Thoughts on Adrien Agreste? PART 1
Alya pulled out her notebook and scribbled down some information about physics. Marinette sat beside her, scrolling through her phone.
Alya glanced to her right, noticing that the raven-haired girl was in another world by the look on her face.
"Girl!" Alya yelled, snapping her fingers in front of Marinette's face. "I didn't come over to your house just to watch you on your phone. We have a test tomorrow, remember?"
"S-Sorry!" Marinette said abruptly, a faint blush of red on her cheeks. She placed her phone down, a small smile pulling at the corner of her lips.
Alya raised an eyebrow in interest, immediately dropping her pencil. She leaned in closer to her friend. "Judging by the look on your face, I'd say you just saw something related to Adrien. Spill the deets."
"Well..." Marinette trailed off, smiling foolishly. She couldn't hide her excitement. She was so ecstatic, so she started squealing. "HE REPLIED TO MY STATUS!"
Alya opened her mouth in awe. "Really? What did he say?"
"I said I was really afraid for the Physics test tomorrow and he said, 'I'm sure you'll do fine' with a little smiley face! EEEP!!"
"Girl! That's awesome!" Alya laughed, shaking her friend encouragingly.
"I think I'm gonna faint," Marinette breathed, her eyes slowly fluttering closed. She flopped back on her bed, staring at the ceiling. Alya laughed amusingly.
"I wish I could tell him how I feel," Marinette sighed sadly.
Alya ceased her laughing and frowned, the atmosphere taking a big turn. She wanted to help her friend so bad. "Maybe you could- no," she thought indecisively. "Or what about... no that wouldn't work either."
Marinette covered her face with her hands and sighed loudly. "Forget it. I'm such a wreck around Adrien, there's no way I could ever tell him how I feel. I'm just a failure. I have so many, they should be recorded and documented on a TV show. There'd be like thousands of episodes."
A light bulb suddenly went off in Alya's head. She smirked as she devised a new plan. Marinette wouldn't be aware of this, but the brunette was positive it would work without her knowing! She just needed to be very careful...
"Say, why do you like Adrien so much?" Alya asked, trying to act very clueless. Her fingers curled around her phone, blindly unlocking it.
"Is that even a question?" Marinette asked defensively, peeking an eye out from behind her hands.
"I just wanna know. What's so great about him? You never actually told me you know," Alya shrugged, stealing a quick glance down at her phone so she could open the camera app.
"Well, I guess I could tell you," Marinette sighed, sitting up.
Bingo.
Alya smirked and clicked the record button, and then set her phone flat on the table. She continued meeting Marinette's gaze as she took in a deep breath.
"First of all, he's very handsome," Marinette said shyly, as if hearing herself say it out loud was embarrassing. "And a gentleman. I remember after school one day, I fell down the steps and he was there to catch me at the end of them."
"Uh huh," Alya nodded, trying to act as confused as she could. "Go on."
"And," Marinette continued, standing up and getting excited just thinking about the wonderful boy. "He's really funny and super supportive. He stood up for me when Chloe was insulting my Uncle's soup."
Alya peeked at her phone to make sure it was still recording. She could not risk the chance of losing any of this precious information.
"Plus, he's the most genuine person I know. He never lets his fame and fortune get to his head. And he's very patient when it comes to Chloe. I don't know how he puts up with her all day."
Marinette took in a big breath, staring out the window of her room. She smiled warmly just at the thought of Adrien. Her sun; her light. The most amazing person she knew. She was honored just to even know him.
"But most of all, he's so kind," Marinette sighed dejectedly, placing a hand on her chest. "When he... gave me the umbrella," she whispered.
"Nice," Alya smiled. The look on Marinette's face was priceless. She was so tempted to point the camera at her face so she could record the reaction.
Carefully, Alya lifted up the phone and pointed it directly at Marinette's face, who was standing a few feet away from the table now, reminiscing as she looked out the window.
"I still have the umbrella," Marinette said suddenly, breaking the silence and causing Alya to jump. The brunette sat the phone back down quickly enough so Marinette wouldn't see it out.
