Prom!
Marinette stood in front of her mirror inspecting her dress. She shook with fear and anticipation. She'd be going with Adrien to prom tonight.
Alya peeked her head out of Marinette's closet and scurried out with a pair of heels. Marinette's eyes widened.
"Okay, girl. Adrien will think you're smoking if you wear these heels with that dress," Alya said, tilting her head towards the glittery red gown that Marinette was wearing. It had black sequins along the collar and around the edges of the dress.
"Will I be safe if I wear them?" Marinette asked, raising an eyebrow.
"We'll see," Alya laughed, handing Marinette the solid black heels.
"I don't know if I should wear them though... I'm not a heels kinda girl," Marinette mumbled.
Alya sighed. "Alright. Want some black flats instead?"
"Yes please," Marinette smiled happily. Alya went to go fetch some black flats from her closet. Marinette jumped as a noise caught her attention.
She glanced up at the door leading to her balcony and saw Chat Noir peeking in. Marinette gasped. She visually tried to tell him to leave before Alya came out from the closet but he just stared at her in awe.
Sighing heavily, Marinette slipped out onto her balcony where Chat waited for her.
"Why are you here?" Marinette asked hurriedly.
"Just to check on you Princess," Chat said casually as he inspected her. His green eyes told something else, but Marinette couldn't figure it out.
"Well, I'm busy getting ready so I'd appreciate it if you'd leave kitty cat," Marinette replied.
"Marinette?" a confused Alya yelled from below.
Marinette bit her lip. It was only a matter of time before Alya decided to check the balcony.
"Go," Marinette warned Chat. He was so curious tonight.
"I was just leaving anyways," Chat said with a wink. "Goodbye Princess!" And with that he jumped down from the balcony and ran away.
The door to the balcony swung open, startling Marinette. Alya walked up to her with the black flats in hand.
"What are you doing up here?" she asked curiously.
"Checking out the stars, that's all," Marinette laughed nervously.
Alya raised an eyebrow. "Whatever, I'll deal with your weirdness later. We need to get ready."
Marinette followed Alya back into her room and quickly slipped on the flats. Alya was about to do Marinette's makeup when she stopped her.
"No, you need to get ready," Marinette told her friend. "You don't want to ditch poor Nino because you weren't ready in time."
Alya nodded. "You're right. I just want my best friend to be her prettiest tonight!"
Marinette giggled as Alya fled to the bathroom with her ocean blue dress.

After the girls had gotten ready, they admired themselves in the mirror. Alya smiled proudly. "You look amazing Marinette."
"Thanks Alya, you too!" she smiled back. Alya's dress had a blue gradient to it and the way it flowed out onto the ground reminded her of actual ocean waves.
"Pictures!" Alya squealed. They posed in the mirror and snapped a few pictures before being bombarded by their parents wanting to take pictures.
After their mini photoshoot, the girls walked over to the school. Girls and boys congregated in the schoolyard, everyone looking like they're fresh off the red carpet. Marinette anxiously looked around for Adrien.
Alya nudged the nervous Marinette and laughed. "Calm down, girl. You look like you're going to have a heart attack. He'll show."
Juleka and Rose walked up to the two. Juleka was wearing a dark purple dress and Rose wore a frilly pink one.
"You two look nice," Rose smiled softly.
Juleka crossed her arms. "I just hope there will be something terrifying at this prom."
Marinette laughed awkwardly, the statement bringing a furious Chloe to mind. "I'm sure there will be..."
Everyone filing into the school and Marinette still hadn't seen Adrien. She sighed sadly and Alya comforted her friend.
As they passed through the front doors of the school, a car door was being shut. Marinette quickly turned around at the noise and it was none other than Adrien stepping out of his limousine. Time seemed to slow down in that moment as Marinette gazed at Adrien.
He was wearing a black tux with a mint green tie that perfectly fit his build. His blonde hair was in the usual hairstyle, but it seemed to be more shiny. His eyes scanned the crowd smoothly until they stumbled upon Marinette. Her breath caught in her throat as Adrien's eyes stared into hers. He seemed very surprised at her appearance and a slight blush formed on his cheeks. Marinette was already smart enough to know that she was definitely blushing as well.
The crowd of students had already exited into the building, leaving behind Adrien and Marinette as they wistfully stared into each other's eyes.
Marinette didn't even notice that Adrien's driver had gotten out and casually walked up behind him. With one movement, he shoved Adrien forward and then exited back into the limousine.
Adrien nearly lost his balance but managed to stay upright. He laughed nervously. That push of encouragement seemed to do the trick.
Marinette decided now would be a good time to move too. She took a shaky step forward. Adrien began to move towards her as well, his face set in determination.
