23: You don't have to live in fear
A|n remember this chapter will be in Adriens POV.
I hesitated infront of the girls bathroom which Marinette had ran into.
I needed to know why Marinette was upset and in pain. She wouldn't want to bother anyone with her worries, but I knew that Luka had hurt her, and i needed to show her that someone was there for her.
"What are you waiting for?" Plagg piqued in, as we stood infront of the door.
"It-its the girls bathroom. I can't just walk in!"
"Do we really need to have this conversation again? If camembert was on the otherside of that stall, i would not even hesi-"
"Okay, Plagg! I get it." I responed.
Just as I went to reach the door, it burst open, sending me flying into the wall.
A person walked out.
Her hair had grown into a very long ponytail and she wore a black bodysuit. A needle in hand. Her skin was alarmingly pale and her eyes were black holes.
Despite all this, I knew that she was Marinette and Hawkmoth had gotten a hold of her.
Anger radiated from me in waves. How dare anyone corrupt Marinette? She was the most innocent and caring person I knew.
Marinette hadn't even noticed me as she stomed past, a black smokey aura following her trail.
I was frozen with just the shock of it all, until I heard screaming from some nearby classrooms.
I shook my head and stood up. I needed to change into Chat Noir in order to save Marinette.
"Uh-oh..." Plagg mumbled taking in the situation and knowing whats next. "Couldn't we just let her wreak havoc for a bit and take a break. It wasn't that long ago we had to deal with Truth Sayer."
"Plagg, claws out!" I yelled out and transformed into my black cat alter ego, Chat Noir.
I dashed down the hallway, dodging the hordes of students trying desperately to get away, screaming their heads off.
When I saw the terror they were running from, I really wished that I could join them.
Marinette was taking her sewing needle and sewing peoples mouths shut, only allowing slightly muffled screams to escape as blood dripped off their chins and onto the floor.
This was serious horror movie fuel.
"Marinette!" I called out to my akumatized friend.
She looked directly at me before opening up her mouth and screaming loud ebough to shatter the glass on the classroom windows.
"Ow!" I winced, covering my ears.
"Give me your Miraculous!" Akumatized Marinette growled, her voice sounding scratched and sore.
"No way! Marinette, you can fight this. I know you can!" I told her. I was still in shock.
Marinette wasn't the kind of person that just gets akumatized.
"I. Am. Not. MARINETTE!" She screamed getting louder and louder. "I'm SCREAMSTRESS."
"Uh, yeah sure." I needed to break through to her before she could hurt anyone else.
People were still scrambling to get away, their mouths sewed shut, and screams muffled.
I needed to separate her from the people.
"Your Miraculous, now!" She screamed at me.
"Yeah sure, okay." I smiled at her. "But you have to catch me first!"
I covered my ears as she screamed again and charged at me.
I narrowly avoided her needle as I dodge to the side and jumped through and open window and into the school's courtyard.
I heard another scream and the she was hot on my tail.
Where was Ladybug? I wondered, surveying the area. Normally she would have shown up by now.
I couldn't do this without her, she was the only one who could cleanse an akuma.
I shook my head, I was going to have to try and save Marinette by myself for right now.
She chased me for five or six blocks straight, cornering me in an abandoned alleyway closed with a tall brick wall as a dead end.
Great.
Looks like I would have to fight my way out of this one. But I didn't want to fight Marinette...
"Cataquism!" I yelled, feeling a rush of power to my finger tips. The next thing that I touched would crumble and fall into nothing more than a pile of ashes.
I wrenched my arm back ready to wreck the wall before me, but something slammed into my fist.
Seamstress had thrown a rock at me, hitting my hand. She had heard my power up and came with a way to stop it.
Now I really was cornered, and now I had a five minute time limit before I would detransform. Way to go Chat Noir.
I needed to find another way to defeat her, and I needed to do so fast. It didn't seem like Ladybug was coming anytime soon.
"Please, I know you have been hurting and that you feel helpless, but I am here for you." I begged her.
I saw the hesitation form in her steps as she approached me.
Yes! I'm getting through to her!
"I know that whatever happened to you, was incredibly terrible, otherwise you would never have felt the need to give in to the akuma. You don't want to hurt anyone, you just want people to know your in pain, and I do! I really want to be there and help you Marinette."
"You do?" She asked, her voice was surprisingly soft, almost back to normal.
"Yes." I replied taking a step forward.
"Luka did something awful to you, and I can't even begin to imagine what that was and how you must feel, but you are not alone, and never will be as long as I am around."
I saw a couple of tears drop from her eyes and she slowly lifted her hand up and snapped her own needle in half. A black and purple butterfly fluttered away as Marinette slunk to the ground.
"Wh-what happened?" She asked.
I closed the gap between us and kneeled down to hug her.
"I need to follow the Akuma so Ladybug can find it whenever she decides to show up, but I promise I am here for you princess." I whispered in her ear before kissing her forehead and taking off.
I needed to keep tabs on the akuma so it wouldn't attack anyone else or go back to Marinette before Ladybug had a chance to cleanse it.
However the akuma didn't really go away, it just flew up too high to be reached.
It was waiting for an opening to attack Marinette again.
Even though the akumatized Marinette was probably Hawkmoth's strongest villain yet, she was able to break the spell he had over her with a few sweet words.
I looked down at Marinette who was still slumped in defeat, her hands over her face.
"Hey," I whispered, crouching back down next to her, still keeping an eye on the disastrous butterfly.
She moved her hands just a little bit, so that she could see me.
"I was serious. I am here for you." I told her.
"Is it bad that I wish I was still akumatized?" Marinette whispered. "All I remember was how angry I was and how amazing and powerful it felt to take out that anger on the nearest thkng. There was no pain and it felt good to be feared and to know that the pain I felt, others got to feel it, that now I truly am not alone."
I looked at her, trying to think of a response.
"Why do I have to always be responsible? Why do I always need to be perfect? Why do I feel the need to change myself so that I can impress and please others? Why do I have to be such a pushover?" And then she was sobbing into my shoulder as I hugged her close to me.
I didn't realize we had been like that for awhile, until I detransformed.
"Wait- Mari, don't look up yet!" I yelled trying to jump away.
However it was too late.
She was staring at me, eyes wide open, and jaw slightly ajar
Marinette Dupen-Cheng was officially the first and only person who know knew the secret of Chat Noir's secret identity, me, Adrien Argest.
