Let Her Go! one-shot by Summer Cheng (@SummerCheng37)

Description:  Luka goes to visit Chole. He cannot wait to see her.  It has been two years since they last spoke. It was because her father paid him off. He feels guilty that he took the money and left her.  He can only hope he is not too late.

     Luka's  POV:

I  went the long route. I did not want to risk anyone recognizing me and stopping me.

I was on a mission.  To make things right with the woman I loved. I only hoped she could forgive me.

Little did I know what awaited me when I arrived at her place.

I  pulled into the driveway and parked around back.

I  rang the doorbell and heard shouting noises inside.

Who was it that argued with her?

I heard a loud, bang noise.

"No!" I shouted in fear. I grabbed up a loose brick and busted open a window.

I reached inside and felt a hard blunt object.  I climbed into the room without a thought about my safety. All that mattered at that moment was Chole.

I heard sobs as Chole shouted, "Please, he has nothing to do with it. Leave him alone."

I charged at the creep as he had Chole in a tight hold.

The other hand held a sharp knife with blood smeared across it.

I  felt pain in my left hand. It was then I released the knife that had grazed me.

"Let her go!" I yelled as I cringed in pain.

"You will have to fight for her if you want her back."

"Luka, run!  It is a trap!"

The bad guy tried to plunge the knife into me when the door swung wide open.

               "Russ, drop the knife, now."

I looked up to see the sheriff.

I   watched as Russ let go of the weapon.  To my horror, he refused to lose his grip on Chole.

Russ pulled out a rope and slowly wound it around her neck.

"No!"  I yelled despite the pain.

I ran back towards him and kicked him hard in the shin.

Russ lost his grip on her. He looked at me in a livid manner. "Bring it on, if you dare."

The sheriff hit Russ with one bullet as the creep attempted to hit me.

Russ slumped over dead on the group.  I  knew it was far from over.

I  removed the rope from Chole.  Her breaths were slow and uneven.

"Chole, I am sorry, I left you.  Please, do not die, babe. I need you."

I held her in my arms with tears in my eyes. I refused to let her go.

Chole choked.  She gasped for air.

"L-Luka, you came back. I knew you would."

"Chole, you are alive!"  I kissed her.

                                   "Luka, you are under arrest."

"Daddy, he saved my life.  I know you never liked him. I know you paid him to leave me, but that was years ago. He is back now, and I intend to keep it this way."

The sheriff scowled but knew his daughter was right. He did not have anything to hold against Luka anyway. He supposed he might as well be happy for them.  It seemed he had misjudged the guy after all.

"Well, if he makes you happy, I suppose that is all that matters."

"Good, because he makes me very happy, daddy."

"You take good care of her, you hear me, son?"

                                        "Oh, yes, sir."

Two weeks later, I convinced Chole to marry me and her father approved. I was surprised since never had liked me in the past. I suppose this goes to show even the stubbornest of fathers can have a change of heart.

Well, that it is, that is the story of how I finally got the woman I loved.

                       the end

until the next Lukaloe one-shot story,

                    bye-bye, little owlets!
