"Listen up you two, there have been repeated sightings of the Lumière Malèfique members over at the old warehouse on Espèrer Street. This is a big deal, if we can break in and get photos of the stolen valuables in their possession, we can shut them down. You two are my finest combatants and it is necessary that you work together to gather information depicting the gang's schedule and security so that you can infiltrate the premises. There is a little bit more detailing of the entire situation in the folder you were both given. Check them out and process the information, if you find any patterns or leads you must contact me immediately so that I can update what we have. Any questions?"

Ladybug and Chat Noir looked at each other, then back at The Celestial Guardian.

"We're working together?!" They said in unison, turning to each other with a look of disgust at their synchronization.

"Absolutely, I want nothing less of perfection in this case and as I said, you two are my finest options. I don't care about your hatred or whatever's going on, you both need to work together to solve this. Get me the pictures of those artifacts and we can contact higher forces to aid us with the numbers we need to put all these verrückte where they belong. I don't want to hear another word of your bickering, understand?" The Celestial Guardian said with conviction, nodding to her assistant to escort the two amateurs.

"Yes Madame." They said, sneering at each other subtly.

Nicole led the two out the office, walking them to the weapons, utilities, and automobile storage units. The two picked the most useful items to their needs, coming to a bit of a disagreement over the vehicle of choice.

"Clearly we should go with the Ferrari 250 GT California SWB Spider....you're an idiot if you think anything else would accommodate us more efficiently", Adrien argued.

"You don't have to say the full name! This is the least inconspicuous vehicle in this room, not to mention the most rare car! Do you know how many people we would attract with this? It's insanity!" Marinette burst, pointing to the Aston Martin DB5 in the corner of the room.

Adrien gave a dead panned expression, immediately retorting. "And you don't think that would attract attention?"

Marinette was stumped, biting her bottom lip before dismissing the accusation. "Nonetheless, it's faster, smaller, more reliable, has the best intact weapons, and not to mention 007 himself used the car in his movies!"

"Oh great! So now were choosing our cars based off of legendary action movies!" He threw his arms up in the air, yelling at the ceiling.

"Will you just stop being so difficult and-"

"Oh, I'm being difficult-"

"Yes, you are-

"No I am not, miss 'I must always-'"

"Will you two just STOP?!" The assistant yelled, dropping her clipboard on the ground and slowly picking it up when silence came. She eyed the two for a moment, trying to convey her sever disapproval.

"I will not tolerate this behavior in such a detrimental case. The Celestial gradian chose both of you two in hopes that you would overcome your hatred to secure this success, and I will not simply stand by as you take all her hard work in gathering this info and gamble it for your own selfish purposes in obtaining a car! A car!" They looked at each other with concern, Marinette clenching her jaw at the visual contact.

This boy just rubbed her in all the wrong places and Marinette couldn't stand him! He was obnoxious, cocky, annoying, flirtatious, charming, intelligent, kind- why was she thinking that? He was just-

Just-

Something!

"I am demanding that you two clean up your act and work together like civilized human beings to fight for the greater good. And in the slight chance that you don't hearken to my warning, I will tell the guardian of your absurd behavior and pull you two off the case. Understand?!"

They both nodded at the petite woman, Adrien peering at the bluenette next to him.

He couldn't understand her. He was charming, handsome, everything that every woman would ever want. Not to mention rich! But her. Her. She hated him from the very moment their eyes first met, and he tried-oh he tried- to charm her, to flirt with her and sway her heart. But that woman would not budge! Thenceforth, he vowed to hate her as well, though there was no specific given reason. It's not as if she did something to really deserve that hatred, but neither did he!

"Understand?"

"Yes Madame!"

"Good, now choose your car without arguing, or I will simply just give you a Toyota mini-van, which I don't think either of you would care for", she smiled.

Adrien turned to Marinette sheepishly, caving in under pressure. "We uh- can go with your car Ladybug."

Marinette furrowed her eyebrows at his strange demeanor, smiling at her victory. "Okay! Thanks!" She grabbed the keys to the Aston Martin, addressing Nicole once in the driver seat. "Nicole, I think were ready to head out to see our designated steak-out location, I promise we'll be good."

"Don't mess with me Ladybug, you two behave yourselves, alright?"

Adrien swung into the passenger side, "Alright Madame."

Marinette pulled out of the secret exit, letting out a deep breath once away from the head quarters. Adrien shifted, a grin spreading across his face.

