Similar Interest by Summer Cheng (@SummerCheng37)

Description

Luka steps into the bookstore and bumps into someone. The girl walks off in a huff.

   Luka's  POV:

    I  watch her walk away.

I thought well, she sure is rude.

I select the mystery book I was after.

"Hey, I was going to check that book out."

I notice the twinkle in her eyes.

"You are kinda cute," She says.

        I blush.

        I  give her the book.

"Uh, miss you want it so badly it is yours."

      I  grab the next book.

Great it is number 6 in the series and I have yet to read number 5.

I wonder what has gotten into me. Why did I just give her the book?

It is not like I ever met her before or owned her anything.

I go home feeling so confused.

I never knew she could have the same interest as me.

I mean she surely did not look it.

Then again looks were not everything.

     I smiled.

It seems I had a challenge up my sleeves.

A very pretty challenge, I might add.

I  read the book I checked out.

It was good. Too bad, it did not tell me where the previous book in the series left off.

I handed over the only copy of the book I needed to some girl just because she had gorgeous golden locks,  and blue eyes that sparkled like the waves at sea.

I was starting to sound like some love-sick boy.

The next week, I returned the book.

      I saw her again.

This time I checked out the book from the previous time and she checked out book number six.

"Hey, what is it about the series that stands out to you the most?"

"I beg your pardon," She remarks.

"What stands out the most in the books?  Is it the detective, or what?"

"I would say the way the detective pretends he can not stand his assistant when he obviously has feelings for her and the way they solve crimes together. It is so exhilarating."

        I was impressed.

      I asked her out.

I found out her name, was Chole Bougerious.

I made sure to introduce myself, "Luka Cuffaine."

I shook hands with her.  We left the library together and went out for coffee.

I saw that she nibbled out of the muffin.

I was amazed at this woman. First, she likes the same series as me and now she eats a muffin like it is a delicacy.  I am enjoying a bagel with cream cheese with my coffee.

"Well, Luka it is been real. I do hope we see each other again."

"Same, here, Chole it was nice meeting you."

I  pay for the coffee and food despite her protest. I also help her with her jacket.

I walk her back to her car.

I wave to her as I climb into my car.

It might have started out as any other day, but it ended far from it.

Yes, you might say my similar interest was a fine thing indeed.

     the end

Until the next Lukaloe one-shot story,

  bye, bye,

little owlets!

Summer out!
