The Fight for Friendship
Adrien stood over her grave crying his eyes out.
"Why?" He asked himself over and over again.
Marinette tried comforting him, but he pushed her away.
"Please, to every god, master, elders, anyone... let me say goodbye one last time..." With each tear that ran down his face, a new pain would seer through his heart. "One last time... "
Marinette had gone home, feeling no use of trying to comfort the depressed boy who head told her previously that she was an attention seeking whore.
She couldn't tell that it was his depression speaking, or he really meant it.
Suddenly, a bright light blinded Adrien. He blocked his eyes to see the source.
There stood a marble. A glowing marble.
He picked it up.
"If you wish to grant a wish, then you must make it to the list. If thou does not make it to the list, then thou wish shall be missed. Bad luck shall spread, as your lips will never be kissed. But if thou maketh the list, then thou shall be blessed with luck of a ladybug. If not, the luck of a black cat and shall be loved like a slug."
Adrien stood shocked, slowly comprehending what the voice inside the marble said.
"T-the list?"
"If thou wish to make the list, then thou must compete others who also have one wish. If thou does not make the list, then thou surely will be dissed. Thou must train for years, must be reminded there will be many tears. Thou shall follow the path of El Grotten, and if not, thou shall be forgotten."
"When will I know it's time?" Adrien asked, narrowing his eyebrows.
"On thou's eighteenth birthday, shall though be in trial. Fight or flee, or stay forever in denial."
Suddenly, the marble stopped glowing.
"So I have to train for years, following the path of El Grotten, and compete against others just to make the list? And if I make the list, you will grant my one and only wish?" Adrien asked to no one in particular.
~~~*~~~
So for years, since he was twelve, Adrien had trained and trained. He was now seventeen, and in just a mere week will his eighteenth birthday come.
He had lost his friend Marinette when he was fourteen, thinking she was just seeking attention from his father.
His father was a famous artist and was told to me the new Leonardo De Vince.
Nobody remembered he had a son, not even his own father. So in effect, Adrien lived in a small apartment.
All by himself.
In the sometime in the years he was training, he happened to hear that Marinette's mother had passed, just as his had. He wanted to comfort the poor girl, but didn't want to do so in regret later on.
So he ignored her.
She had sent letters, of course, asking why he had Suddenly hated her.
He ignored those, too.
Anyway, Adrien was ecstatic that his birthday was a week away. Not for growing up, but for the competition. Adrien wasn't sure what kind of competition it was exactly, but he just decided to train like he was going to fight, and gain wisdom.
Adrien had developed strong muscles, physically and mentally. He went to the wisest people he knew and studied with them from night to dawn. He practiced fighting and boxing with the best boxers, gangs, and street fighters he knew.
Adrien felt unstoppable.
And, unfortunately, he let it go to his pretty little head.
{One week later}
Today was the day of the competition. He followed the path of El Grotten, just as the marble had said.
It was just an old road the seem to not end.
It took him to a open field, where he faced his competitors.
His heart stopped when his eyes landed on a particular blue-haired girl.
"M-Marinette?"
She turned, and gasped. "Adrien."
He shook his head.
There was a really old man who was putting people into pairs. But not to work together but to fight against each other.
And guess who got paired?
The infamous Adrien Agreste and Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
Adrien laughed at her tiny, frail arms. "Ready to lose, Dupain-Cheng?"
He threw the first punch, and Marinette let out a squeal as she ducked.
"Adrien, wait! This is not a actual figh-" she tried to warn him, but he still didn't listen. He threw another punch, which she almost didn't dodge quick enough.
"Fight back, you coward!" Adrien yelled.
"Adrien, please! Just listen to me!" Marinette pleaded.
"Never!" He threw yet another punch, but poor little Marinette didn't dodge it quick enough.
She got punched in the face, fell to the ground, knocked out.
"I win!" Adrien shouted, raising a fist in the air.
"Adrien Agreste!" A voice boomed. "You should have listened to the poor girl. This was not an actual fight. For now you have lost, and now you are disqualified."
Suddenly, the ground started shaking.
"W-what?" Adrien stuttered.
"This was a fight for friendship." A female voice said. "She tried to stay friends with you, but not for fame, but for your care. Foolish child you are."
"What's going to happen to me now?" Adrien questioned, fear rising in his chest. But then, he remembered what the marble said six years ago:
"If you wish to grant a wish, then you must make it to the list. If thou does not make it to the list, then thou wish shall be missed. Bad luck shall spread, as your lips will never be kissed. But if thou maketh the list, then thou shall be blessed with luck of a ladybug. If not, the luck of a black cat and shall be loved like a slug."
Adrien's heart sank.
"B-bad luck?" He murmured.
"Banish him!" The booming voice bellowed, and the world started shaking again. "You now have the curse of the black cat, and your friend now has the luck of the ladybug."
"N-no... I-I... I d-didn't... n-no..." Adrien stuttered, fear in his eyes.
"Don't banish him," a familiar female voice said behind Adrien. He turned around and faced Marinette, a red aura surrounding her.
He noticed a black one surround him.
Marinette took ahold of Adrien's hands, staring into his eyes.
"Let he who wishes, wish. Let him be on the list, and let me not receive one wish." Marinette smiled sadly.
Adrien stood speechless.
