I've Been Blind; Part 4
When school was finally over, Marinette and Adrien agreed to text each other when they got home.
Marinette laid on her bed, her thoughts swirling around her like snowflakes.
(Bold: Mari. Italics: Adrien.)
Soo...
Hey.
This is so crazy.
Indeed it is, m'lady.
I dont know how to feel.
Why's that?
I had the biggest crush in you since the second day we met! And when I finally decide that you would never like me in the way and I date someone else, i find out your Cat Noir! And that I still love you!
"Was that too much?" Marinette thought aloud. Tikki chuckled.
You had a crush on me?? I had a crush in Ladybug since the second day we met! I've been dreaming if dating you. But then Kagami gave me some advice: to switch targets. So that's what I did. But now I regret it.
I mean, at least we found out, right?
Yeah, but, now we can't . . . Be a thing. If you wanted to anyway.
My thumbs did a mini dance as I contemplated what to say next.
You're right . . . We can't just dump our dates and get with someone else immediately after.
You're right. It would be wrong. I never thought it would he this confusing... gosh, I regret asking Kagami out.
I'm sorry it had to play out this way..
But, what if we waited a few weeks before telling our dates we don't think it's working out...?
I thought for a moment. I sigh, my thumbs doing a mini dance before answering.
I don't want to do that to Luka... he's a really sweet guy, and he cares for me. I don't want to out you on the spot, but you really hurt me. Nobody was there for me but Luka...
I see the chat bubble, meaning he was typing. But then it disappeared.
I waited a few minutes. Nothing.
Then it said he went offline.
I sigh.
He really left me on read. Wow.
I decide to give him a double text.
I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that.
I was about to add to the text when he replied.
No, you did. But I understand. I'm the one who's sorry.
I frowned. I hurt him...
I guess I'll talk to you later then.. sorry again.
Bye.
I turn off my phone.
"How can Adrien Agreste be Chat Noir?" I say to myself.
"Fate has a funny way of playing with people." Tikki responds.
"It sure does," I close my eyes. "Hey, Tikki?"
"Yes, Marinette?"
"Did all the other Ladybugs and Chat Noirs get together?"
"No. Some of them didn't even meet each other behind the mask, and they married different people. Some of them did meet, but didn't marry. And others, one fell in love while the other didn't."
I bite my lip.
"Thanks, Tikki."

{3rd POV}
"Plagg?" Adrien calls. "Did the past Ladybug and Chat Noirs ever marry?"
Plagg swallows some camembert. "Nah."
"So what happened to them?"
"Some of them didn't even meet each other behind the mask, and they married different people. Some of them did meet, but didn't marry. And others, one fell in love while the other didn't."
Adrien covered his face with his hands. "Maybe it isn't meant to be, then..."
"You have to choices," Plagg started. "You can either be a good friend and go to her wedding with Luka and support her no matter what, or you can be that annoying guy that won't let her go and eventually get a restraining order on you and develop depression and live alone and die lonely."
Adrien stared at Plagg.
"What? I'm only speaking the truth."
Adrien shakes his head. "Nevermind, Plagg."

{Later that night}
Ladybug and Chat Noir head to the Eiffel Tower to meet. They arrive at the same time.
"Hey." Ladybug said quietly.
"Hey, Ladybug." Chat replied, his ears flat against his head. Ladybug nervously bite her lip.
"Look, I'm really sorry Chat, It's just how I—" Ladybug started but Chat Noir cut her off.
"No, you're not sorry! I spent all this time chasing after you, trying to show you that I loved you, and only you! Then you give up on me— Adrien— and start dating Luka! You didn't even like him when you guys started dating!" He shouted at her.
Ladybug shut her eyes, fighting off the tears. "P-please, Chat, I'm actually sorry. I didn't want it to end this way."
One of Ladybug's biggest fears was losing her beloved best friend, partner, supporter.
"Yeah, neither did I." He said coldly. "Shame for me to say that things will never be the same between us."
This was it. She had lost her partner. She felt like her world just collapsed in a matter of seconds.
"D-don't say that... p-please... I can't lose you..." she stuttered.
"You already did." Chat Noir started to leave, but Ladybug grabbed his arm.
"Don't leave!" She shouted at him, her eyes still shut tight. "I can't lose you too!"
For a moment, Chat Noir hesitated before going back to his cold demeanor.
"Who else did you lose?" He asked, releasing himself from her and glaring at her small, shaking figure.
"I-I... I lost my father yesterday... he got into a car accident and... and..." The poor girl couldn't finish her sentence. Her legs gave out from under her, and she burst into a series of sobs.
"I lost him... he's gone! And the akumas kept trying to get me. It's hard without him, Chat! Please don't leave me too!" She pleaded to him, finally opening her eyes to look up at him.
Chat Noir froze, feeling his own tears beginning to form. He grit his teeth, shutting his eyes.
He knew what it felt like to lose someone that you love dearly. He lost his mom just a year before; yet he still wasn't over it. He knew Marinette couldn't get through this on her own or she would end up like he did: depressed and suicidal. He didn't want that
He opened his eyes, and bent down next to the crying girl. He let the pools at his eyes fall.
