He really didn't want to make Tikki leave the warmth of his bag and risk her being way too cold, but she had a point. "Alright, but I'll definitely make it up to you." He smiled and jogged behind a building where no one could see him. He quickly transformed before making his way back to his original route towards the store.

The trip took at least 3/4 less the amount of time than it would have if he had been Marin, and he was thankful for that. Of course, entering the store as Ladybeetle had drawn some attention from people. There was only a few people, some parents and a few kids. He had accepted taking pictures with most the kids. It instantly lifted his mood to have those kids so happy.

He made haste to get the things he needed and get out of there quickly, as he heard thunder start to roll in. He began to run, but was caught off guard when he turned the corner, coming in contact with someone else who was running. At this point, it was so foggy that he could barely see who it was. He could just make out certain colours. He could tell it was a female though, by the way she squeaked in surprise when they both fell to the ground into the puddles that had been built up on the ground.

"I-I'm so sorry!" The woman apologized, followed by a small sob. He could barely hear it, but he knew it was there. Was she crying? And why? She started to collect all the stuff that had fallen out of his bag and handed it to him.

Ladybeetle rose to his feet and then helped her up as well. "Are you alright, ma'am?" He asked, trying to make out who she was, but most of her hair was in her eyes and she was looking down.

"Yes, I'm just fine. A little rain never hurt anyone." She laughed, but it turned into a small sob.

"That's not what I meant." He grabbed the umbrella, which had fallen from his hand when they crashed into each other, and put it over her head to stop the rain from hitting her. At this action, she had finally looked up at him. He tightened his grip on the handle as he recognized her emerald green eyes. But the whites of her eyes were red, clearly from crying. "Adrienne. W-What's wrong?"

Adrienne let out a weak laugh. "Would you believe me if I told you nothing?" She asked, pushing her soaked hair out of her face. Ladybeetle shook his head. "I just... Mom being mom and she... She doesn't care about me." She looked up at Marin with desolate eyes. The tears were welled up in her eyes and dripping down her cheeks. The water droplets mixed with the rain drops on her face. "I don't know what else I can do. I do everything she asks of me, and she still doesn't even--"

Ladybeetle cut her off by hugging her tightly, but keeping the umbrella above her, even if some rain was beating on his own back. "I care. I care about you more than you know." He whispered into her ear, loud enough to be heard through the storm. "I'll always be here for you."

They sat there for a few moments, Adrienne simply sobbing in his arms. He was horrified that she had to deal with so many things and doesn't even get any appreciation from her mother. And that her mother expects so much out of her.

After the rain started to settle, Ladybeetle lowered the umbrella. Adrienne glanced at it and then a smile appeared on her face as she recognized it. "I'll call you later."

Ladybeetle was confused. "What? How do you plan on doing that? I never gave you my number."

"I'll call you." She simply repeated, hugging him before walking away.

And when Marin got a call from Adrienne later that night, he realized he had just outed himself to her. But the question still remained for him to answer; who was Chat Noire?