"Do you forgive this mortal? Will you give your life up to save him? For even if you do, he will still have the curse of the black cat."
Marinette nodded. "I forgive him."
"Then let it be so."
Nearly a second later, Marinette fell to the ground. "Marinette!" Adrien called, tears forming at his eyes.
"Make your one wish, boy. Choose wisely, quickly."
Should be bring his mother back, or Marinette?
Mother or Marinette?
His heart clenched. He knew what Marinette would want him to do.
"I wish that you bring back Marinette."
He knew what Marinette wanted him to do, but he didn't care. She ended her life for him, even after he was so cruel to her after all these years.
"As you wish."
Tears streamed down his face as he watched her body slowly rise, a Ladybug aura surrounding her delicate body.
She stood up and smiled. "Adrien."
He stared into her deep ocean blue orbs, regret and sorrow in his forest ones.
"Is it so that an unlucky black cat fell in love with the lucky ladybug?" Marinette asked, cocking her head to the side just slightly.
"Anything is possible, M'lady." Adrien responded, wrapping his hand in hers.
"Then let it be so."
Marinette wrapped him in a hug, feeling content with the day's end.
"I love you, Minou." Marinette pressed her forehead against his.
"I love you too, Marinette."
A roar of cheers developed all around them, startling the couple. They smiled as every three their fists into the air, screaming in triumph.
"How can someone with a heart of gold like you hold hands with someone's hands that are so cold like me?" Adrien asked.
Of course, he didn't actually mean that his hands were cold. He was saying how many cold works and acts that he had done were reflecting his behavior.
"With the power of love and luck on my side, I can do all things." Marinette giggled.
"Well, I don't need luck to do this," Adrien grabbed her waist and pulled her in for a passionate, yet slow kiss.
Marinette was shocked at first, but quickly recovered as she wrapped her fragile arms around his neck.
They each pulled away, desiring air.
"Will you be my girlfriend, Marinette Dupain-Cheng?" Adrien asked, hope filling his eyes.
"Of course, Adrien Agreste." And with that, she closed the gap between them.
~~~*~~~
Five years have passed, and now the couple was 23. They lived in a fairly large home, preparing for their wedding.
They had met many friends, but their best friends were Alya and Nino.
They had many close friends, such as Rose, Ivan, Kim, Mylenè, Alix, Juleka, Nathaniel, Marc, Sabrina, Max, and even Chloè, who had hated the couple.
They were all coming to the wedding.
Marinette say in her wedding dress, on he large bed in her room, Alya and all the other girls surrounding her.
"I'm so nervous!" Marinette exclaimed.
"You'll do fine, girl. Promise." Alya smiled, and the girls nodded.
And, in fact, she did better than fine. She did perfect. She had looked so beautiful that her future husband nearly passed out when he saw her, walking down the isle.
~~~*~~~
Two years after their marriage, they bought an even bigger home to start a family. Adrien and Marinette worked in a big designing company that they started. Marinette would design and Adrien would model it.
Now that they were 25, they had decided to have three kids, named Emma, Hugo and Louis.
Then they lived happily ever after.
~~~*~~~
"The end." Emma Agreste closed the book of old pictures of her mother and father, finally finishing telling the story to her husband and kids, Lolo and Lira.
They were twins, Lolo the boy and Lira the girl. It was her husband's idea to give them somewhat matching names.
Emma is 27 and her kids are 4. She is a proud mother, wife, and fashion designer just as he mother used to be.
Her mother and father retired and passed their gift into their children. Louis was pretty good at fashion and modeling, so he did both. Hugo, the youngest, had that angelic baby face girls fell in love with so he mainly stuck with modeling.
Her mother and father still lived to that day, in the same home from years ago.
The tale of the Lucky Ladybug and Unlucky Black cat was a tale that parents told their kids as bedtime stories. The tale had many fibs and lies in it, and only Emma, Hugo, Louis, and now Emma's husband and kids knew the real truth.
"Another story pleeeeeaaassseeee mommy?" Lolo asked. He was born two minutes after Lira was.
"Not this time, Lolo. You'll be tired in the morning, and then we can't go to the amusement park for you guys' birthday. " Emma smiled.
"Amusement park?!" The kids exclaimed.
"Oops, I spilled the beans." Emma giggled. She walked to the door, turned off the light, and slightly closed it.
She stood behind the door long enough to hear Lira whisper to Lolo, "First one to fall asleep is the winner."
She smiled. She loved her life with her kids and husband. She felt content and happy.
She felt as if it couldn't get better than this, until a knock was hear on the door.
She opened it to find her mom and dad, standing there, smiling.
"Hi mom, hi dad!" Emma exclaimed enthusiastically.
"Emma Agreste, as you know, your father and I are too old to do anything now. " Marinette chuckled. "We now give you the Miraculous of the Ladybug. You will use it for the greater good for the people of Paris. If it gets into the wrong hands bad things will happen. Can we trust you?"
It was all happening to fast. Emma smiled.
"I should've known sooner, that my own parents were Ladybug and Chat Noir. Yes, you can trust me. I won't let you down."
Emma puts the earrings on. "Who gets the cat Miraculous?"
As if on cue, he husband's voice rings in her ears.
"WOOHOO! This is amazing!" He exclaimed, dressed in a cat suit, landing behind her parents.
Emma laughed. Now, it definitely couldn't get better than this.
The End.
