The Letter
Marinette's:
“Sweetie!” Marinette came rushing down from her bedroom. She had just been doodling, awaiting the big surprise her parents had revealed nothing about.
Parisians are taught from a young age that every child shall receive a present on their thirteenth birthday, determining their fate. They are also taught that they are permitted to nothing about it to any person outside their age group.
“You have mail, sweetie.”
“Thanks, mom!” Marinette took the letter, preparing herself to open it when her father gently touched her shoulder to stop.
“Marinette, you know the rules. Go upstairs, you need the privacy,” the baker suggested with a proud smile that matched his wife’s.
“Of course, papa.” Unable to wipe the smile that overcame her face, the teenager giggled her way to her bedroom.
“Our little girl is all grown up, Tom.”
Adrien’s:
The morning of his birthday, he ran to the dining room and ate his breakfast as if he hadn’t eaten in days. His knee bouncing, he made no effort to hide his anxiety as Nathalie began walking towards Adrien.
“Mr. Agreste, your mail.” She set it down, leaving him alone without saying anything further. Unlike Marinette, Adrien knew next to nothing about what the letter was about. He ran upstairs and locked himself in his bedroom, jumping onto the bed as he opened the letter.
Dear Mr. Agreste,
We would like to congratulate you for waiting as patiently as possible for this day to come.
Marinette’s:
As we are sure you have learned already, this is the letter that will help you find your meaning of life, your purpose.
Adrien’s:
Beginning from January 1st of the upcoming year, you have been chosen to become a resident at the Camp Effectuer. In that location, you will be trained to become one of the most talented dancers in your age group.
Marinette’s:
Not only will you be involved with competing with alumni, but you will also battle against your very own peers.
Adrien’s:
You will go by a codename, one you are to share with only the one you deem the one.
“How will I know who ‘the one’ is?” Adrien wondered aloud.
Marinette’s:
The girl’s parents smiled at the sound of their daughter squealing.
You will use your codename only at sundown to sunrise, your actual identity will be shown the remainder of the day.
Adrien’s:
Do not fret or worry, your name has yet to be chosen, that isn’t to say the theme of who you become when the sun goes down hasn’t.
The animals have not been chosen randomly, but tailored to fit your specific personality.
Marinette’s:
Marinette Dupain-Cheng, daughter of Tom Dupain and Sabine Dupain-Cheng. You have been chosen to be the representation of the ladybug. As a symbol of good luck, the insect is a wonderful pair for you.
Adrien’s:
The animals are a deeper meaning of who you are below the surface, and how you feel. Or in some cases, how you make others feel. Adrien Agreste, son of Gabriel Agreste and Emilie Agreste. You have been chosen to be the representation of the black cat. Although commonly and most famously known for symbolizing bad luck, death, and even decay or depression, the black cat can help one learn of their fears and insecurities.
The black cat is a more complicated animal, it’s true meaning and symbol depending on which angle you see.
When you arrive, please be prepared to become the pet owner of a black cat.
Marinette’s:
Although you yourself may often find yourself in the unluckiest of situations, you manage to find that the power of love is always stronger than the power of hatred.
When you arrive, you will receive a ladybug that you must take care of as if it were your pet.
Both:
Everything stated in this paper will have some importance to you whilst you live on the campus from January 1st through December 31st. Please remember the rules of the camp:

2. You only share both your animal and your birth name with the person you find to be your soulmate
3. Do not seek out to find another’s soulmate
4. Do not attempt to figure out anyone else’s other identityDo what it takes to win the battle
Marinette’s:
When the day of arrival approaches, you are to travel via bus #21. Sit in the second row on the right side of the bus upon entry. Sitting next to the window, you will find who you are to share a room with.