She moved quick; too quick, that she tripped over her feet and went flying. She watched the ground get closer and closer and internally shrieked. But her face never hit the ground. Instead, a pair of strong arms were securely wrapped around her waist.
Her face red with embarrassment, she glanced up at Adrien. He smiled down at her, his soft green eyes overwhelming.
"Hey," Adrien said softly, an endearing smile on his face.
"H-Hi," Marinette stuttered. She nervously regained her composure. "You, uh, look nice."
"Thanks," Adrien laughed. "You look stunning yourself, Marinette." It made her wonder how cool and casual Adrien stayed. She yearned for that attitude. Instead, she's worrying about how to start a sentence around him.
"T-Thanks," she giggled awkwardly, her cheeks heating up at the compliment. She tried to open her mouth to say more but her nerves made it impossible to do so.
Luckily, Alya was there to help her out of the situation. "Girl! There you are," she yelled, racing down from the entrance. Her eyes glanced at Adrien. "Nino and I were looking everywhere for you two."
"Sorry," Adrien replied, his eyes flashing to Marinette. "I had... other things to do before this. I made it just in time."
Alya noticed her distressed friend and smirked. "Let's go get some punch. I'm sure you two are thirsty."
The three walked onto the dance floor. Music blasting in her eardrums and strobe lights nearly blinding her, Marinette just wanted a break. She quickly fled to the safety of the snack table where Juleka was already at.
Marinette snatched a cup and began filling it up with punch. She chugged the entire cup. Juleka looked over at her curiously.
"Having fun?" Juleka asked, chewing on some pretzels. "Some dream, huh."
"Totally," Marinette replied with a sigh. She just needed to calm down. This night could be fun if she would chill out for a second. I mean, she was at prom with Adrien Agreste! Her long time crush. If anything, she should be happy. Not stressed! This was her dream.
Marinette threw her cup away. "Thanks Juleka!" she exclaimed as she raced back over to her friends, pushing her way through students.
"For what?!" Juleka yelled after her.
Marinette nearly fell on top of Alya as she rejoined her friends, but Adrien was nowhere to be found.
"Where's Adrien?" Marinette asked hurriedly.
"He went... looking for you!" Alya exclaimed, her eyes widening in horror.
Marinette gasped and overlooked the crowd of dancing teenagers. "We have to find him!"
"How?" Alya asked incredulously.
"I want to dance with him!" Marinette yelled. She gasped at her own words, not believing what came out of her mouth.
"Did you just say what I think you said?" Alya asked incredulously.
Marinette smiled proudly. "I did! I really did!"
The two girls cheered in victory at Marinette's newfound confidence. But it didn't last long; they still had to find Adrien.
The fast beat pop song that had been playing transitioned into a slow, romantic song. Marinette bit her lip. It was now or never. She had to find Adrien.
She pushed her way through the crowd of people, her eyes on high alert. People had paired up and slow danced. She grew anxious by the second.
Marinette nearly lost her breath as she stumbled and fell into someone's arms. She looked up and gasped.
He looked down at her and smirked. Marinette scrunched her nose up and backed away from him, sighing heavily.
"Nino, do you know where Adrien is?" she asked the boy.
He looked up and pointed a finger, smiling proudly. "There he is!"
Marinette turned her head and saw Adrien, looking through the crowd of people. His green eyes scanned the slow-dancing couples. She gulped and called for him.
"A-Adrien!" she yelled, stuttering nervously.
His head snapped towards her and his eyes filled with relief. He jogged over to her and smiled.
"I thought I lost you," he said.
"Here I am," Marinette chuckled.
They looked around nervously, the slow song still playing. Now was her time to ask him for a dance.
"U-Uh, Adrien?" she asked, looking up at him.
"Yeah?"
"Will you... dance with me?"
Adrien smiled and pulled her close. "Of course."
At first the two danced sloppily, laughing like fools, but then they found their rhythm. Marinette slowly felt more relaxed. They danced together perfectly, their steps in sync and Adrien's hands placed on her waist.
Marinette gently lay her head on Adrien's shoulder, something she'd seen in a lot of romance movies. It was a big step for her and she was so relieved when Adrien accepted the gesture.
The two danced the whole night away. When prom ended, Marinette felt happy and comfortable. The night had been amazing; she spent it with her longtime crush and witnessed a budding romance between Alya and Nino. Let's just say it was an unthinkable combination for Marinette.
Adrien and Marinette stared at each other outside of the school, the cool air brushing past their faces. The other students retreated home and some still lingered outside, reminiscing the fun filled night.
"Thanks for tonight," Adrien smiled at Marinette, gently holding her small hands.
She smiled back. "Thanks too. I enjoyed it a lot."
Adrien winked at her before exiting into his limousine and driving away. Marinette squealed with excitement. Tonight had been everything she dreamed of. Tonight was a night she'd never ever forget.