The raven-haired girl wandered over to her mirror and pulled out the infamous umbrella from behind it. Alya looked at it in awe. She remembered Marinette telling her the story about it but never saw the actual thing in person. It looked like an enchanted object, the way Marinette handled it so carefully.
"I still have this, even though it's been roughly a year and a half," Marinette smiled, admiring the umbrella. "I never use it because I don't want it to get lost or broken."
"That's so nice, girl," Alya said sincerely. It then clicked in her head; that umbrella meant so much to Marinette for different reasons. It was given to her the day that she and Adrien met and it symbolized their profound relationship.
"So, I guess that's pretty much it," Marinette laughed quietly, propping the umbrella back up against the wall. She made eye contact with Alya, a smile pulling at the corner of her lips, and shrugged. "Those are my thoughts on Adrien Agreste."
Alya silently turned her phone off, her mouth still open in awe. She wanted to cry. She wanted to scream. She didn't know what to do! The brunette had heard such a beautiful speech from her best friend and it was so touching to her.
"Give me a hug right now," Alya demanded, tears welting up in her eyes. She stood up from her seat, walked over to Marinette, and engulfed her in a hug.
"Okay," Marinette chuckled, patting her friend on the back. "But what's wrong?"
"Nothing," Alya said, wiping the stray tears from her eyes. "Your speech just blew me away. It was so beautiful."
"Thanks," Marinette said softly. "I guess that's what happens when you talk about people you love, you just get all sentimental." She then sat down in her swivel chair and reclined back in it. "And thankfully for me, those exact words will never be heard by anyone else," she sighed happily.
"Heh, about that," Alya said sheepishly, pulling out her phone. "I maybe, kinda, sorta, recorded your whole Adrien spiel."
Marinette's eyes blew wide, like she was just hit with a bright pair of headlights. "WHAT?!"
"I know! I just-- I wanted to get you saying all that stuff about Adrien so I could show him! So you and him could finally be together!"
"No, Alya!" Marinette whimpered, jumping out of her chair. She reached for the phone in Alya's hand but the brunette held it just out of her reach. "You HAVE to delete that video!"
"Please, come on! It's so cute and I'm sure once he sees it he'll understand that you like him!" Alya reasoned.
"Let me see it!" Marinette yelled, clawing desperately for the device. "I have to see it!"
"Promise you won't delete it?" Alya asked, narrowing her eyes.
"Promise," Marinette replied in a instant.
Alya sighed, lowering her hands. "Fine." Marinette snatched away the phone, squealing frantically. She flopped on the bed.
Alya joined her, careful to see what she was doing. She knew Marinette had a habit of deleting videos, so she was sure to keep an eye on her.
Marinette pressed play on the video, and after a few seconds, began to nervously bite her nails. Each word she said in the video caused her to shrink back in her protective shell.
"This is so embarrassing," Marinette mumbled.
"No it's not. It's cute," Alya countered, snatching her phone away from Marinette's hand. "And Adrien will think so too, right after I send it to him!"
"No!" Marinette cried.
Alya laughed, jumping up and running around the room. She displayed Adrien's number on her phone screen and held it up high. "Look, I'm gonna send it!" she teased.
"Nooo!" Marinette wailed, trying to reach the phone, but it was out of reach. Curse her shortness.
"Don't worry, I'm not gonna send it," Alya admitted, laughing. She lowered her arms and that's when Marinette sprang into action. She reached up and swiped the phone away from her hand, cheering in success.
"Yes!" Marinette exclaimed happily.
Message Sent, an automated voice said.
Marinette's heart fell. Did she... Was the...? Her eyes widened in terror as she realized what she had just done.
"I sent him the video, didn't I?" Marinette breathed.
Alya was staring in shock, her head slowly nodding up and down. "Yes you did."
"That's it. I'm dead. Arrange my funeral," Marinette decided.
"I'm telling you, it's not gonna be bad at all," Alya said. "We just have to wait for what he says."
