NOTE: MAMA AGRESTE IS ALIVE IN THIS ONE SHOT
"Not again!" Marinette moaned annoyed, touching slightly the nail marks on her neck. Sabine had grabbed her by the neck, stabbing her nail onto Marinette's skin just because she forgot a cheese wrapper on the floor.
Marinette wrapped a scarf around her bruised neck. "Thank God it's winter.." She mumbled, bringing her backpack up her shoulder.
The digital clock on the stove read 5:20 in the morning. School didn't start until 9 but Marinette just couldn't wait to leave her house. Especially before her parents woke up. Silently she made her way to the fridge, grabbed a sport bar and a bottle of water. Closing slowly, she rushed out of the house.
Her mom was very strict when it came to cleaning. In other words, Marinette was her maid, the house had to be spotless or else she'll pay the price. Also, her dad made her work without a paying at the bakery. They both beaten her up if her work was not done.
Cold wind blew in Marinette's face, her cheeks became red from the cold and her lips turn purple. Yet she couldn't care less, her body has been placed in worst condition. Like right now, she'd a sprained ankle, scars all over her neck. Her skin was so pale she looked like a ghost. And she was so skinny. Awfully skinny. You could see her rib cage and spinal cord. Nobody knew about her conditions, nothing about her. Honestly nobody seem to care about her that deep.
Well, expected for one blonde. Adrien.
He has been paying attention for a long time. Watching her every move; stalker much? Maybe. Not in his eyes at least— not in a creepy way anyway. Just caring.
The school's gate were closed. Marinette groaned, slumping onto the bench besides it. For her luck, snowflakes started to fall from the grey clouds which started to cover the sunrise, orange-like sky.
"Great. Just great!" She grumbled, tossing the untouched sport bar in the trash can.
The cuts on her started to sting because of the fierce wind blowing against her weak body. She sighed, unwrapping the scarf on her neck, and rubbing her cuts.
"Marinette?" A tender, masculine voice called for her.
She snap up, her eyes winded. Trying to find to scarf but it flew away with the wind. Marinette whimpered, cursing her self for not wearing a turtleneck.
"H-Hey Adrien!" She waved awkwardly, trying to hide her neck with her other hand. "What brings you here?"
"Um it's Monday? School silly," he looked amused but the concern was still floating around his eyes.
"It's 5am, school doesn't start until 9 silly," She laughed softly, her hand tighten as his eyes wander over it again.
"Is something wrong?" He asked softly, coming closer as she backed up in the bench.
"Nothing's wrong!" She blurted out. Waving her hands on front her.
"Marinette! Are those nail marks?!" He whispers harshly, Marinette groaned internally for the, so smart, move.
"No," she whispered. Looking down, the ground suddenly being more interesting than their conversation.
The pressure of everything was pushing against her in that moment; begging for her to tell another soul. Her eyes sting from the lack of sleep, her cuts burning like wild fire. Her stomach growling for decent food; her bones aching inside of her.
"Y-Yes.." She chocked out, tears escaping her eyes without a stop. Her body even too weak to cry, she lost her balance, Adrien was quick to catch her.
Guilt and concern slapping him hard. Yet it helped him wake up and swear to himself to never let it happen again.

There's no doubt that day Adrien took her to the best doctors in Paris. Also called the authorities. It appears on the news as Marinette's parents were being cuffed and carried away in a police car.
Adrien was currently holding Marinette's hand as she slept on the hospital's stretcher. Rubbing her knuckles with his thumb softly. The beeping of the heart monitor driving him crazy; the nurses coming almost every minute to inject her, making him dizzy.
"Mr. Agreste?" A voice called softly. He looked up slowly, his heart feeling so heavy.
"Yes?" His voice was raspy for the lack of speaking.
"I just wanted to address something that's worrying me," she told him. The worry in her eyes made him fear the worst. How much damaged has this two parents done? To their own daughter! Adrien sighed at the thought, not wanting to go angry over something he couldn't change.
"May I?" She asked, gesturing towards Marinette's gown. He nodded slowly, growing uneasy. The doctor slowly removed the top part of the gown.
Adrien breathed out relieved when he saw she was wearing a lace black bra, but still felt uncomfortable. Cursing under his breath, his eyes sting from the desire of looking over her chest. But he ignored it
"You see here," she pointed at Marinette's ribs which peek out of her paper-like skin. "There's a tiny twisted bone, she must be in horrible pain since that bone pokes her every time she walks or turns around."
Adrien bit his lip, great! Another thing to add to the guilt list. And suddenly flashbacks flooded through his mind every time that Marinette flinched or limped. He took her hand to his lips and planted a warm kiss. "I'm sorry m'lady," he sighed deeply. Rubbing his cheek against her cold hand.
"What do you recommend?" Adrien asked concern.
"Well, I'll recommend immediate surgery."
She replied. Fixing the Marinette's gown once again.
"Do what you must, please."
"Yes, Mr. Agreste. Just keep in mind this a painfully surgery plus expensive." The last part she said unsure. She knew that Adrien could buy the whole damn hospital if he wished to.
He nodded, she left.

Just a couple of minutes after they took Marinette to the emergency room, for the surgery. There was a soft knock on the door, Adrien only hummed. Not turning around, laying his head on Marinette's empty stretcher. But her warmth and scent was still lingering around it.
"Honey?" His Mother worried voice made him turn around, he played a small smile on his lips for his mom.
"Hi Mom," his voice raspy and deep like he'd just woke up.
Nicole pursed her lips sadly at her son's behavior. She walked closer, placing her hands in his shoulders reassuringly. "Oh baby don't worry. She'll be fine."
"That's not what worries me," he sighed. "Well is part of it."
"What is it then honey?"
"She's so hurt mom. Physically and Emotionally, she's so unstable right now. I'm afraid that when I'm not there, she'll... she'll"
"You don't have to say it."
"Kill herself."
