I AM YOUR FATHER

"You're done for, Hawkmoth!" Ladybug exclaimed self-righteously. Her arm was badly injured from the fight that took place beforehand. She and Chat towered over the helpless villain.

"Cataclysm!" Chat yelled. His hand emitted black energy and he readied himself.

"You're not going to use it on me," Hawkmoth smirked at Chat.

"And why is that?" Chat sneered angrily. "You've hurt the love of my life and my friends!"

Hawkmoth got to his feet, taking great care to watch out for Ladybug. He cleared his throat.

"Because, Chat. I am your father."

Chat's eyes widened and he backed away. "No. I don't believe you!"

Hawkmoth sighed and then reached for the moth-shaped pendant on his suit. He pulled it off and a purple mist washed over the villain. A moth-like kwami flew out of the Miraculous and hovered in the air.

Standing before Chat was none other than his father, Gabriel Agreste. Ladybug gasped in surprise.

"No!" Chat yelled incredulously.

"Believe it, Adrien. I'm Hawkmoth. Your worst enemy," Gabriel said amusingly.

"NO!" Chat screamed, lunging for Gabriel. He outstretched his destructive hand.

Gabriel quickly held up a wooden panel and it caught the power before it hit him. The panel crumbled to dust.

Chat fell to his knees and sobbed. "Why?" he mumbled. "Why would you hurt me and my friends?"

"Oh, Adrien. So foolish and naive," Gabriel said, kneeling down beside his son. "I had to, you see."

"You had to?" Chat hissed, his eyes blurred with tears. "What reason forced you to do the horrible things you've done?"

Gabriel stood up and crossed his arms behind his back. He sighed heavily. "There are some things in life that you will just never understand, my boy."

Ladybug slowly walked over to Chat and rubbed his back comfortingly. She then shot Gabriel a death glare.

"I always knew there was something off about you, Hawkmoth," she said angrily. "Why would you hurt your own son?"

Gabriel turned around abruptly. "I didn't know he possessed the Miraculous at first. But then I put the pieces together. One by one. Him leaving so frequently, making up poor excuses whenever he came home late... It made sense. That goes for you as well, Marinette."

Ladybug's eyes widened when she realized that he now knew her secret. Their secret. Her entire family was in danger now.

"We're not the only ones who kept secrets!" Chat frustratingly spat. His ring beeped.

"So what's the point then, Gabriel? Why'd you possess innocent people to carry out your evil doings? Huh?" Ladybug pushed.

"Because I had to get her back!" Gabriel shouted hesitantly.

Chat looked up, tears running down his face. "Who?" he mumbled quietly.

"Cynthia," Gabriel whispered. "I had to save her. The only way I could was to-"

"-steal the Miraculouses," Ladybug finished. Chat stared ahead blankly, his eyes watering.

"Mom," he mumbled softly.

"She left one day. Out of the blue," Gabriel continued. "I searched everywhere for her. But there was no trace of her. I was devastated. Then, one day I received a call from the police department. They said they found a body that they believed to be Cynthia's."

Chat hugged his knees and sobbed loudly just as his transformation wore off.

"She was murdered," Gabriel breathed.

The room fell silent except for the sounds of Adrien's strained sobs.

"I'm... sorry," Ladybug mumbled.

"Well don't be," Gabriel hissed defensively. "I don't need your pity. I need your Miraculous's to save my wife. The love of my life. And I intend to get it one way or another."

"No, Gabriel," Ladybug said, backing away. "You don't need to do this. What's done is done!"

"Yes I do!" he screeched. He placed his Miraculous back on and his kwami jumped into it, turning him back into Hawkmoth. He walked over to Adrien who was staring at the ground.

"My son," Hawkmoth whispered. "Join me and together we can save your mother."

Adrien looked up, his eyes wet with tears. He stood up and looked Hawkmoth directly in the eyes.

"I will," he breathed firmly.

An evil smirk grew on Hawkmoth's face. "Excellent. Now let's..."

"-not join you," Adrien finished.

Hawkmoth clenched his fists in anger and yelled at the top of his lungs. "WHAT?!?"

Adrien backed away and stood besides Ladybug. "I'll never join you, father. I fight evil, not fight for evil."

"B-But don't you want to save your mother?" Hawkmoth screeched impatiently.

"Sorry, but it doesn't look like that's what's gonna happen if you get your hands on our Miraculous's," Ladybug said. "I'm sorry about your wife, but we'd never trust you with items as powerful as them."

"Ditto," Adrien said firmly.

Hawkmoth's face grew a bright red. "GRRRRRR!" he growled. "Fine! Then face my WRATH!"

Hawkmoth summoned hundreds of purple akuma's and sent them flying towards Adrien and Ladybug.

"Go recharge Plagg! I'll cover for you!" Ladybug exclaimed to Adrien.

Adrien nodded and then took cover behind a wall. He pulled out a slice of Camembert and fed it to Plagg.

"Yum! Now let's show your dad who the REAL boss is!" Plagg yelled.

"Yeah," Adrien nodded wearily. "Plagg, transform me!"

Chat emerged from the shadows beside Ladybug. Hawkmoth growled. "You're making a BIG mistake!"

"No, you are father," Chat replied. "You've gone insane. Mom has been gone for 10 years now! We just need to accept that!"

"Never!" Hawkmoth replied angrily. He prepared another batch of purple akuma's and sent them their way. Ladybug annihilated them with her yoyo as Chat kept talking.

"Please, father! Quit being Hawkmoth and just be a dad to me! Please!"

Hawkmoth widened his eyes. He stared at the ground while Chat slowly approached him. He reached for his fathers hand.

"Please. You can change," Chat whispered, grabbing his fathers hand.

Hawkmoth looked up at his son, a sinister glint in his eye. He yanked Chat forward and whispered harshly in his ear. "It's too late for that."

Hawkmoth snatched the ring off of Chat's finger, releasing his transformation. Adrien helplessly fell to the ground.

"MWAHAHA!" Hawkmoth cackled. "I will rule the world!"

Ladybug flung her yoyo around the ring and pulled it out of Hawkmoth's hand. "Not so fast!"

Hawkmoth gasped in shocked. "Ladybug!" he growled. "That's it, you're going to PAY!"

Hawkmoth summoned a giant akuma, larger than any akuma before, and sent it towards Ladybug. The butterfly smacked into her and pinned her up against the wall, causing her to drop the Miraculous on the floor. Adrien glanced at it in shock. Meanwhile, Ladybug winced in pain.

Hawkmoth laughed and walked up to her. He held up her chin. "Foolish, Ladybug. Now I can dispose of you. And not just your alter ego, but your life."

He pulled off the earrings, releasing the transformation, and prepared one final akuma to kill Marinette.

"CATACLYSM!"

Hawkmoth gasped and turned around ready to defend himself when he felt a sharp pain in his stomach. His eyes bulged and he glanced down at his body. A huge chunk of his abdomen was missing.

Hawkmoth groaned in pain and then fell limply to the ground as his body slowly disappeared. Chat stared down at him in pity.

"I thought you could change, father," he mumbled sadly, a tear rolling down his cheek.

Hawkmoth stared at his son, his eyes full of pain. Just as his head was beginning to disappear, his lips tugged upwards into a smile and he mumbled one last sentence:

"That's my boy."