"So My'lady, just you and me... sitting alone in a car under the midnight stars-"

"Don't call me that, and don't be absurd! I would never do such a thing with you!"

Adrien chuckled, "Oh, okay just not with me, okay. Gotcha Marinette."

She gasped, eyeing him in the passenger seat while speeding up the car. "Oh, so your just going to throw away the procedure names and endanger my life, you never know who's listening! And that was not what I meant."

Adrien laughed. "Either that or your just mad that I know who you are and you don't know who I am!"

Marinette growled, slamming the breaks at a red light. "You wish!"

"Hey! Cool down! I don't really feel like dying right now."

Marinette scoffed, placing her head on the steering wheel, waiting for the light to turn. "You're unbearable", she whispered.

They drove on like that, small bickering conversations as they continued to the steak-out designation. Today's purpose wasn't big, just uncover details about security and shifting periods, all the good stuff. It was a typical location, a nearby mountain looking over the premises, easily seen with the aid of binoculars. Honestly, it was one of the most boring parts of working as a crime fighter. Or 'hero' if you will.

They had been siting there for at least two hours, nothing but silence. Adrien peered over at her, she seemed so focused, completely immersed in whatever she was looking at. Of course she had instructed him not to talk to her for the remainder of the day, but he couldn't stand it

"What normally happens when kitties go on a first date?" He beamed, a look of pure child entertainment displayed on his features. Ladybug was dumbstruck, clearly not expecting such a line from the cat. She set down her binoculars, eyeing down the ego that seemed to glow around him.

"What?"

"They hiss."

"My gosh your an idiot."

He giggled, thinking for a moment before introducing another line.

"How did the mom cat know she was pregnant?"

"Why do all of these seem somewhat scandalous..."

"That doesn't matter, just ask what!"

"What", she said, emphasizing the 't'.

"Her test was pawsitive!"

She could feel a smile tugging at the corner of her mouth and demanded herself to settle down. I must not show weakness to his adorable behavior.

"What do cats look for in a significant other?"

"Chat Noir..."

"A great purrsonality!"

"Do you know any other kinds of jokes?" She laughed, trying to get him to focus by peering back into her binoculars at the scene.

The air went silent and she considered looking at him, but decided against it.

He pursed his lips, thinking about his alternative jokes.

Yo mama jokes? Chicken jokes? Pick-up lines...

"What do you call a cow with a twitch?"

She rolled her eyes, still looking at the scene. "What?"

"Beef jerky", he stated with a serious face.

She slowly tore her gaze away from the binoculars, her serious face breaking when she looked at him. Cursed her love for dad jokes.

She chuckled, trying to keep her mouth from opening, twisting and biting her lips at the laughter in her stomach yearned for a way out.

He continued, "What do you call a cow with two legs?"

He didn't wait for her to answer. "Lean beef."

And again.

"What do you call a cow with no legs?"

...

"Ground beef!"

She laughed, "Okay, well do you have any that are not about animals?"

He thought for a moment. "What do you say to a hitch hiker with one leg?"

"What is up with you and missing body parts?"

"Hop in!"

She broke a smile.

"What do you say to a hitch hiker with no legs?"

"What", she asked with a smirk.

"Need a lift?"

He started laughing at his own jokes, which got her laughing, which led to both of them grasping for air at their stupidity.

"Wait another cow one! This one is relevant! What did the secret agent cow say to the other?"

"Oh my-"

"Are you udder cover?"

I'm sorry...I need to stop.

"Will you shush? We need to focus, and that seems to be something that your rather terrible at", she tried not to laugh. They needed to work, and he was probably the worst possible person to  rely on. His chuckles died down, and he turned to stare out the window. Not looking at the location they were suppose to be spying on, but at the nature around them.

This felt nice.

Maybe she isn't so bad after all.

His brain told him to play her game, to keep it professional. To not bother talking about more personal aspects of their lives, to not push her too far. He knew she would never tell him anything, that she would never fully open up to him. That their relationship could never be more than co-workers...or friends? But his heart betrayed him, and butterflies made his stomach churn at the possibility that he could be feeling more than just friendliness

She spoke softly, "I can't believe that your Adrien Agreste."

He turned sharply towards her, dumbfounded that she said his name. He didn't even know she knew. They weren't suppose to know.

At all.

It was a clear rule that if any combatants figured out another's identity, the person who's secret was revealed would be fired immediately. The company wanted to ensure safety to all employees and their families and it would be detrimental to keep them in case any dangerous people got a hold of their confidential information.

But they both knew.

And they were both in danger.

