• Treat you better •
Marinette had broken up with Adrien 2 days before he proposed. Of course she didn't know. Adrien was heartbroken, destroyed. What happened? They're more than fine. That's why he wanted to propose; he loved her with all his soul and heart and she did too.
But there was something under the table that he didn't know Marinette was hiding. She thought it was going to better if Adrien didn't know.
Wrong.
Horribly wrong.
"M-Marinette.." Adrien stuttered at the bluenette whom he'd bumped in the park. A few weeks later after their break up.
"Hi.." She greeted shyly, looking down... embarrassed? He couldn't tell, her voice sounded empty and afraid. Her skin was pale, and her eyes were puffy. Then his gaze landed on the side of her neck—cuts.
"Is everything alright?" He asked softly as his hand tried to reach her neck. Hint tried.
A red-headed, slipped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her back. "Keep your hands to yourself Agreste." He hissed, pressing the bluenette to his side tightly as she clutched her eyes afraid.
"And why will I listen to you?" Adrien hissed back but his heart hurt seeing Marinette like this. And why was she like this? She looked afraid of Nathaniël. And that burn him.
"Because I'm her fiancé, right baby?" He cooed seductively, biting Marinette's earlobe and gripping onto her hip. She whimpered but nodded slowly looking down.
Adrien felt the biggest bang on his chest. They've been together 4 years and now he was planning to propose. But them, they've been together 2 weeks and they already engaged? Besides that, Marinette was acting strangely afraid, something was missing here.
"Now if you excuse us, we have wedding things to set. Have a good day Adrien." Nathaniël pulled Marinette with him. As they walked away, Nathaniël grabbed Marinette's butt, she tried to push him away but he say something that made look down again.
Adrien blood boiled in anger. And sadness. He knew he could treat her better. Much better. He couldn't bear to see her like this.

• One month later •
The night was quiet and cold. Winter time. Adrien was cuddle up in his couch watching some Disney movies. The fact that Marinette had left his life didn't mean he couldn't carry old habits. Such as watching movies Friday's nights.
His cat, plagg, purred against his lap. He chuckled, softly rubbing the black cat's head.
The doorbell rang throughout the empty Mansion, Adrien sighed tiredly but stood up to get it.
Who could it be at this hour? It's freezing outside
He gripped the knob to open it.
When he open the door, nobody was there. But he felt something touch his leg. He looked
down expecting that it was plagg.
Marinette gripped onto Adrien's leg, shivering madly. "M-Marinette! Oh my god! What the hell are you doing outside in this cold!" He shirked, cupping the shaking bluenette in his arms. He closed the door with his leg and placed Marinette on the couch. Wrapping her with blankets. As she could only shiver.
Her lips were purple and her skin was alarmingly pale. Without even mention all the hickeys and bruises and cuts -which were also blue and purple- that were everywhere in her body. "A-Adrien please h-help me." She whispered harshly.
Adrien was a mess of feelings. He was dead worried yet happy too. He got to see his lady before getting marry. At the thought, his heart sank again.
"Tell me, What's wrong? What is all this?" He gestured towards all the scars on her arms and the hickeys in her neck.
She started to cry uncontrollably, sobbing terrified. Adrien quickly brought her close to him, hugging her gently. Carefully. Like she was the most important treasure in his life. Something delicate; like if something blew at her, she'll fall apart. He still respected the fact she was a almost married woman.
"Please listen to me, you're all I have left." She whimpered, tenderly hugging him back. "Don't be mad at me." She placed a soft kiss on his cheeks and he froze.
"Nathaniël.. h-he's abusing me..-"
"WH-.." Adrien open his mouth to yell something but she quickly placed her finger on his lips. At her touch, he froze. So he could feel every second of her warmth.
"Listen please.." She begged, he nodded.
"I was obligated to marry him. I didn't want to leave you, not today not ever." She cupped his big hands -compared to hers- and gently stroked them with her thumbs."But I'd no opinion. Not like this."
Marinette slowly lift up her overside shirt, to revel, well, a bruised bump.
Adrien gasped and almost fell backwards. "Is it his?" It more like hissed than a question.
"Y-yes..-"
"So you cheated me Marinette. This like a 6 month old belly." He backed away hurt yet his voice didn't show it.
"I didn't Adrien! Lila called me to her house to discuss the dress materials for her wedding dress. Last thing I remember was when she give a cup of wine, that of course she'd drugged, and she shove me on Nathaniël's room." She explained desperately, reaching for his hands again.
"He took advantage of me Adrien... His parents threatened mines, that if I didn't marry him, something was going to happen to my parents . I couldn't that happen." Marinette cried as she buried her face on Adrien's strong chest.
She gripped onto his shoulder tightly, "He told me he was going to kill me before the wedding Adrien." Marinette allowed a dreadful cry escape her lips as she rubbed her head deeper onto Adrien chest. Sobbing frightened.
Adrien sat there dumbfounded, blinking a few times. But still held her comfortably, tenderly, sweetly; as he always did. Until his soul touch earth again. He pulled away from hug and grabbed her chin gently, changing her gaze to meet his. "No! I'll never let that happen.. Don't worry princess. I'll never let anyone hurt you." Adrien brushed a kiss on her temple, and hugged her again; feeling that missing piece rejoined his heart again.
He lay besides her and wrapped his arms around her waist and chest carefully. Holding onto her tightly. He'd lost her once, he wasn't going to lose her again.
