When they're sad
Marinette-
She sulked into the classroom and lay her head on her desk. Alya looked over at her, confused. "Hey girl, what's wrong?"
Marinette sighed. She didn't want to talk about the fact that she completely bombed the test in chemistry.
"Nothing," she mumbled.
"Come on," Alya pushed. "You can tell me. What are friends for after all?"
Marinette pushed herself up and stared at her friend. "I failed the chemistry test and I don't think I'll be able to handle the disappointment from my parents..."
"Girl, everyone failed that test," Alya told her, squeezing her shoulder. "We were all unprepared, that substitute didn't care. There's no reason you should be sad over it."
"I know," Marinette mumbled, "But I've never gotten a bad grade in my life."
"What's going on?" Adrien asked curiously, turning around in his seat. Marinette avoided his gaze, for she was embarrassed that she was on the brink of tears.
"Marinette got a bad grade on that chemistry test and she's being hard on herself," Alya explained.
"Everybody did bad on that test, Marinette," Adrien told her. "Don't give yourself a hard time."
Marinette looked up at him, and he was smiling at her reassuringly. She felt her cheeks heat up. "Yeah, but whether or not everyone did bad, that's still going to make our report cards look bad," Marinette said, falling back into the depths of sadness.
"Maybe we can tell the principal," Alya shrugged. "It'll be okay."
Marinette nodded and smiled, the idea sounding nice. "Thanks guys. I feel better already."
Adrien smiled again and then winked at Marinette before turning back around, nearly causing her to faint from happiness. Alya chuckled at her starstruck friend. "Oh, Marinette..."
Adrien-
"Okay, father. I understand," Adrien mumbled into his cellphone, and then snapped it shut. Plagg bursted out of his pocket.
"Everything okay?" his tiny friend asked.
Adrien shook his head, and started walking back into the classroom. "Yeah. Things like this always happen."
He sat down in his seat, and Marinette frowned sadly at the back of his head. She whispered to Alya, "Poor Adrien."
Nino patted Adrien's back comfortingly. Adrien's dad was supposed to show up to present a project with him, but like always, he was busy.
The bell rang, and everyone sprang up out of their seats except Marinette, Adrien, and Nino.
"You sure you wanna stay here?" Nino asked Adrien.
"Yeah. I just need time alone," Adrien mumbled to his friend.
Nino nodded and then walked out of the classroom, leaving Marinette and Adrien the only two behind. Adrien didn't know Marinette was there, however. She hid behind her desk and the only thing exposed were the top of her head.
After a few seconds, Adrien sighed and stood up, slinging his bag over his shoulder. He began walking away, leaving the nervous but concerned Marinette behind. She wanted to reach out to him, but didn't know how.
Once he was out the door, Marinette raced out of the classroom, and nearly trampled on students walking by. "Sorry," she apologized, then tried looking for Adrien. When she was around people, that seemed like the easiest time for her to talk to him.
Marinette looked and looked, but she couldn't find him. She sighed in defeat. He needed a shoulder to lean on. Oh well, Nino would help with that.
"Hey," Alya said as she walked up to Marinette. "I couldn't find you at first. Ready to go to lunch?"
Marinette nodded before looking around her one last time. She put on her best fake smile. "Yeah," she replied. The two began walking to lunch, Adrien's hurt expression imprinted on Marinette's mind.
Alya-
"S-someone hacked my Ladyblog?" Alya voiced out in disbelief as she sat beside Marinette in her room.
Marinette's eyes widened. "What?! Who would do that?"
Alya shrugged and frantically scrolled through her phone. "I don't know, but my data is gone!" She flopped onto the bed in sadness. "My Ladybug data is gone!"
"No way," Marinette exclaimed in shock and grabbed Alya's phone to take a look for herself. She knew how much the Ladyblog meant to Alya, so it crippled her heart that someone would hack it.
When the search revealed that the Ladyblog had in fact been hacked, Marinette shared in the sadness. "Alya, I'm so sorry that happened. Is there any way we can fix it??"
Alya lifted her head, her eyes wet with tears. She shook her head sadly. "There's nothing we can do. It's gone. All of my hard work and getting captured by villains was for nothing."
Marinette crossed her arms and began to think. "Maybe we can contact the company behind the website and ask if they can restore your work."
Alya shrugged. "I tried calling them, but they were busy. It's no use."
"Let's try again," Marinette said, determination in her voice. She picked up her phone and looked up the company number. She dialed it and waited for it to ring. When no one picked up, she sighed and set the phone down.
"See, I told you no one would pick up," Alya mumbled.
Then, a ring came from Alya's phone, and she looked up in alarm. She picked it up quickly. "Hello?" she asked.
Marinette blinked a few times at her friend and tried to focus her hearing on the conversation.
"Yeah," Alya said into the phone. "Uh huh. That's correct."
Alya gasped loudly. "Really? Oh thank you!"
Marinette smiled, and Alya continued talking. "Okay. Thanks! Bye."
"Did they fix it?" Marinette asked.
"There's only way to find out!" Alya exclaimed through a smile. She swiped on her phone and she held a hand over her mouth. Marinette feared the worst and inched over to her friend to look at the damage.
Instead, Alya shrieked in happiness and Marinette saw that her Ladyblog was restored. "Yes!" Alya happily yelled, and then hugged Marinette. "Thanks girl!"
Marinette laughed. "No problem. Glad I could help!"