That's why Marinette hated that he knew who she was, that's why she regretted the day she drunkly decided to de-transform behind a bush in the middle of The Place des Vosges. She was put in danger of loosing her job and her family.

But then she panicked.

She needed some leverage on her enraging co-worker, and she stalked Chat Noir until she 'accidentally' saw him de-transform one day after one of his assignments. She meant to threaten him a while ago, but the opportunity never came. Now was one of the only times they have ever been truly alone, and she felt it was now or never.

"What-", he whispered, the air around them going still. Was it windy before??

He continued, "How did you find out?!"

"I may or may have not followed you to your home one day after your assignment and come to the realization that you lived in the Agreste mansion and therefore figure out that you were actually Adrien Agreste", she stated nonchalantly.

He blinked, sitting back in his seat. "Well, why in the world would you want to know?"

"I got scared when you found out my identity...and I thought if I found out yours, then you wouldn't tell the guardian about me", she said with a hint of guilt. "But even now, I still can't believe who you really are...you two are nothing alike at all!"

All of a sudden, a huge smirk spread across his features, a mischievous spark beaming in his eyes.

He has such a beautiful face.

"Well...I hope I don't disappoint."

I'm gonna murder this mother-

"Are you not at all worried?! About getting let go? About your family, or for heaven's sakes, even yourself?"

His smile loosened, the sweet and soft expression he now wore somehow making her heart beat faster. But that didn't matter.

"I don't really have much of a family. I do this job because it gives me a sense of freedom and if my father ever found out, I would be pretty much disowned. I mean, I would definitely miss this job though. You know, I don't know any other man that gets paid to sit in a car with a pretty lady for hours on hand."

"Don't do that."

"Do what?"

"Say stuff!"

He chuckled, "I don't know what you mean."

"You totally know what I mean! Don't think I can't see that look on your face. Yeah, that look! Stop it! I hate you."

He smiled wider. "I hate you too."

Then he winked.

And she threw up in her mouth.

Not because it was disgusting.

But because she wanted him to do it again.

"Can we just focus on the job?"

"Aren't we almost done?! This is so boring!"

"We're done when we find specific patterns in their security schedule, but it makes no sense because I haven't seen the same guy twice at all!"

"So why don't we follow a couple of them?"

She furrowed her eyebrows at him. "That's incredibly dangerous. And not to mention stupid...but I don't think we have much of a choice. I've been looking on the drone's camera every thirty minutes or so and I can see where the guards walk in to the building after they finish their 20 minutes in front of the back gate. What I don't know, is why are they going inside? Why don't they just circle around the perimeter of the building? And why are there never the same people outside?"

"Maybe it's just some kind of complex security procedure? They are the head mafia in all of Europe and I don't think they would settle for just any kind of safety precautions. If they do have those valuables that the Guardian is referring to as positive, then surely they wouldn't chance the opportunity for someone to suspect a certain guard in hopes of uncovering something."

"I think you're right. We should infiltrate, which route though?"

He smirked, "Oh, so your letting me pick the lead decision on this one, chief?"

She rolled her eyes, scoffing. "I think I like your other nicknames better, Kitty Cat."

"Is that so Bugaboo?"

"Don't call me-"

He bopped her on the nose, sliding out his passenger seat and peering down the mountain for a safe way in. Marinette huffed, stiffly closing her door as she walked towards him, making sure to scuff some dirt on his calves, but he only chuckled at her in response.

"Meowch, m' Ladybug's growing claws."

"Put a tail in it Chat Noir."

"That was kinda horrible-"

"You're kinda horrible!"

They focused, Adrien pointing out the route they should take and stealthily leading her down the mountain. They waited as the next shift of security guards came, following them whilst in the shadows to where they stood outside of their designated look-out spot. The two men would turn their heads from left to right every once in a while and Chat Noir mused that they behaved like security cameras more than security men. One of them looked pretty scrawny, like they had been in a coma for two years and just start physical rehab. The other was much bulkier, he stood with his chin held high as he spit in the same area every forty seconds. Adrien had to admit that it was kinda impressive that he could hit the same mark every time without having to look.

Ladybug looked at him, leaning over to whisper in his ear. "It's about time for them to switch...I think we should take this opportunity to hit them with a tranquilizer as soon as the door's unlocked. Then put on an outfit and try to blend in, I doubt anyone will care who we are as long as we are professional and doing our job. I got the camera and we'll try to see if we can locate any of the pieces we need to. Ready?"

"Ready."
