VI - Behind That Mask

(Sorry if you don't like the music. It was French and I liked it so I thought it matched with the whole scenery. Plus it's super vintage and it makes me very happy. LOL. )

There where people scattered everywhere in pairs, dancing to the beat of the live vintage music in the background. Long tables of finger foods are laid all over the place. Long, flowery dresses covered almost half of the floor. Literally. It was a party. Even better, a masquerade party. Many people had danced along with their friends and lovers.

Marinette entered. Her hair was let down with loose curls swaying back and forth. Her black and red flowed downward to the red carpet. Her hand covered with her black gloves touched the railing on the side. She had made a grand entrance for herself. Everyone had stopped to stare and the famous Ladybug. The one that was focused around the most.

All the ladies had curtsied and the men bowed. A blush crept across her face along with a small smile. She looked around the room trying to find Chat. As she walked down the red carpet, an arm linked theirs with hers. She looked over to see Chat Noir right beside her.

"Hello, my lady." He said with a smile. Her blush got deeper. Marinette had to admit. He looked handsome. His hair was slicked over to one side and was wearing an all black suit with a green shirt.

"W-Where have you been? I was waiting for so long." She said stumbling over her words. Chat Noir would have told her the truth, which was that he spent an hour or so trying to figure out how to part his hair. All he replied was "Duty calls."

She rolled her eyes and the duo finally reached the bottom step. He took her hand and she greatly accepted it. He bowed to kiss her hand.

"May we dance, princess?" He asked with a bow.

"Certainly, kitty." She replied. He held her hand and took her to a open space. To her luck, there was one in the middle. They slow danced their heart outs. Sure Marinette messed up from embarrassment, but she was having fun and so was Chat Noir. That's what really mattered to her at the time. Happiness.

After a few songs, they had decided to stop.

"Let's go to the balcony for fresh air, Kitty. It seems to be getting more and more crowded by the second." He nodded. Still holding their hand, he led her to the balcony. It was a beautiful scenery. Plants where blossoming on the sides as the stars shined brightly and illuminated their skins. The music could be heard faintly, for the doors where closed

They started to dance again, but this time it was even slower. They felt so happy with each other. Heck, Marinette had fallen in love with Chat Noir. She loved his flirty remarks, his green eyes, his fluffy hair, everything. There was something about him that made her fall in love with him more and more each day, each hour, each minute, and each second.

"You look beautiful tonight. Especially your hair." He said looking away with a blush appearing across her face.

"You don't look so bad yourself, charmer." She said with a smile. Her face got so close to his. Their noses almost touching. He wanted to kiss her, so bad. Her flirting was just too much for him.

"My lady... I mean Ladybug. I have to confess something to you." She tilted her head to the side, wanting him to continue.

"I'm in love with you. Everything about you. You make my heart ache and my stomach turn. From your black hair to your red heels. You're so beautiful, Ladybug." He pressed his forehead against hers. Marinette was in complete shock. It was happening. This was happening right now. A dark blush that could rival against her ruby dress appeared on her face.

"But... I just have to know, who are you under that beautiful mask of yours?"

She took his hand and intertwined her fingers with her lover. She knew that today was the day their identities will be revealed to one another. In a beautiful time, beautiful place.

"Together. Let's take them off together."

He nodded, holding on to Marinette with a firm grip.

"Okay... Three..." Marinette started.

"Two..."

"One..."

She took off the mask as well as he did. They where theirselves. In their own mind and skin. They looked up at the same time. Smiling towards each other. This was how it was suppose to be. How it was suppose to feel. Happiness.

"I knew it was you."

"I knew it was you." They said in synch.

Marinette blushed with a big grin on her face. Adrien couldn't help himself anymore. He had to kiss her. He leaned down and surprised her with a soft kiss on the lips.

Marinette's eyes opened widely. Is this a dream? She thought to herself. 'No... This is real life.' She smiled in the kiss and happily kissed Adrien back.

The two parted.

"I love you too, Adrien."
