From Parents to Superheroes
"No," Marinette lectured, a stern frown pointed towards her kids. "We are not watching TV during dinner. Dinner is a-"
Her eyes flickered to the window where an akumatized villain shot through the gloomy streets, effectively cutting off her lecture. "I... just remembered I had a meeting," she lied. "I have to quickly go and pick some things up from the office for it."
She patted Emma and Hugo on the head, kissing Adrien on his cheek. "You can take care of them, right?"
Adrien opened his mouth, but immediately closed it. "Of course."
"Thank you," Marinette apologized. "I'll be back as soon as possible." She dashed out of the door.
Adrien watched her disappear into the fog and turned around to his kids, grinning. He, too, had spotted the villain.
"Gotta split," he winked. "Or this'll be a pur-oblem."
Emma and Hugo laughed. "See you later, dad."
*~*~*~*~*
Ladybug scanned the area, her eyes landing on the akumatized villain. After one short battle had already taken place, she was exhausted.
"Where is that damn cat?" she muttered.
She heard a whooshing of metal followed by a clank on the wet asphalt. "Right here, milady."
Ladybug whipped around. "What took you-?"
A sharp ringing cut through the air, effectively silencing Ladybug. Her frown turned into an expression of confusion. "Who could be calling at this hour?" she pondered.
Chat shrugged as she picked up the phone.
"Hello? Emma, sweetie are you okay?"
Chat's eyes widened. Was Ladybug's daughter named Emma too?
"Say WHAT now?!" Ladybug yelled, her fist clenching around the yo-yo. "I need to have a word with your father." She hit the off button with such violence, Chat suddenly felt lucky that he wasn't Ladybug's husband.
"What happened?" he asked, concerned. "Your husband?"
Ladybug nodded, gritting her teeth. "He left the kids alone! What kind of father would do that?"
Chat gave a sheepish grin. "I did that with my kids," he admitted. "But I'm sure they'll be fine. You should go ahead and have a word with that husband of yours."
Ladybug gave a curt nod, turning back to the yo-yo. She punched in the numbers, once again making Chat flinch, and held the phone up to her ear.
Immediately, Chat's baton rang.
Ladybug raised an eyebrow and gestured for him to take it, turning back to her conversation.
"Hello?" Chat asked, his voice speaking simultaneously with the one on Ladybug's phone. The two superheroes glanced at each other, eyes wide.
Chat gulped. "Ladybug... Who's your husband?"
The voice echoed on Ladybug's phone.
"I- he's- nah it's not possible," Ladybug steadied herself, placing a hand on her chest. She ignored her voice coming from Chat's baton. "Adrien Agreste... He's my husband."
Chat released his transformation, refusing to meet Ladybug's eyes. "Hey, Marinette..."
"Adrien..." Ladybug marveled, her voice softening. She held his gaze for a few moments before remembering the situation. "You idiot!"
Her eyes burned with rage, fury evident in her voice as she released her transformation.
"How could you leave Hugo and Emma alone?!" she yelled, punching his shoulder.
"Meowch," Adrien muttered, suppressing a grin. "I needed to help you! Besides, they were fine the last few times."
Marinette curled a fist. "The. Last. Few. Times?" she seethed.
Adrien's smirk disappeared. "They- uh..."
"Marinette," Tikki chided, flying out from Marinette's navy cardigan. "The villain's still out there."
"Right," Marinette remembered. She shot a glare at Adrien. "This isn't over," she reminded, sighing. "But... let's go get that villain."
*~*~*~*~*
When Marinette and Adrien walked through the house door, their kwamis floating by their side, clapping from their kids ensued.
"They finally found out!" Emma cheered as Hugo ran up and threw his tiny arms around Marinette's legs chanting, "Mommy!"
Marinette smiled. "Hi sweetie," she cooed. She turned to Emma. "You knew?"
"Of course," Emma agreed. "We knew about both of you. We are your kids after all."
Adrien laughed, putting an arm around his wife who shrugged it off and shot him a stern glare. "Why didn't you tell us?" she scolded.
Emma shrugged. "We told Dad, we knew he was Chat Noir. But we never really got the chance to tell you that we knew you were Ladybug." She paused, digesting their expressions with a smirk that could rival her father's. "I found Tikki once when I was looking in your room for your diamond necklace, Mom, and Hugo found Plagg once when he was searching in your room for his stuffed toy, Dad."
"Right." Marinette bit her lip. "Emma, take your little brother to your room. And don't think I missed out on that part about my diamond necklace."
Emma grinned and dragged Hugo up the stairs. "Come on, we can play with the dolls!"
Marinette raised an eyebrow, remembering the Ladybug and Chat Noir dolls she had given her kids. "Maybe that's not such a good idea right now..."
Adrien stepped forward, locking eyes with Emma. "It's fine," he disagreed. "You two go play. Your mother and I need to have an adult conversation."
Emma nodded, dashing up the stairs.
The moment the kids had disappeared from sight, both adults began demanding answers.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Marinette asked, her voice wavering.
"Well, what should I have done?" Adrien demanded. "If you weren't Ladybug and I told you I was Chat, how would you have taken to marrying me? Everyone knew Chat Noir had a huge crush on Ladybug!"
Marinette turned as red as her Ladybug costume. "Well, I guess so," she admitted, ignoring her pounding heart. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you either. I just didn't want you to be disappointed. The great Ladybug actually just being the introverted, klutzy Marinette? Yeah, no thanks."
"What?" Adrien asked, surprised. "You're kidding right? If everyone thought that of you, Marinette, would you really be married to moi?" He struck a ridiculous pose.
Marinette stifled a few giggles which soon grew into full on laughter. "You really are Chat Noir, aren't you."
"With and without the mask," Adrien agreed. "And the same goes to you, milady. I married you for all the reasons I loved Ladybug, plus more."
"Are you still in love with her?" Marinette teased, stepping closer to Adrien.
Adrien grinned, wrapping his arms around Marinette's waist. "Oh I'm so in love with her. I'd shout it out to the whole world if she asked me to."
Marinette placed her hands on Adrien's shoulder. "Is that so?"
"Mmhmm," Adrien murmured. "I'll do it right now." He leaned close, his breath tickling her neck. "I love you."
"That's not the whole world," Marinette argued, but the smile on her face grew.
"That's because," Adrien began, pulling her close. "You're my whole world."
