The Yearbook by Summer Cheng (@SummerCheng37)

 Description

Luka is going- through his yearbook pictures and spends more time looking at the senior high and first-year college photos. He wonders about the identity of a cute blonde girl in the back of the class.

   Luka's POV:

As he looks at the old yearbook photos, he notices many people have signed it. However, one autograph stands out more than the others; it is written across the picture of a lovely girl dressed in yellow, black, and white. He can't help but smile when he sees the name "Chloe Bougerious" written in bold letters. He blushes as he recalls his first kiss with Chloe Bougerious, the mayor's daughter. After all these years of not seeing her, it is silly to feel this embarrassed.

He checks her Facebook to see if she's married or has children. Luka does not realize it, but Chole checks his Facebook account to see if he's married or has children.

Luka smiles when he sees her status is unattached. Chole sees his status as unattached and finds herself smiling.

He checks to see if he has a number to reach her. He sees the numbers 558-656-9570 scribbled in the back of his yearbook with a bee symbol next to it, and the words, "Call me anytime, you hear? Love Chole Bougerious."  Hot Diggity dog, he thought. He dialed the number and was surprised when he heard a female say, "Hello, Bougerious residence, how are you?"

    "Hi, Chole is that you?"

"Yes, but who may I have the pleasure of speaking to?"

"It is Luka Cuffaine, I know you might not remember me, but..." He began. "Remember you, how can I forget the cute boy who sat next to me in gym class?" Chole interrupted him.

"wow, I am surprised you remembered me," Luka said.

"I am surprised you remembered me after all this time," Chole remarked.

Luka and Chole talked for hours. Around midnight, Luka said, "Chole it was great, talking to you, and reminiscing about old times, but it is late. Good night."  "Ah, yes, that is Luka, good night." Luka heard the click sound in his ear that signaled she hung up.

The next day, Luka texted her...Chole let's meet up.

Chole texted Luka...sure, say 7 o'clock, you pick the place.

Luka texted her back, 7 o'clock at Andres'?

Chole texted him, "Andres it is then."

Chole blushed as she thought about the date with Luka. Why she should make such a fuss over it she was not sure. Then, again, Andre had a way of setting up couples.

At 7 o'clock, Luka and Chole meet at Andre's as agreed.  They both walked over nervously to where he had his stand.

"Ah, Luka and Chole, what might I get for you?" Andre asked.

Luka shrugged his shoulders. Chole did the same.

"I see, then, for you young man, Lemon for her hair, blueberry for her eyes, and a tad touch of peach and chocolate sprinkles," Andre said handing the cone to Luka. Luka took a bit, surprised at the even blends of the sour, and sweet.

Next, he handed Chole a cone with Mint for his hair, some odd green apple flavor for his eyes, and peach, and chocolate sprinkles.  Chole took a bit. Surprisingly it was good.

The two held hands as they finished the ice cream. Neither noticed when an old lady waved at them. She nodded her head as if in agreement with what she saw.

Luka and Chole went to the bridge. Luka placed a lock in the shape of a bee there. Chole connected another lock in the shape of a snake to the bee lock. Then they carve their initials on the locks.

As they overlooked the view, Chole grew cold from the ice cream, the wind, and the lack of a jacket. It seems she had forgotten hers. Luka saw her shiver and offered her his jacket. Chole took it.  Luka heard her sigh.

"What is the matter?" He asked. "N-Nothing, it is just too wonderful to be true," Chole said.

"Chole it is true, as true as it is that I should have asked you out years ago," Luka confessed. "I should have told you years ago how much you mean to me," Chole confessed. Luka laughed. Chole did the same. The two realized in that moment, how silly they had been to let what others thought get in the way of their happiness.  From here on out, they wouldn't care to let others keep them apart.

"Chole will you be my girlfriend?" Luka asked.

"Yes, I will, Luka, my handsome," Chole answered.

"I am glad you said yes, "Luka said with a smirk.  "Oh, and why is that exactly?" Chole inquired. "So I can do this, "Luka said.  He held her close and kissed her. He kissed her as he should have the first time they kissed.

Chole was taken aback, but soon she wrapped her arms around his neck. She returned the kiss and basked in the scent of fresh dogwood trees, and lemons.

 The end...

Until the next Lukaloe one-shot story,

 Bye-bye, little owlets!
