Loneliness Can Lead to Wreckless Behavior

Pt. 2

.

Marinette arrived back at her house, still in disbelief. She couldn't even begin to process what the hell happened.

She didn't even know how she ended up in that situation. She and Adrien drifted away somewhat after they graduated. They still talked, but it wasn't the same as when they were younger. If she recalled correctly, she hadn't seen him in weeks prior to him asking her to come over that first time.

She agreed, wanting to see him and missing him terribly. She was still in love with him. Maybe that's why she ended up in bed with him.

She enjoyed it in the moment but felt heartbroken when he moved on from it the next day as if nothing had happened. Still, she went back to him whenever he called.

She desperately wanted their relationship to progress. She hoped he'd ask her out eventually. She was ecstatic when he took her out on what was essentially a date. She bought new fabric and made a new dress for the occasion. She hoped this was the turning point she was waiting for.

But a baby?

That threw her off entirely. No "I love you," or even "I like you," were exchanged. He didn't refer to her as his girlfriend. He introduced her as his friend at the show. The only times they hung out ended up in sex. Neither Nino nor Alya were aware of what was going on. It was only between her and Adrien.

As desperately as she wanted there to be more, there was no indication that they were any more than friends with benefits. So she didn't understand why he suddenly asked to have a baby with her.

Maybe he was drunk. None of it made sense to her. It was too much for her.

He kept trying to call her, but she didn't pick up any of his calls. This was too emotionally overwhelming.

She's wanted a family with him since they were in collège. But this? This was insane.

She still couldn't wrap her head (or heart) around the fact that he was willing to get her pregnant then and there. The thought sounded foreign.

Did he just want to be a dad? They were both still in college. She still lived with her parents. They weren't in a relationship. Nothing about their current situation said they were ready or in a good position to have kids.

That's not even with the added fact that she was Ladybug.

Marinette turned off her phone before collapsing in her bed. She didn't bother to change or take off her makeup. She just wanted to go to bed.

.

When she woke up, she turned on her phone to see multiple missed calls and text messages from Adrien.

Most of his texts were apologies and begs for them to talk about it.

She still wasn't sure how to feel, but she figured she should talk to him. She wouldn't understand his thought process or why he said what he said if she didn't talk to him.

She texted him back, letting him know that she could come over later. He replied right away, saying that was fine. Marinette wasn't sure what she was going to say, but she didn't want to leave things unanswered.

She stood outside his door once again, feeling nervous. She didn't know where this was going.

Adrien opened the door, looking like he hadn't gotten any sleep.

"Come in," he said, moving out of the way. Marinette stepped in and walked to the couch. She sat down without saying anything.

Adrien looked at her nervously before closing the door and sitting next to her.

They sat in uncomfortable silence for a few moments before Adrien spoke up.

"I-I'm sorry. I shouldn't have sprung that on you."

"I just want to know why?"

He avoided eye contact, looking past her.

"It's just... my apartment is so cold. I thought it was just living in that mansion, but it's here too. I realized that the only times it doesn't feel like that is when you're here."

Marinette stared at him in surprise.

"When you're here, it feels like a home."

Home? She felt her heart begin to race and her cheeks redden.

"I figured if we had a baby, you'd be here. But now that I think about it, it's kind of stupid and that was reckless of me," he grimaced.

He wanted to have a baby with her so she could be around him more?

"I completely understand if you-"

"I love you," she blurted out.

"What?" Adrien stared at her, blushing.

"Oh, fuck, sorry, I, um-" she began to panic. "That was so awkward, I am so sorry."

"You love me?"

Marinette nodded.

He felt his chest warm up. Is that what he's been feeling? Love?

Oh.

Oh.

It clicks in his mind now. He's in love with her. That's why his apartment feels warm when she's there.

"I love you too," he replies.

"Wait, really?" she asks, her eyes widening.

He smiled and nodded.

Marinette jumped into his arms, giving him a tight hug.

"We're both so stupid."

"I don't know how it didn't click in my mind," he replied, hugging her back. "I genuinely feel like an idiot for just asking you to have a baby with me out of nowhere."

Marinette pulled back and looked at him, "You know you could've just asked me to come over more often. You didn't have to escalate it to us having a baby for me to do that."

"Yeah, I realize that now. Sorry about that."

Marinette gave him a peck on the lips. "It's ok, we can talk about it. I do want children, just maybe not yet."

"I understand," he nodded.

"But we can practice making some," she grinned.

Adrien laughed before picking her up and taking her to his room.

.

Happy ending for these two idiots in love