"I'm sorry." He muttered quietly, wrapping his arms around her. She hugged him back, squeezing. She hid her face in his neck, clutching onto him like she will lose him if she lets go. And, looking how things were, she probably would.
"I never intended on hurting you," Chat Noir said, his voice quavering. "I didn't know. I... I just thought you were scared of me..."
Ladybug hugged him tighter. "I'm sorry I did this to you."
Ladybug took a deep breath before pulling away. Chat saw that her nose was red, her eyes were red and puffy, and her mascara was running.
"I'm sorry I did this to your beautiful face," he murmured.
He brushed away the strands of her that found a way to her face, and tucked it behind her ear.
He cupped her face with both hands.
"Chat..." Ladybug trailed off.
Slowly, they both leaned in. Their eyes closed.
Then there was no more space between them. Their lips connected, Ladybug on her tiptoes and her body pressed up against his'. They both felt a new, amazing way of breathlessness. Ladybug ran her suited fingers through his messy hair, deepening the kiss.
They both needed it, and they both knew it; they've been hurting from each other's rejects for too long, and they needed to let it go.
Finally, Chat pulled away for air. He gazed into her eyes.
"I promise that I'll never hurt you again knowingly," Chat Noir said.
"Me too."
They spent the rest of the night at the edge of the Eiffel Tower, gazing at the city lights below them, cuddling into each other's arms.
They were happy.
They were content.
But they still had one more thing to do.
~~~*~~~
The next morning, Adrien and Marinette explained to their dates that due to complications, they didn't think it would work out.
Luka totally understood and hoped Marinette the best. He hugged her and promised to stay friends. He said he would support her no matter what and that if se ever finds a new love interest, that he hopes he gives her what she deserves. Marinette gave him a kiss on the cheek before saying thank you and goodbye.
Kagami, on the other hand, smiled sadly and gave Adrien a kiss on the cheek. She told him she'd miss him and that now that they weren't together, she was going to move back her hometown. Adrien was happy that things went smoothly until right before she left, she said, "Good luck finding someone better than me!"
Adrien rolled his eyes. Already did, he thought.
In the evening, Chat decided to pay his princess a visit. Right before he knocked, he saw her hugging her knees on her bed, crying. She was talking to her kwami.
His eyes filled with concern as he knocked thrice times on her window. Marinette wiped her eyes before opening it.
"Hey Kitty." She said quietly, looking down.
Chat Noir frowned. Suddenly, he swept her off her feet and held her bridal style.
He took her up to her roof with him.
"What're you doing?" She asked him.
"Cheering you up." He replied simply.
Then he hopped to the next roof, and the next. He used one hand to take down her hair, letting it flow in the wind.
Finally, he landed on a flat roof. It was a normal roof, nothing special. He put down Marinette.
"What're we doing here?" She questioned him, crossing her arms over her chest and raising an eyebrow. She was feeling sad and moody and was in no mood for going anywhere. She must wanted to sit in her room and cry her eyes out in her pajamas.
Chat Noir walked to the corner of the roof where she noticed a fairly large brown basket with a red blanket with black spots neatly folded sitting on top of it. He picked up the blanket and laid it out before picking up the basket and setting it in the middle.
He sat down and motioned for her to sit across from him.
Chat Noir's goal was to at least get a smile on her face. He opened the basket and took out a two wine bottles that said Sparkling Cranberry, to glass cups, and sandwiches with baguettes for the bread.
Marinette was speechless. She just quietly watched him.
He handed her a sandwich and opened the thermos. A carbonated dark red liquid poured out into the glass cups.
He handed her a glass before taking his own.
"To the saviors of Paris," he smiled.
Finally, a small smile formed on her lips. "Cheers," she said before clinking her glass against his.
They both took a sip. They began eating their sandwiches, talking about simple things.
When they finished, Chat smiled. His timing was perfect.
"Come sit next to me, but close your eyes," he said and she obliged. When she sat down, he placed a big, red heart-shaped box with a pink bow on it in her hand. She held it curiously.
"And now, open your eyes."
She did, and gasped. Forgetting what was in her hand, she saw the most perfect view of the sunset. It was breathtakingly beautiful. Then she looked down, remembering the strange thing in her hands. She smiled, pulling off the satin bow and opening the box.
Inside where two dozen raspberry filled chocolates. Her favorite.
She looked up at Chat, her eyes wide.
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
Marinette's jaw fell slightly, gasping quietly.
She smiled. "Yes, Chaton."
Then they sealed it with a kiss.
La fin.
~~~~~
Okay. I have something to confess...
I still ship Ladynoir and Marichat. I can't give it up. I'm sorry. I ship it as much as I ship Lukanette. I just don't ship Adrienette (although they're the same people). Anyway, I decided not to end it tragically as I was originally planning, teehee.
Hope you all enjoyed~ I had fun taking months to finish this lmao ♥️❤️🙃
Anyways, bye~
